Great video, Jack! I've never played this game, but I have read "The Inferno" twice -- back in High School and College, respectively. It's been about 8 years since I last read it, but it's definitely among my favorite epic poems and serves as an interesting insight into the mind of a 14th Century Florentine. It's always cool to see a well-designed Death boss battle, as well. Death is a recurring boss in the Castlevania series, but his quality and difficulty both range wildly across the various titles, being too pathetically easy in games like Symphony of the Night and Harmony of Dissonance while being soul-crushingly difficult and frustrating to fight in some of the earliest games. Rondo of Blood and Aria of Sorrow have my favorite Death fights, and, in those games, he feels more like a 2D version of Martyr Logarius (who was clearly an homage to Death, just as Cainhurst was an homage to Castlevania). Mentioning that Death was your favorite first boss in any game got me thinking about my favorite first bosses in gaming. After quite a bit of thought, I narrowed down my top 10 first bosses (limited to one per franchise): 1. Ghirahim (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, 2011) 2. CyberDemon (Doom, 2016) 3. N. Gin (Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, 2020) 4. Del Lago (Resident Evil 4, 2005) 5. Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, 2019) -> I'll only include one FromSoft title for the sake of variety. 6. The Stranger (God of War, 2018) 7. Major Ocelot (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, 2004) 8. Pompy, the Presumptuous (Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, 2014) 9. Engels Goliath (Nier: Automata, 2017) 10. Stained Glass Demon (MediEvil, 1998) Anyway, I'm enjoying your content as always and look forward to your future uploads!
I too think this game is very underrated. Being familiar with the story of Dante's Inferno I was hyped to discover there was a game about it. The gameplay isn't really the standout but the story, environments and designs were what hooked me to complete the game. I honestly wouldn't mind a remaster of some sorts for this game but knowing EA that will never happen. Plus Visceral Games shut down in 2017

If you liked the lore of this game, you should play “ultrakill” In there you play as a robot called “V1” travelling through the nine circles of hell while killing anything in your path However other then the nine circles of hell it’s quite a bit different - having its own interpretation for each layer, and own unique lore.

I remember buying this at Walmart from the $20 rack lol. Lured in by just the cover, once I started this game and whooped the Grimm Reaper’s a$$ in the first couple mins I was instantly hooked. Everything about this game is incredible
Great game, have to say when I finished the game on max difficulty back in the day, I remember I ended up discovering and mastering all of Lucifer mechanics and movements, hes a very well designed boss just very exigent one, I believe for the punch AoEs you didnt need to jump but roll instead and then jump for the last hit for example.
I actually got this game for free with Xbox live gold years ago. Never fully played it but I do know almost all of the bosses. Cerberus is probably my favorite fight just because it's such an odd and standout design. Really sums up how weird and disturbing this game gets. Didn't expect to see this game but was pleasantly surprised.

God I love this fucking game. Fuck EA for murdering Visceral. Maybe some knew dev can make a spiritual successor to this like Striking Distance is doing for Dead Space with The Calisto Protocol.
@@Cytonox Yes the richness of the literature in both of Alighieri's other two parts are just as much as in Inferno. It would have been hard to think of a reason to fight through heaven but they could have figured something out. I mean they literally had a tease in the game for a deeper plot.
Bought this when it came out, took it back within 24hrs as it was released with a game breaking bug that made you unable to continue pass a certain point.
@@Cytonox I may give it another try if they've fixed it, it wasn't a bad game, just broken once you got to a certain point. Long time since I had this though so I'm suprised it's still available
If they re made this game for ps5 I would consider giving the ps5 a chance only thing is they would censor it beyond holy hell cause someone might cry or get upset and not enjoy a classic

The huge fiery tyrant demon when you control it and smash things in your path was the best part. God of war did nothing like that.
