Thanks, Phil. I thought people only gave me plastic glasses because I was next to the swimming pool. Now it turns out, they knew that I drop things more often than John Ruddy!
It's been around 15yrs since I was in CM. It was a bit bohemian then but I did enjoy the place. Seems like the local people are more chilled up there and have a different identity and attitude to the madness of BKK or Patts. I looked at a couple of houses but ended up in my wife's village like every other sucker. I'm glad I did though. Fortunately for me she came from North Chonburi close to Chachoengsao and not Isaan. Will need to take a visit again some time to CM. I did enjoy it.
Thanks, Toby. I hadn't been to Chiang Mai for about 20 years. When I went back, not surprisingly, it had changed a lot. But I still liked it and did 2 quick trips and I'm planning a third. As you say, the people are generally more friendly and there's some cool places. If you have the time, give it another go. I'm sure you'd love it.
"Lets make toast" never thought I would see a sign like that! The mall looked very interesting. Motel room looked fine as well. You did not say what you ate at that "Michelin" restaurant but it did look good. Next time ask for NO LID on the teapot! 555 Another great travel and hotel vlog BC. Thank you and Keep on Truckin
Thanks, Ric. I'm a big fan of those Community Malls. I used to frequent a couple in Bangkok, and Chiang Mail seems to have several. So much more refreshing than the big malls with the same chain stores over and over again. I had some stewed pork in the last restaurant. And some kind of ginger ice cream which was to die for. Unfortunately, I thought I had died when I saw the check! Haha. Will be more careful in future!
The House was opened by a gay couple in 2007, one was Dutch or thereabouts, I think. I imagine they still own it as I seem to remember they bought the freehold. Bit too pretentious for me and certainly not my cuppa tea................Next time you're in the city, consider eating Cow man gai (Krit Ocha Chicken rice) in the side street next to the Three Kings monument. One of the best in the Kingdom imo...................Enjoyable vid as always..........
Cheers, BB! Drinking that poncy tea was what landed me in trouble! I mean English breakfast tea served in a metal mug with the tea bag still in it isn't gonna break is it? And it probably would have tasted better, too! Hahaha
They charged you for the while teapot, not just the lid. Therefore, I hope you either broke the rest of it or took it home. It baffles me how a Thai restaurant got a Michelin star. Another sad product of woke culture. There are probably places serving roasted goat in Botswana that have it too nowadays.
Thanks, David. Only got myself to blame on this one. Although the CCTV might have shown if the lid was properly fitted, hahaha! The Michelin star thing is strange, not just here but everywhere. I drank some milk from a Michelin starred milk shop in another video. Tasted just like, er, milk not surprisingly!
I’m keeping you away from my teapots in the future 😢 Those glass teapots are expensive and it’s always the lid that breaks. Great video.

Hey, thanks for the additional information. I didn't know that. Not your cuppa tea, like it!!! Will try out your recommendation next time. Cheers!
great stuff, the owners good advice wasn't, 'stay somewhere else' then. I drink english breakfast tea not that earl grey rubbish.

My boss tells me you (meaning me) should always put a finger on the teapot lid when pouring. 🫖
Hey, Andrew, it's clear how your boss became the boss with sensible advice like that! I think I shouldn't be allowed out without a minder, tbh!
