  • The Geddy Lee Tech 21 GED-2112 is normally a dual output rack mounted preamp. This video shows you how you can change it from a dual output to a single output by simply moving one jumper inside of the unit. This may void your warranty so take care when choosing to make this change.

    you can also take a jumper cable and plug it into the Deep output and return in the fx loop and press the 50/50 and than the the output of the drive becomes single. The level 2 than becomes blend of deep and drive and the level one because master volume.

    I've got 2 of these racks and the RBI. The one I use on my amp stack is jumped, the one I use at church is stock. Great preamp. Love it to death. Tech 21 is the truth.

      RBI vs. Ged, why one over the other? What about older Sansamp versions?

      The RBI is a great preamp, very straight forward and great tone for the money. Having that presence dial is what really separates the RBI from the GED and it's foot switch ready....big plus. The GED on the other hand, has slightly different trajectory. With the GED, you have selectable midrange and two channels that can be blended together, the deep channel was meant to emulate power amp drive while the drive channel is where you sculpt your voice. Once you've found your voice on the drive channel, you basically bring in the deep to add your extra lows/subsonics. I have yet to use the later version of the GEDs so I can't really offer my vantage point on those particular products but I DID recently buy a newer RBI...it's the exact same circuitry, just a new face lift. Hope this helps. ☮️✌️

      Why even bother at church? Everything is mixed poorly, it’s always about the vocals.
      DI is all you get. Back behind singers!!!

      There is no later version. There’s the pedal. And the rack.

    Great vid, man! But, I was thinking, wouldn´t be easier to use a Y cable?

    Thanks !!!! Do you know if the original units had this? I heard it was added later?

      I am not sure but if I remember correctly, I bought this quickly after it came out but I cannot guarantee it has it.

    Now if it only had the Tight option like the 2112.

    ...and WHY are we doing this? Is there a measurable audio improvement?

    I would buy a tiny mixer or summing device long before modifying my hardware.

      Sure, that would work too. However, if I can reduce gear, it is one less thing I worry about and one less thing that can create noise in the signal chain. Also, with Tech 21 putting this jumper in place, it is a normal function of the Ged-2112 that does not impact the functionality and it is a reversable modification. I also have the YYZ pedal, which is a normal one input, one output pedal that works very well.

    Does this make both outputs the same (deep and drive) or do you have to use one or the other?

    • @Brak0777
      @Brak0777  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I could answer more clearly but I believe the low end is the master and the high end added to that. Sorry I am not as certain about this

    • @lavaxtris

      it combines the two similar to the YYZ pedal but each has its own independent volumes instead of a mix knob

    Easiest… best way: XLR out of Deep, XLR out of drive… into recording interface. Each on its on channel in your DAW of choice… blend. And blend. One dirty, one cleaner.
    Sansamp is the shit.

    Does this work for the two 1/4” outputs?

      I think so

    • @geekguitars
      @geekguitars 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you will now have 2 outs that combine drive and deep.

    Thanks. Tech 21 did a horrible job with explaining this option. And then they added a Tight switch inside and failed to mention that either.
