I’ve gotta say I love your passion for wooden railway and everytime you talk about it it makes me happy unless you bring up the fact that this is what used to be but that doesn’t matter hopefully people like you will get attention from Mattel and understand why we miss the Thomas wooden railway line and it can be brought back in its former glory

I would have either put Culdee in the set for Catherine or replaced her with Annie and Clarabel(CGI colors), and maybe put Tidmouth station in the set to. Other things I would do include replacing the orange cargo car with 5 open troublesome trucks with 5 shipping crates. I would also put in one more grain car, 3 more lumber cars, 1 more barrel car with a fourth barrel, Henrietta, 3 Knapford express coaches, Welsworth station, Welsworth sheds, S.C.RUFFY, Fred, Rickety, the Spiteful break van, Edward, Percy, Henry, Duck, a useful engine shed, a coal hopper, Toad, Old Slow Coach, Tidmouth sheds, 4 mail vans, the mail depot, the Dairy, 3 milk tankers, and 5 sodorline cabooses.

Often when I see a set review like this, I try to make the sets better by thinking of certain episodes for references, and before I know it what started out as a few additions turns into a complete mess. Let's try this again... The things I would include are .3 grey troublesome trucks with shipping crates .replace Catherine with Annie, Clarabel, and Henrietta .Swap Oliver with Henry .put in Welsworth station .3 sodor line cabooses
@@landonmarlin6116 imma be honest I'd go with your idea with switching oliver and catherine for henry, annie, and clarabel. idk why learning curve didn't do that.the troublesome trucks aren't as necessary though since all the trucks already included in the set are tied to the gimmicks of the destinations. speaking of destinations idk if wellsworth would fit anywhere so I'd just go with Elsbridge station

They cleaned up the line and made it a lot like the modern day thomas, however, 2016 was the downfall. 2016 introduced so many plastic pieces and redesign of engines. Oh 2017, THOMAS FUCKING WOOD!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!! PLEASE!!!! NO!!!! WHY!!!!
This is the set I always wanted Of course I never got it since my family was straddling the poverty line so usually we got the Thomas engines and rolling stock and got track from Melissa and Doug sets

On the subject of "Catherine", she's not really Catherine at all. She's actually a different characer, a pair of utility/crew wagons collectively known as "The Truck". Thematically, that makes her fitting as additional rolling stock for the set. I think Gray Troublesome Trucks, a Breakdown Train, or extra barrel, log, or cargo cars would be far better replacements for her than another engine, although personally I'm fine with the Truck being there. She fits well enough, and was again a harder-to-find item on her own.
This is one of the most interesting Thomas wooden railway sets in the past! (And next to and before the sights and sounds set with the deluxe roundhouse, which I mainly like that destination followed by the special engine shed, works engine repair shed, useful engine shed, Boulder mountain, Sodor scrub and shine, Sodor bay bridge, the gantry crane and the super cruiser too) Also do you actually have this or did you make it with most of your separate tracks and destinations?
I think part of why these bigger Wooden Railway sets were done away with was partially to do with the price. According to my old Smith-Thompson catalogue from 2005, the set cost $399.99, but interestingly they were offering a free rolling storage box with it. Although I can see the value (as I'm sure others can as well), some people just don't see it that way and therefore don't want to spend the money on such a thing. I feel like another reason these bigger sets were pushed aside is because back in the day, a set like this was really all you needed to start your wooden railway, and therefore you didn't have to go out and buy as much product to build a decent layout. I feel companies like Mattel woke up to this fact and started making more of just your basic loop track sets and stripping away a lot of the little accessories you use to get.
I think it's more because HiT's greedy price hikes (that Mattel failed to abate) made the larger sets cost even more than they already did, to the point that nobody would buy them.
If a little kid played with this, The grain car would be broken The piece of cargo is missing Terrences black things are gone The timber pieces are broken or gone And the barrels are gone
I think it's a closed-end log and it just landed off-center. Tends to happen semi-often, because the loader was _designed_ for the longer logs and thus the shorter ones for the later log cars have slop room.
Maybe not Catherine but replace her with either old slow coach the knapford coach or Annie and Clarabel keep Oliver and maybe they should add a small station to it as well

I’m fortunate enough to own the original clickety clack track version but sadly lost one of the risers and my 2001 Thomas that came with it.
