I appreciate that you showed a piece with which you were less than thrilled. It is absolutely authentic, we often create something that does not meet our expectations. Thank you Andy.
Piece sort of looks like a skateboard with a reclaimed by nature sort of feel to it. I love it❤. In the words of Bob Ross, "There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents." Keep up the great work mate❤
I was curious about what the “mess up” would be, but didn’t see anything until you showed you’d gone through the burl. I get being bummed about it, but this bowl is still a good design and deftly executed. Very nice as always.
I don’t see how you can say you messed up 🫣 I have to tell myself to be patient till the end of each video 👍 all the videos you post are of a wonderful creation you see before we do 🥰 I have been following you for ages and every time you astound me with your creativity and possibilities you see 🙏🌻
good morning Andy from Canada, I don't know what your vision was for this piece was but I see it as a uniquely, beautiful work of art, love the finish that brought out the lovely woodgrain, also I loved the live edge, as a lay person, I thought it perfect!!!
Howdy from western Oregon! I'm definitely in agreement with all of the comments that disagree with the title for this vid! The only mess you made was on your shop floor, and I'd bet you cleaned that up promptly.
Beautiful Result as usual Andy. The live edge would take the focus away from the burl, had you turned it that way. Thank you for sharing your time, your talent and your adventure.👍🤟🪡🎨
Hi Andy that's one gorgeous bowl ! If you'd done it differently you would have lost that wonderful rim and the contrast between the burl at the rim and the heartwood at the base . Yes you might have done something else as beautiful with more of the burl figure but I'd be surprised ! Cracking piece 👍
Far be it for me to argue with a Master Woodturner; once again you've turned me into a covetous little goblin at seeing the final creation, your claim of "messing up" notwithstanding… I always love it when you save some lichen on the natural edge. I like lichen (-:
what? nooo, looks amazing! Love the natural edge. If it were me I'd probably just incase some mossy Bark in resin and display that haha! Im weird lol. With the darkness of the bark reaching into the wood, this piece definitely deserved a natural edge. looks so beautiful thank you for listening to my request. I wish I could double like lol! I really love it! in the future you could try painting the moss a brighter green?? since moisture darkens moss.
I know what it's like to wish you had multiple identical pieces to work with and create vastly different works of art. It's a tough call when you only have one.
Looks good to me. I don’t see a mess up unless you were thinking after the turning you could have done a different shape. Very Natural look even keeping some moss on it looks great to me. Just let the wood speak to you while you turn it.
It IS a vessel. You can throw your keys in it at the front door. You can store your bananas in it. It's wonderful. I also must mention how I love how your lathe spits the tools out when you want to change them.
If you don't experiment you learn less! It's a nice looking piece even if you feel you wasted some of the burl. Maybe being able to keep as much as of bark as you did, you should consider it a compensation for the burl cut away; after all you still have a very successful finished article.
Hi Andy. Never underestimate an ugly chunk of wood, right? I think it is very cool when the optical illusion of carving something invisible happens. What did you spray the remaining moss edge with, glue or some sealant?? It's a pretty piece. I think it was alright.
I appreciate that you showed a piece with which you were less than thrilled. It is absolutely authentic, we often create something that does not meet our expectations. Thank you Andy.
This is beautiful Andy! I think the burl is wonderfully showcased this way.
Piece sort of looks like a skateboard with a reclaimed by nature sort of feel to it. I love it❤.

Thank you 👍
I think you made the right choice. The bowl's an unusual shape and the natural edge suits it. I think the wood is shown off perfectly! ❤
The natural edge really compliments the look of this bowl. Another beautiful piece of art, Andy!
Thank you very much!
Your level of skill is off the charts!!
Thank you
You definitely didn't mess up! That's beautiful!
That turned out gorgeous one of the best I’ve seen
Thanks 👍
My friend, this is excellent work. You really brought out the beauty of the wood!!
Saludos cordiales desde Tuluá Valle del Cauca Colombia 🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴 .
Gracias por su compartir y mostrar tus trabajos.
Sometimes the subtle is more admirable than the bold. Beautiful bowl.
Thanks
Nope, you didn't screw up, it's absolutely beautiful. ❤❤❤
As I watched I waiting to see if you would remove the moss. I’m glad you kept it, it is really unique.
Who would have thought that such a knarly piece of wood would turn out to be so beautiful 😊
That's a nifty trick carving air in the beginning.
Well done Andy. Very lovely piece.
I can’t say I like this as much as some of your other pieces, but that the joy of different tastes. The burls pattern does look very pretty though.
I like the bit of moss you left -- it makes a cute bowl adorable
I was curious about what the “mess up” would be, but didn’t see anything until you showed you’d gone through the burl. I get being bummed about it, but this bowl is still a good design and deftly executed. Very nice as always.

Love the uniqueness of this piece. Great work

Wonderful! Beautiful work.
Messed up where? I loves it 👏🏼👏🏼❤️
Wish I had your talent sir another beautiful piece sir.
Ooh, my kind of bowl.
Nice one Andy.😊
Just beautiful Andy. The wood had a great character. It looks like you have practice with the bowl gauge. Very enjoyable. See you on the next one
Thank you very much!
Niverly done. Always good to see a nice live edge piece.
Well Andy, this is just sensational! I don't see where you messed up, all I see is another gorgeous creation from the talented hands of Andy Phillip!!

So wonderful Andy 👍. A master piece par excellance. Best regards from Hans and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.
Howdy from western Oregon! I'm definitely in agreement with all of the comments that disagree with the title for this vid! The only mess you made was on your shop floor, and I'd bet you cleaned that up promptly.
I did notice that you seemed to be "chasing the grain" there for a bit, but the result is beautiful!!
Very unique & beautiful
Crazy beautiful piece, Andy! Amazing work!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Beautiful Result as usual Andy. The live edge would take the focus away from the burl, had you turned it that way. Thank you for sharing your time, your talent and your adventure.👍🤟🪡🎨
Being to hard on yourself Andy. Thats a really nice piece. Again well done
Very nice I love the grain in the wood.
Thank you!
Very nice piece Andy. Stay safe.
Thanks,
I have no idea what else you could've done. Made it a tad wider? It's beautiful as it is; something I would be proud to have.
You definitely screwed up. And when you unscrewed it, a beautiful piece of art appeared. Fascinating.
There is some truth in your statement that more of the burl could have been shown off but the end result has its own charm. GJ 👍🏻
C'est une très jolie pièce!

Beautiful sir have a great weekend ✌️

It is a beautiful piece of birch
You never messed up, I think it's a beautiful piece, I love the grain on this
That looks great, Andy. I don't think you made a mistake at all. Don't second guess your decisions, just go with them.
Bill
Ahhh, you never mess up, mate
😂 Thanks
what? nooo, looks amazing! Love the natural edge.

dont you dare say you messed up! It looks amazing! lol
Thank you!
I think that it turned out great!
Messed up? Get away…it’s a beautiful natural piece
Ture, If you had gone with a vessel you would have shown more of the burl but you would not have this awesome bowl!
I agree with your assessment. I think it would've made an interesting globe piece
It looks wonderful
I know what it's like to wish you had multiple identical pieces to work with and create vastly different works of art. It's a tough call when you only have one.
You didn't mess up it turn out beautiful
Clickbait!!! Lol thought you had done something wrong but here you have created something awesome. Keep it up.
A piece of artwork
That really very nice.❤❤❤❤😊
Andy it looks good any way
Andy, please show us the messed up part. This looks amazing.
Thanks .. I wrote about it in the video description
,a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you……
Not a mess up to me, another triumph. The edges=wood lace 👍
You may think that you messed up, but I think it is beautiful.
Is that wire going through the wood?
No wire
It's beautiful just the way it is Andy. Definitely a piece to be proud of. . .
I wish the things I messed up looked this good.
Andy, as usual, great work. Do you share what video equipment you use?
Thanks .. I need to upgrade really but I mainly use a gopro 8
I think it came out great. Was that a wet turn or was the wood dry because the green on the bark adds to the piece.
Thanks .. it was dry pretty much
Looks good to me. I don’t see a mess up unless you were thinking after the turning you could have done a different shape. Very Natural look even keeping some moss on it looks great to me. Just let the wood speak to you while you turn it.
Something different,very nice.good little video 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks 👍
I'm sorry, what did you mess up? This is fantastic as always!
It's unusual but very pretty.❤❤
Beautiful I love it.
Pretty grain :)
What did you spray it with?
I used a clear lacquer on the bark
Should have left the moss on the live edge ! Great work as always, cheers.
What type of oil are you using? It’s absolutely beautiful.
Thanks .. I used Danish oil
Unique and beautiful
Thanks
In the beginning, it looked like something a troll would eat. Afterwards, it looked like something an elvish lord would be served from.
Burlesque!
What are you talking about? It’s lovely
Just beautiful.
It doesn't appear pear-shaped to me, Andy. I'd be delighted to have it. 👍
It IS a vessel. You can throw your keys in it at the front door. You can store your bananas in it. It's wonderful. I also must mention how I love how your lathe spits the tools out when you want to change them.
Beautiful messed up work

I definitely see what you mean, a vessel would have been better but the natural edge bowl is still really good. There's always next time I say.😄
If it was a mistake it’s a beautiful one

I guess your wife has gotten used to listening to the wood turning noise. 😃
Wonderfully weird. It looks as if it's about to take off like an exotic moth.
One of a kind
Beautiful
Thank you
Yup! Messed up big time! Took a manky old log and turned it into an absolutely beautiful Birch bowl. Wish I could mess up like that...
😂 Thankyou
