    Topic: PLAQUE HYPOTHESIS IN PERIODONTAL DISEASE (Dental Plaque Part 3)
    Plaque hypotheses are theories to explain the role of plaque bacteria in causing periodontal destruction. Over years there were many authors who came up with different plaque hypothesis
    1890 - Traditional nonspecific plaque hypothesis
    1976 - specific plaque hypothesis
    1986 - Updated nonspecific plaque hypothesis
    1994 - Ecological plaque Hypothesis
    2012 - Key stone pathogenic model.
    So lets discuss these further.

    Dr If gingiva is made of keratinized stratified squamous epithelium why can't it undergo regeneration while the epithelium in general is highly regenerable such as the skin????????????????? +

    • @periohub4293
      @periohub4293  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gingiva does have a good regenerative capacity. Infact ginigval fibroblasts contributes to regeneration with very little morbidity or scarring.

      @generatingnewworld2902 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@periohub4293 Then why it can't regenerate in cases such as gingival recession 😅😅

    • @periohub4293
      @periohub4293  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@generatingnewworld2902 Please understand Gingival recession occurs due to certain underlying causes ... it can be plaque associated inflammation or tooth malposition or thin gingival biotype and all these conditions lead to reduction in the quantity of connective tissue and subsequent reduction in blood supply influencing the repair and regeneration.
      Under normal conditions gingiva has a good regenerative capacity.
