I like the newer version better. He looks like Sean Penn. The newer version (that looks more like the original, vintage version) looks a bit like a half-Asian Lou Ferigno pinching a loaf.
I love the way you've posed them outdoors. I'm 41 years old and even to this day whenever I see an interesting outdoor location or even just some dirt I STILL think to myself "that'd be a class place to play with my He-Man figures lol. That also applies to Star wars, Thundercats, Action Force & Mask. Not Transformers though.that was an indoor activity for some reason?
In the UK the adverts on TV and in comics for Masters of the Universe, Jurassic Park and G.I Joe toys were often filmed or photographed outdoors and it always inspired me.
This makes me glad I missed out on the first wave! And now I can look foward to buying a single he-man & skeletor rather than 4 with the 2 battle armor deluxe packs that dont interest me at all apart from the older headsculpts! (I hope they re-release the non green Teela tho)

I’m with you 100%! First Generation He-Man collector and I love the vintage face sculps! I still remember getting my first MOTU figures in the summer of ‘82 and they were epic! Muscles and man-nipples!

As far as head sculpts go,I prefer the vintage one over the newer version. The sword handle for the half sword has a slightly longer blade than the full version. I notice the middle part between the hilt of the sword on the blade part looks different on both versions. It appears both are the same length.

I have upgraded the first edition with the vintage head from the battle armor He-Man. I personally like the half power sword because that is what it was with the original toy. If you take v1.0 of the He-Man from origins and simply swap the head to the vintage style head you pretty much have as close as you can get to the vintage He-Man....at least in my own personal opinion.
Yes I got that BA He-man too for the head. The hair is darker on that one than on the v2.0 head which I think looks better. The v2.0 hair is a bit too bright of yellow. Even as a kid I never liked the half sword thing so I was glad to upgrade that.
Yes it's going to be the default head going forward. It may be that the older figures haven't sold so the store near you hasn't re-stocked with the newer one's yet.
Yay! Mattel listened to the fans and gave us the vintage style head sculpt and full sword! The 2.0 version looks like it has a less glossy finish to the skin.
The half sword was in mini comics this was the key that the godess guarded too enter the castle love the long hair origins head more like the vintage i use that for prince adam and my faker customs
The flat and gloss on the Sword was switched. On the original half Sword, the blade was shiny, and everything else was matte, whereas with the full sword, the blade is matte and the guard snd hilt are shinier.
I also did a repaint on his armor … mine was very bad… I took a razor knife and scraped off the paint that was not on the cross and I touched up the cross where the paint where they missed and left grey…looks lots better… Edit: I am planning on getting another he-man so I can do a custom wonder bread he-man
This is disappointing... I really like the Origins head. As a kid it bothered me that my He-Man toy didn't look much like He-Man in the comics and cartoon and I love that all these years later it's been fixed. This new old head was a great bonus with Deluxe figures, it's just a pity they've taken the line in this direction, especially now that my Origins Faker has a different head than He-Man ...but being blue and wearing Skeletor armor he wasn't going to fake anyone. A full power sword is nice though.
In general I do prefer Origins figures to have something more unique about them rather than being straight up copies of the vintage toys just with more articulation and I do like that the line had it's own version of He-man. But I can't help but love that vintage head!
It's great to see Mattel making a running change to provide a He-Man with the vintage toy style head and a full Power Sword. It's certainly a business related move since they don't have to develop new tooling from the ground up and they know a lot of people will buy the v2 Origins He-Man despite already having the v1 toy...but it also shows that they pay attention to commonly voiced criticisms from collectors and toy reviewers on social media. Personally, I like the v1 He-Man head and half Power Sword because I'm a fan of the vintage mini comics The head sculpt is based off of the depiction of He-Man in the mini comics and he didn't possess a "full" Power Sword until the Filmation cartoon was in production and the comics changed to reflect a sort of continuity, however loose, with the cartoon. Originally, He-Man was a barbarian warrior who was chosen by the Goddess (who became the "Sorceress" later on). Adam and the concept of He-Man being a "transformed" super version of the prince was a later invention. Initially, the two halves of the Power Sword were sought by Skeletor to gain access to Castle Grayskull in order to gain the power contained within. That's why the Castle Grayskull playset has the feature of opening the Jawbridge with the united Power Sword.
Yes it's nice to have the first release head as a more savage, slightly Alcala style variant. I'm going to keep it even though I now have and prefer the vintage toy style head.
I never liked the vintage head of He-Man, i think the new sculpture it was much better! The 2.0 head (vintage) reminds me a 45 years old Chinese guy, who just woke to go to work, his eyes are swollen from the sleep, he hasn't drank coffee yet, and he is not very happy about it!😆
I don't get why people think the newer head is more handsome. I know its accurate to the original toy, but it looks ugly to me. My favorite part of the new head sculpt is the hair.

Update, I did not find either at Terrificon, no one had them, but i did score 4 G.I. Joe cobra team figures on cardback so not a total loss.

Yeah need the 2.0 to face off against Faker 👍🏻 Also the plastic on 2.0 seems to have less of a sheen than 1.0

Some of the first wave He-Man figures had extra paint deco on the axe blade which the newer release doesn't have

Yes the pegs are the same size so you can mix and match.
