- In todays installment of science...my turbocharged Yukon
XL aka Uncle Rob is thrown on the Dynojet rollers for science once again. This time with a brand new Deatschwerks fuel pump capable of supplying the boosted 5.3 with proper amounts of e85 ethanol fuel! In the last video we dyno tested uncle rob on pump gas 93 octane and got some pretty consistent numbers to use for actual data comparison. Today we load it up with E85 Ethanol and test it again with the SAME BOOST LEVEL just to see how much power it is actually worth through the timing increase and lower intake temps!

This is so cool to see. Believe it or not, I have a 2002 burban with a built 5.3, 4l80, 76mm turbo, 525 pump on E85. Makes just over 600hp to the wheels. I’d love to race Uncle Rob in the future! So cool to make big heavy things go fast 🤘🏼

I used to have a 280zx that was stock turbo and it was decently quite sounding car. I made maybe 200hp at 7psi and a turbo civc asked what power so I told him 200hp. Than he said he was making 250 with an ebay turbo. His girl was in the passenger seat recording and he got drug hard it was pretty sad honestly lol. All of this was at yellow belly in 2019.

The small clarifications in the science of power are pretty cool, shows that you actually understand whats going on and you're teaching a ton of people the fundamentals.
Torque being a measurement of rotational force, HP being a measurement of how many times that force is repeatable over time.

On your uncle Robs Denali transmission I’ve experienced that before it’s a combination of the flywheel and torque converter and the pump trying to put the fluid through a plugged up passage with more pressure than normal in the solenoid in the valve body in the 1-2 shift or it could be a simple that the second gear valve isn’t getting the proper voltage causing it to not open how that case hasn’t split open is nuts
What a rollercoaster ride of emotions in this one. So good, and getting better every video. Love all the in between stuff nobody else shows with all the problems, not just the hero shots.

Lol Uncle Rob brings back memories for me. My parents bought a maroon 04 Suburban back in 2005 when I was 12 years old. Rode in that thing for half my childhood. Took it out of retirement a couple summers ago and the transmission+transfer case locked up 6k miles into a cross country road trip, where it finally met its end.
God I loved that thing. Absolutely ripped up forest roads with Falken Wildpeaks. The ole girl had two gaping rust holes in the floor, constant check engine light and a lot of soul!!
Ooo. I was so close on the guess. Bet that regulator will help to get that up to my guess of 545. Then cam and heads and this thing will hit 650. Cant wait! Also cant wait for Uncle George shirts. That thing is going to be a beast

If you ever decide to do a long sleeve shirt especially of Candyman, I will buy 3. I like wearing long sleeve shirts they are quite versatile, it can be both a long and a short sleeve, it just depends where you put the sleeves. Great for people who run on the cool side, I have very low blood pressure.

Love the sound of Uncle Rob spooling up and down, very cool! You'll get this dialed in and it will clean house @ the People's Track. Your tuner has his game on for sure as well, he doesn't say much but gits 'er done! 500+ RWHP is impressive, especially after going through the trans and the xfer case.

I don't even bother building engines for pump gas anymore. I fill barrels with E85 every spring and run on that. With the price of fuel going up so fast right now, I am going to ramp up my vodka production so I can make 500 to 1000 gallons next year. If I take one of the old cars or trucks with high compression on a road trip, I'll take a couple extra cans along and run it on E85 once I get into Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, etc. No stations within two hours of where I live sell E85 here anymore. The summer daily GTO has too much compression for pump gas. Iron headed 455s with 11.5:1 won't run long on 93, and who wants to pay $4.19 they are asking for 93 around here?
I like the power from more compression, 13:1 is very streetable on ethanol, it runs cooler so I have to use a 200F or 210F thermostat so it doesn't milkshake the oil, but it never overheats even on the hot days. I don't mind looking around for a station that has E85, you can find them on apps easy enough. Best part of making it run on E85 is you can make fuel yourself rather than pay whatever the gas stations want for it. Want more power? Throw more fuel at it. lol With my NA engines the best power is around 7.5:1 AFR, I run them between 8.5:1 and 10:1 AFR by my wideband, they get the best mileage around 9:1 AFR and still make lots of power. My focus is mileage, making power is super easy.
Costs me ten cents a gallon to make fuel with tree sap, most of that is running the still. I'm working on an electric one so I can regulate the temp easier and there is minimal chance of fire if some of it spills. Cattails cost a bit more because you need an enzyme to convert the starch to sugar so the yeast can eat it and piss vodka. I'm looking for an old milk tank, like from a daily farm to turn into a boiler.

Awesome video, as usual. Coincidentally, I just converted my supercharged 3800 regal to E85 last week.
for quick mental calculations the TQ and HP numbers are the same a 5252 rpm. The equation for HP= TQxRPM/5252 so if you know a little algebra you can solve for TQ at any RPM. I google a calculator to make it easy lol. I love the testing with uncle Rob keep up the good work!

Drive the broken piece of the dipstick down into the pan, it will come out on the drain plug someday. This is what the dealer does on flat rate, I was skeptical but it works.

A cam and spring would make sense but if they do work on like Camaro and Corvettes they probably have some of the blue GM springs or whatever which I know are good for like.550 lift I don't know if they have much more seat pressure but probably and it would be interesting to see what you pick up form just springs

Owo nice numbers get that regulator fixed and drive shaft before it goes boom boom please 25 dollars is cheeper then 175-250 for a new driveshaft and better exhaust will help alot it's choking it down alot
And I know tanner is one of your buddy's or w.e but I really feel like this thing needs to be tuned by like Jeremy at fasterproms or Kevin at ksr I feel like tanner is the kind of tuner that would try something questionable and if it blows up he will blame a parts failure or something like that. I have a feeling that's why he's making changes without saying what he's doing incase it pops the motor he can change what he did to the and say o idk what Happened but hopefully not

interesting.im using the stock fpr setup too,i have a slight fuel fluctuation issue.maybe that is my problem.. however i have the terminator x and it seems to do decent keeping up..oh,and i have a 04 yukon the same color as uncle rob but not an xl,i have been on the fence about turboing it after my sn95 ls turbo car is totally finished..(it kinda is tho) but anywho thanks and you guys keep up the good work!!!

the math can work either way, but the dyno measures HP directly and calculates the torque. it has to know the engine rpm, because it has no idea what gear ratio you are using. if the dyno knew your total gear ratio and tire size it could use that to calculate torque.

would def suggest valve springs before i did mine in my 01 1500 it would get valve float around 7000 after valve springs able to rev out to 8 no issue. i got luck with 01 it was 1500 2wd ext cab with a 4l80e

So the factory regulatory works for pump gas but not for full E85? Good for around 500 to the tire is damn good for old stock parts.
There’s an adjustable regulator that replaces the stock vacuum one, that’s direct bolt in for the stock rail
