Wouldmt it be safer to use a proximity high explosive with fragmentation than a pure precie kinetic kill vehicle? Even if it misses it still destroys the target. Kinetic kill seems pie in the sky in a real battle with decoys.

Sadly, with just one EMP you could take out all that communication ability. Leaving us blind.

Military Electronics are hardened against EMP. we would not

Pretty sure they've already thought of that. Everything's hardened.

So what was the combined speeds of the two missiles upon impact?

Well the minuteman 3, americas silo based icbm, reaches speeds of 15,000 mph ...take that for what its worth... Fast enough that the kill vehicle carries no ordnance .. it relies on kinetic energy just like a bullet. . except a bullet , sat from a high powered sniper rifle in 338 lapua magnum, is moving around 3,000 feet a second.. if the minuteman is moving 15,000mph... That equals 22,000 feet per second.. so these " bullets" are moving 7 times the speed of the 338 lapua magnum . Some more data...
338 lapua magnum launches a 250 grain bullet ( a little over 16 grams) at 3, 030 feet per second ( 925 meters a second) at the muzzle.. this produces 5,108 foot pounds (6,925 joules) of kenetic energy.....
The minuteman 3s re entry vehicle weighs around 550lbs... Moving at 15000 mph.. the kinetic energy alone would equal around 4,136,874,468 foot lbs... Or a little under 1.5 tons of TNT....

@@clarkgregb keep in mind thats rough math..but a good ballpark figure.. most russian reentry vehicles can move faster than that. And the kill vehicles may as awell.. any increase on either side exponentially increases the kinetic energy and difficulty... Also the advent of.glide vehicles completely nullify abm defense.. current warheads follow a ballistic trajectory.. a predictable one.. these glide vehicles move and change altitude during descent making them very unpredictable

I really doubt this guy copyright claimed that compilation -- channel is too small to be offered those tools by TH-cam..

We are not like Russia. The weapons testing is reality based. The outcome is either a hit or miss. Easy to keep score. Check out the success of US weapons in the Russia/Ukraine war. Check out the failure of Russia weapons in the same theatre. That is the result of proper testing.

@@calcrappie8507 Most of the tests are done in simulation software, where crazier situations and countermeasures can be accounted for, so the actual capabilities are likely not even public info.

None.. the missile dont go that high... All the trash re enters and burns up ... If the missile shot high enough that gravity couldny bring it down the warhead would be floating up there with the rest of it

The missile is on a terminal trajectory so whatever bits it got broken up into are going to be disposed anyway
