They do visit! Every year it can vary though. Institutes like IIT-B offers you good exposure through which you can build a network with seniors, alumini and explore for internship opportunities. It requires effort from our side as well :)

Appreciate your interest. As such Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering involves a lot of maths - especially dealing with data, probability & statistics and modelling. Strengthening these aspects can help you a lot.
Directly jumping into the software can be a bit complicated. But if you want to try a software, you can try Vissim.

Yes, if you are doing research on the latest trends it is going to help you in industry. Other than that, a good university PhD with a good research is valued in academia :)

There are multiple projects in gulf countries. People have gone, given you have a connect / try for it.

Some of the common softwares used now are Vissim, Cube Voyager to name a few.
Sir I wanted to know if the opportunities are limited for girls in this field, a few of my seniors told me that it will have more of site work and girls are usually not preferred
No, they are not limited. Transportation Planning, Highway Design - these are more of consultancy/design work from office.
Another aspect what they could be mentioning is related to pavements. As simple as laying roads and monitoring it - that could be more of site work.

Then go for it, since it is a Masters programme you need to like it as well. Comparing both branches, nothing is like more superior than the other. Also watch the expert video on Geotechnical Engineering to have a good idea.

You can choose to do a traffic engineering related project in your city/town, this will involve data collection; You can also choose to do something materials/pavement related based on your lab facilities.
