14 yo me would’ve been all over this song. It’s very reminiscent of middle school. The beat sounds a bit more nostalgic and the voice sounds more high pitched. It gives me good memories. Great work as always 68+1
Now, this? This is just beautiful. I've first discovered you through "your eyes", and I can honestly say it's been my favourite song of the genre ever since. Everything about it just... felt right. The pacing, the beat, the repeated "eyes" in the chorus, easily mistaken for a random noise if not focused on enough... It's great, really. As such, I was really looking forward to your album's release. And, gotta say, although the effort is definetely there - it just didn't feel like something you'd made. It was okay, yeah; but I've only managed to get myself to listen to it twice. It felt too shallow, too generic. This, however, is YOUR style. I ain't no expert at music making, but honestly? this is what you should strive for. This is what makes your songs truly yours: - slow start, accompanied by singing (with the focus shifted on vocals, the beat has enough space and time to slowly build up and layer, without making the whole thing seem rushed and/or unnatural), - THE DROP. It's 30 seconds in, you've pretty much forgotten you're listening to breakcore... and then IT HITS. instead of fully focusing on the drums, you actually keep vocals all the way throughout the chorus, making the sudden change in how significant the beat is to the song seamless. Not to mention, the drums aren't over-the-top - they're there, yeah, but not as dominant as they are in, say, reflection (also, the whistling sound there sort of made me instantly skip the song, lol) Anyways, back to the topic - the lack of vocals that are prominent throughout the whole chorus is what made the album not very your style like in my opinion. It's something you're instantly recognizable for; please keep on doing it. (i won't even mention the sampled "eyes"... this is just ear candy) - 1:25... oh man. The sample itself is perfect; it's also the same "skeleton" you've used in "your eyes" - after a chorusal mix of instrumentals + vocals, you incorporated a little bit of pure instrumentals (with echo), only to add vocals yet again, as you approach the final chorus. - The final chorus here is purely instrumental, which makes it different from the one in "your eyes", and honestly? It's even better that way. In "your eyes", the second chorus is pretty much the same as the first; whilst here, incorporating pure instrumentals (besides the repeated "eyes", but i'm talking about the lack of concise lyrics here) lets you focus on the beat itself, one that was masked by vocals during the first chorus. significant vocals + quiet beat --> significant vocals + absolute fire of a drop and beat --> quiet beat --> absolute fire of a drop and beat The first half of the song is what gets people to stay. The second is what people who have listened to the whole thing come back to. Oh wow, didn't know a comment would turn out to be so long. Hope you'll read this, and I really wish to hear more great songs from you in the future, regardless of what path/style you'll take on :] this, though? this is the 68+1 that i know. welcome back, king.
My comment got deleted by youtube in another song. But it basically said that I hated the vocals you were using in the other songs. They felt 'cheap' and it really didn't convey emotion. Like the vocals in 'eyes' are so soothing and alone, everytime it whispers 'eyes' you just feel it. It doesn't feel overly serious, just normal sad. Also the breathing noises in 'It's cold' are what it sold me the idea that it's number 1. You can hear someone just shaking and shivering from the cold. It's not him saying: "I'm dying of cold", it's actually HIM suffering the coldness, and you can hear it from his breathing. It's humane and also it creates a lot of sympathy. We are empathic by nature, so hearing someone in pain causes pain. Eyes is still more catchy tho. I like this song automatically because of the voices used. They, with your production, make your songs really special. But everytime I hear the robotic voice in your songs it throws me off, and any type of immersion is broken. Sorry if it sounds harsh, it's not my intention, I am just expressing my opinion, so don't take it too seriously. I really REALLY like your music. I consume it as drugs. THANKS FOR YOUR AMAZING MUSIC 70-1.
@68.plus.1 I generally agree with Mr Avocado, the most hard hitting and iconic songs for me have been the ones with minimal lyrics and the unique voices. The emotional delivery of the lyrics are just unmatched. Your Eyes It's cold Promise Me Here I Am Stay I love you Reflection (most different from the above, but still fits. The lyrics are delivered with the mostly flat, static-y style I'm not a big fan of, but the screams are the opposite, showcasing the awesome emotional delivery seen in the other songs above) If the above songs didn't have lyrics, they'd still be bangers because you're amazing at developing creative beats and addicting harmonies. Without lyrics, the songs would allow my imagination to fill in the blanks of what the song is about. I'm Lost and Me Myself and I are amazing examples. But the tiny splash of lyrics you provide, I believe, makes me focus in the emotional direction you want me to, pushing each one over the required top that makes each one the memorable masterpieces that they are. The songs that do have the (imo) flat and static-y lyrics are also the same, but either the amount of lyrics or that delivery style overshadows them imo. I know the flat and static-y lyric delivery is a stylistic choice, and I like the story you write with them, but they're just not my cup of tea. The effort you're putting into your grind is absolutely incredible, and no matter what, you should be proud of what you've accomplished. I'll be here until you blow up!!

Wow, I know so other people were talking about this but, hearing the 'Your eyes' felt really crazy. like it made me feel something, I am not sure if nostalgic is right? considering I only heard that song like a year ago - but the past year has been long, in a good way. so it felt really cool, I don't know, I got goosebumps though. thank you for making, it was amazing :) *Edit* Okay, I just looked up Your Eyes, and I realized It has only been out for 10 months, not even a full year yet (⓿_⓿) holy hell, it felt like FOREVER ago when I first heard that song, yet I already feel nostalgic for it???
