Thanks for sharing. Greetings from USA, Oregon. I have been fascinated with Kora type instruments and yours is the best and simplest design I have found. The drum type resonators are harder to make.
I was trained as a classical pianist for most of my childhood-young adult life, but feel like I missed out on a lot of diversity in the musical world. These kind of creative projects are very fascinating to me but sometimes feel over my head - would you have any recommendations about where someone with a background can learn about more advanced music theory? So happy I found your content.
Hey man I’m not him but what would you say is the most advanced and interesting concept to you? There are some cool concepts like Prepared Piano where objects are inserted into the piano. There’s also microtonality like with some music like Taylor Brook which sounds crazy. There’s also conduction which is a method of improvising based around the act of conducting which was used by Butch Morris.
Lol, I am not a pianist but this is kinda funny to me. So you want diversity, but also more advanced music theory? Hmmm it is hard to get both due to the nature of them (as advanced tends to be more specified.) but for my recommendation to you: I love learning about middle Eastern music theory, it is very different yet also advanced like western music. In the video I guess you could look for West African music theory? but!! There is something even more valuable to learn in my own subjective opinion. Learn to improvise. For somereason classical pianists aren't taught to improvise and it seems very scary to them, so improvising in different genres or even classical music would be a very impressive feat for someone of your background edit: for reference I am simple a teen who plays oud and guitar and think I can maybeeeee provide some insight. So take all I say with a grain of salt obviously
@@lmarsh5407 where did you learn oud? I've wanted to for some time but never got around to it. I want to learn more eastern theory but no clue where to start. -am also a teen‿̈ fun seeing others in my boat
@@joeperry512 i first learnt oud by myself!! I just listened to artists like trio joubran and mimicked their style and then just fiddled with oud for a while. In terms of music theory I later bought some beginner oud books. I found I picked up a few of the techniques anyways but they'll tell you a few others as well as different maqamat (like a scale) to practice on. So I reccomend simply getting an oud book if you already have an oud lol!
I love making home made flutes and stringed instruments. Also percussion. With each note I play, I proclaim "I AM ALIVE!" So glad I found your TH-cam channel! Subscribed. This is an instrument I have wanted to make/play for a long time. It sounds so magical, and perfect background for storytelling. Maybe a tin can Sitar and/or Tanpura is in your future? This is the kind of thing that should be taught in every school, wood shop. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes for your continued success.
I'll give you a good life hack about homemade piezoceramic pickups. If you take two identical plates of piezo emitters and put their metall sides to each other (glue or solder), you can solder a balanced audio cable to them. The metal center will be the shield wire, and the cold and hot wires will remain at the edges. This avoids noise. In addition, it is possible to take a difference signal from two points. However, it is worth making sure that the plates give signals of the same polarity when bent in the same direction.
Amazing! Great build and wonderful music! What's the name of the percussion instrument that enters at 3:06? Kindof seems like Bongos or Tbilat.. but played with a stick?
I want to make Native American style flute out of rock and metal. Do you have blue prints on the correct hole structure and opening angles for air flow? Thank you. I love watching your videos.
Encore merci 🙏🏻
Merci!
I just beat far cry 2 and the songs at the end sounded like they would be right at home in the Unnamed African Country it takes place in. Based on the other music chosen for it of course.
Not really, I order cheap ones on ali express for my daily prototypes, sometimes I use piano pegs, of bolts, but this is not as convenient, and not a lot cheaper!
Your original compositions in the background have the perfect How It's Made energy. The music is at least 50% of why I watch these videos.
Thanks! I have a lot of fun with those!
I’m not even a musician and I like watching these clips.
- I do however like to build and create.
Your combination of creativity, and skill with instruments is super neat!
Thanks!
You're super creative and love your music !
Thanks a lot!
Superb instrument and the making of it. Very inspiring video from a creative heart; your way of playing the pentatonic scale enhansed my use of it.
Thanks!

Thanks! I also made some with drumkit toms, but I prefer the sound of the tin can!

Grand merci!
Now I learned something new today on building music instruments.

Always make me smile great video!
great music in the end, wish it was longer
Es chingon el Güero. Saludos.
I used the same basic layout years ago to make a one string erhu. Works great.
This channel is sooooo cool, thanks Bras
Incredible!!
Oh man, i love this music
Thanks!
Thank you, this gives me a lot of inspiration to build a custom instrument.
Bro, amazing, great song you made too
wow turned out great. well done
Fantastic video series! I'm hooked! Thanks!
Thank you!
Your music skills are on point. Have a good night and keep it up yes? See ya.
man you are awesome, nice music and i was really touched
Thanks!
Stickytape at the back to make the sound hole a bit smaller will add more resonance

Dunun, dundun, and djundjun are some of the names for those drums.
Tu est un tueur frero.
Very nice, I'm going to make one thanks! 😀🤟
Sounds great!
Love how the drums are tuned to the same scale
How awesome! I would love to buy a copy of the song you played at the end. It was both soothing and energizing. Terrific!
I have to edit those compositions and release them, I'll work on it!
You have really nice sounding instrument there. Great job . Dave
Amazing! Gonna try my take on it!
It sound really good !
Yes, I love the result!
Bless you for this.
Wonderful!!!!!!
Génial! 👏👏👏
Great instrument and music too! :-)
nice tunes! and so cool!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
That’s great! Do you have a video on building your kora tom?
I don't have a video, but it is very similar, just replace the tin can by a tom!
loving your channel looks a lot of practical fun.
The only problem is that I don't believe your promise at the end that you'll make better videos, I think you're already far better than you think! 🙂
This is a great channel!
Thank you!

It's Amazing
Wow amazing. Is there also a blueprint for one with nore than 6 strings. If no what i have to do diffrent?thank you
The blueprint of the 12 strings instrument is on Patreon, for Patreons only!
I'm gonna build the 12 string when I have the right tools and I'm going to make the strings buzz
Thank you. I would like to suggest an aeolian harp which is played by the wind for those of us with no musical ability.
My place is not very windy, but I would love to work on those!

what music is this, if this is your own that is extremely impressive. Good job!
Thanks! All the music on my channel are my own compositions

Thanks!
Can you upload just the song you made with it? it sounds so nice!
Fantastic 👌
Mind Blowing once again 📢😵🔫
Amazing! Have you experimented with other objects as bodies than tin cans? What else could be used/works well?
really nice music 😘😍💗💪

Hey! Can you make PVC DRUMS? Like darbuka of djembe of somethings similar. I'd like to see it, if you can!
Would it improve durability to add string ferrules to the bridge?
Ca'm fait rêver
Amazing!
That was great!
Amazing! Is there a more detailed build tutorial on your patreon? I really wanna build one, but this one's a bit fast/hard to follow!
Namaste is there a particular measurement / length for the fret
Great video - can I ask why you chose a tin can which is so long as the resonating chamber? Was it not so good with shallower one?
Yes you CAN!
esa es una buena composición musical, humano

What kind of headphones are those? The kora turned out rad, sounds awesome!
Bravo Nico !

I just love your music. Do you have any albums?
Is thne diameter of the tin can about 15 cm?
Do you have some idea for DIY tuners? The tuners kind of make the project more expensive. I can't get them easily
