Milage will depend on driving style, so I cannot comment. As for the drive, the Astor is a solidly built car. Feels a lot more solid and planted than the Creta and Seltos. The suspension is comfortable and handles bad roads very well. There is some bodyroll only when the car is driven fast around turns, but it stays composed most of the time. Ride is much more comfortable than Kushaq and Taigun. The only issue I felt with the 1.5 litre variant is that it doesn't feel as peppy as the Creta/Seltos naturally aspirated engines. It takes a bit longer to build pace but once it does it is not slow by any standard. I think the gearing should have been done better because the engine produces ample power and torque - 110PS & 144NM torque. I must also add that the engines both the 1.5 naturally aspirated and the 1.3 turbo are super smooth engines and NVH levels are very well controlled. Finally, I must add that the equipment level even in the base model of the Astor is as much as the mid variants of other companies' cars. It is very well equipped and doesn't feel like a base model at all.
@@finderskeepers7293 could you please clarify my doubts: 1. Is the mileage really bad 2. Even though in paper the boot space is more than 450 ltr many say that in practicality it's very very less 3. The sheet beneath the panoramic sunroof is like a thin net and hence vehicle gets extremely hot
@@venkat7197 The mileage is definitely less than the Japanese and the Koreans. If mileage is your priority and not solid build and plush ride, then don't go for this. Boot is not deep and in India we don't get the adjustable boot floor either, so yes it's a bit less. I personally feel the Creta can take in more luggage. However it is not a deal breaker. Also if you remove the parcel tray, a lot more luggage can be accommodated. The cover for the sunroof is a translucent, net type material and for India they should have given a proper cover. There has been an update to the Astor recently and I don't know if they have changed the material of the screen now. You'll have to check at the dealership. Hope I have answered your questions to your satisfaction. At the end of the day, no car is perfect. I don't like how the Creta drives after driving the Astor. The Creta feels a bit flighty in comparison. Also the materials don't feel as premium as in the Astor. However the Creta is a very well packaged car and meets most requirements of users. So ultimately you'll have to define your priorities and choose the one that best suits your requirements. For me, I am very happy with the Astor. I have the turbo by the way. I am not regretting not getting the Creta, Seltos or Grand Vitara. Have a nice day. 😊
Mg Astor Turbo. My feedback after 1 year. Pros. 1. Sturdy and Stable 2. Silent inside the cabin. 3. Spacious cabin. 4. Inbuilt port for connecting dash cam near rear view mirror. 5. Some adas features are really useful like adaptive cruise control, pedestrian auto braking and collision warning, blind spot warning . Others i really didnt get a chance to use it on our busy roads. 6. One thing that people got inside my car appreciated was the red interiors. The material and the color gives it a pleasant and premium look. 7. Happy with the periodical services. 8. App connectivity is ok. Cons 1. Very low mileage- 6-8 in city traffic condition, max of 10.5 in normal city traffic at early house and 13-14 in highways. 2. Scratching noise at times- Told by service supervisor that its because of adas braking motor getting engaged. Its really annoying as it happens all of a sudden when u are driving smooth and enjoying the drive. 3. Infotainment glitches- by the time reverse camera view comes you would have finished taking reverse and would be ready to go formard. At times it never opens also. Some times it opens and then closes and again opens. 4. AT has lag in drive mode which is slightly reduced when u drive in sports mode. Since I haven’t driven any other Torque Converter AT I dont know how good or bad it is. 5. Though inside plastic looks good and high quality its actually not. The ac vents air direction control was broken within few days. Panel around hazard light switch came out when i used it for the first time itself. 6. The bot is really useless. It doesnt really understand our comments and also interfere when we are having casual talks inside our car. 7. The navigation system used doesn’t contain vast information like in google map so its really hard to find the place we are searching for the route data is also not reliable. 8. Only having normal USB port and not type-C. Wireless charging was not my concern. 9. Checking air in the spare wheel is not possible when filling air at petrol pumps. 10. No charging port at back. I would recommend this car if, 1. Looking for a premium look. 2. Decent power and performance. 3. Mileage is not your concern.
Astor has great build quality and interiors. But 1.5 NA engine is very lacklustre and lacks Power. You need to be a very relaxed driver. Looks are good. All SUVs need not be big and imposing.
I don't know much about this car, but for those who commenting about build quality just for your info this weighs heighest in segment even more than creta, kushaq, elevate, grand vitara , etc. at 1305 kh approx.
Steering has 3 modes Dynamic normal and urban… and as you said urban is very light for city… but dynamic is where it takes highways under its weight amazingly…. Thanks for the detailed review… keep posting such contents…❤
Very good and accurate review. I own this car, one thing I want to add about the steering is - there are 3 steering modes, dynamic mode makes it good for highways. I always use it on highway. Default steering mode is city mode which is very light. And should only be used in city.
My Doubt : when we drive in heavy bumper to bumper traffic like in bangalore on daily basis to office, what all things should we look in a car to have a comfortable ride will minimum effort, so that it is less tiring. How much power is required? should we use turbo? minimum use of acceleration for B2B driving? Would you recommend few cars under 20 lacs. Thanks.
Bro, what are you talking about. This car is for sure larger than Creta in dimension. Edit: Kindly do your HW when reviewing cars. The rest of the review was good.
Very well said regarding MG Astor. I have driven all cars and the built quality is top notch. There is some room for improvement and that would be reverse parking camera & the infotainment screen. Tata has the best camera and 10.25 infotainment screen with no lag. Boot space needs to be redesigned. Also, 1.5CVT should give better fuel efficiency. No doubt with lots of features this would be the hot selling mid-size SUV then.
Yes you are absolutely right.Don’t know people commenting it doesn’t give good mileage. Do they really own this car or just by hearing here n there and putting their comment. Those who are saying mileage is not good then they did not drive this car for sure. Kisise mangke ek din ke liye test drive ke liye aur judgement karte hain.. kuch pata nahi inko bas comment daalte hain. To be very clear ismain main 22 kmpl tak nikala hun mileage. Creta seltos ka petrol version kitna mileage dete hain?? Jo creta seltos ka petrol version liye hain unko bhi 16-17 kmpl mileage milta hai. Bakwas baat karte rahte hain kuch chutye log. Han engine thoda dhimaa hai I agree .naturally aspirate 1.5 engine hai . strong build quality hai. Premium look n premium interior. Han iska speakers bahut ghatia hai. Woh AI bot ke jaga wireless charge de deta aur acha hota. Electric Irvm aur ventilated seats de dete to maja aa jata..
