The factory service manual shows a much simpler way to do just the pads. Loosen the pad locking pin, loosen the caliper bolts, then remove the top caliper bolt and pull the locking pin out. Slide the pads out, transfer your anti-squeal plates to the new brakes, use a flat object like a paint scraping tool to push the pistons back into the caliper, slide new brakes in, put locking pin in but don't tighten, install caliper bolt and torque both to spec, then install and torque locking pin.
@salchipapa8000 Did you open the brake lines? No? Then why would air enter the system? There's no need to bleed, but it won't hurt to put in some fresh fluid regularly.
Wouldn't it be faster in the first place just to unscrem the brake-disk along with the brake cylinder instead pf removing the whole weel an the fender???????????
And one more reason not to buy a buell... why the hell do they constuct a motorcycle that way??? A brake pad change on any other normal bike takes about 20 minutes ... this is completely rediculous!
Because it was a bike built for a race team not the average owner...they expected you to take it in to a stealership...boy did they fail on multiple accounts.

The first time I changed pads on an 1125R it took 14 minutes. There's something to be said for only having one caliper.

I thought when you changed brakes you had to bleed it ?
Only when air is introduced to the system do you need to bleed it. If they were replacing a whole caliper, they'd have to bleed the lines.

Yeah this is way complicated way of doing it. Not necessary. I can change the front brakes on my XB in 6 minutes.

They were just showing if you needed to change out rotors that’s why the wheel was removed.
