    Brett Kingman plays some "low guitar" into the new Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig. The bass version of the Fly Rig 5 gives bassists their own compact, multi-effect platform for use with active or passive pickups. At the heart of the Bass Fly Rig is a tried and true Sansamp to add character to direct signals via XLR or re-voicing other amplifiers via a 1/4" connection. Effects include, chorus, a versatile synthy octave filter, fuzz, compression, boost and a tuner to tie it all together. The Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig is made in the USA and uses a road-ready metal enclosure with silent footswitching and comes with a standard 9V power supply.

    That "Ampeg Tone" he dialed in was sick. Love it. A friend of mine uses this and adores it. He couldn't recommend it enough. XLR right into the board then 1/4" out to his stack. Sounds great!

      The Sansamp circuitry they use in this, is the VT Bass Sansamp unit. VT as in SVT.

    Fantastic overview of this unit. I have the version 2 of this, and after watching this, I am not sure if I would prefer the original. I like the idea of the character knob and the tone control on the compressor. And great job with the Octafilter. It can be very finicky, and you dialed it in perfectly.

    Nice one Burgs. If I was a bass player I'd be all over this. I'm still considering a guitar Fly Rig as a backup to my pedalboard and amp... if anything goes down that I can't sort out in 5 minutes then out comes the Fly Rig.

    I recently used this for my first show on bass and was freaked out when the sound engineer told me he didn’t have a mic for my amp and I needed a line out, which my amp doesn’t have. In a panic I asked the bassist
    Of the first band if I could borrow his amp. I remembered about halfway through the set that there was a line out on the pedal itself!

    Bass Fly Rig or Ampeg SCR-DI? I'm on the proverbial fence.

    2:00 So if you buy the bass rig you can use it for gutiar or bass... If you buy the guitar version can you use it for bass?

    On this demo the sound is clear, but my BFR unit has so much hiss when I turn on high pot or press compressor section on.

    With the natural compression that the Sansamp circuit produces, the compressor feature on this just seems useless to me. Would have liked to have seen a different feature in its place.

    What's the routing? Comp -> Sansamp -> Octave -> Chorus?

    • @cloaca1234
      @cloaca1234 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. It's: Pad -> Comp -> Chorus -> pre -> SansAmp -> post -> Chorus. It's on the manual.

    BOSS ME50B or this Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig? What is best purchase?

    • @louie9373
      @louie9373 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm comparing the two as well. The Bass Fly Rig doesn't work for me because I don't use octave or chorus. If it had delay and reverb I would get it. The ME-50b has Reverb and Delay but also a lot of gimmicky extras I don't need. Between the two I say ME-50b but I suggest taking a look at the Boss GT-1B.

      when i first got this i thought so as well, but there are a few cool uses for it. with the range almost all the way up, no Q, heavy mix and just fuzz button pressed on you can get a heavy almost distortionlike fuzz similar to an ehx bass microsynth.

      This isn't new if you watch old videos. What surprises me more is that he plays bass. I didn't follow him for the last half year or so, so I don't know if he already did it on his channel or if it's something new.

    • @BrettKingman

      I don't really play bass - I just try! But it's so much fun I think I'll devote a little more time to it and try to improve. Cheers.

      Funny, I do the same at the moment. Bought a Flea Bass a month ago. I try some slapping till my fingers hurt and then go back to guitar. A week later I try again. :D
      Have fun with your bass, Burgs!

    NO DRIVE SWITCH? Bye bye... .-. I'd need this to keep a different eq clean sound, and if I want push the drive settings, so it's a bit useless. My MXR distiortion cannot be swapped with this :/

    • @Charlyfromthenuclearcity
      @Charlyfromthenuclearcity 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's the SansAmp you can use as a drive, or the Boost that you can use as a drive if you already use the SansAmp as a preamp.

    • @PANICBLADE
      @PANICBLADE 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      nerd Mike Define what you mean by drive switch, because not only does it have a boost button to raise the level, but this also overdrives the sansamp section if you have it on. It also has fuzz onboard. Which MXR distortion are you referring to?

    • @awlthatwoodcrafts8911
      @awlthatwoodcrafts8911 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bummer is, the EQ is tied to the drive so if you turn off the drive, you've turned off the EQ.
