    Just planed this crop today, got the seeds yesterday. I really have to thank you guys! I have a pretty bad anxiety disorder and since I first began watching you guys and growing in July, this has really helped relax me and I've noticed my reliance on Valium has decreased. Can't thank you enough for that!

      That's awesome to hear that this has helped! We both suffer from anxiety also so we can relate to the suffering that it causes. We're happy to hear that our content has helped you find some relief and we hope it continues to subside!

    I am about 2 days away from my first harvest of Cress. It looks really good, and healthy, my only problem so far - and nobody has mentioned it yet - is that I don't like the smell of the seeds. I am growing in my kitchen and the smell every time I come into my kitchen is not very pleasant. If I like Cress I will have to grow outside I think! Thanks for all your great videos!!

    Cress has been the No.1 microgreen in the UK for decades, with mustard also being popular, never really called microgreens ......the main dish for cress has always been boiled eggs chopped,mayo and cress mixed together, mostly on sandwiches

    After the harvest, will the cress grow back in that tray by just adding water? Nutrients also include more calcium than found in milk.

    After two months of testing to see what grows best in our conditions, our family has discovered cress is one of two microgreens we can all agree to intensely dislike!! (the other is mizuna radish) :)
    You've reached the magic tipping point in subscriber count, it looks like: you're about to go over 21,000! WHOOOP!!!
    True-Leaf is more affordable, but they are significantly slower to ship than Johnny's. I order from both companies.

    • @OnTheGrow
      @OnTheGrow  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      hahaha they aren't for everyone!!
      It's so wild! now we're almost to 27,000!!! 🥳🥳 It's happening so fast.
      Completely agree. We order Johnny's sometimes to! They have great edible flower seeds!

    Very informative. Do the roots left in the tray regrow for another harvest and what is the procedure?

      Some crops will regrow. Others will not. Just keep up with light and water procedures. 😊

  • @RovingPunster

    N00b question - you used cococoir with a slotted tray, but then bottom watered for 6 days. I thought that because roots cant consistently get down to water thru a slotted tray that theyd need to be top watered, or better yet that a mesh tray would be used instead of slotted. Can you (or someone) help clarify whether slotted or mesh is optimal for use with cococoir for microgreens ? What determines the use of one vs the other ? Thanks !
    The parts for my 1st rack have begun arriving ... yay.

  • @andrewlim2065

    Thanks so much for the video! I have a question on the black out period. Why do you need to flip the TOP tray after the seeds have germinated and continue to keep them out of light? Also, I noticed you didn’t add any weight for cress. Why is that so?

      Thank you for watching Judith9110!!! 😄 Glad you enjoyed it! This is a great observation...
      🙂Cress seeds have two factors that alter our technique...they are delicate small seeds and they have that tacky like feeling...so we don't push down during germination and we mist the canopy to help soften and release the hulls.

    I'm going to buy seeds from TrueLeafMarket for the first time! I've just been using the small packs from groceries stores. Any suggestions on better roots? My microgreens look healthy, but they have very tiny roots

    • @akindofmagick
      @akindofmagick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the variety. Some plants have tiny roots; peas have ginormous roots. If your root tips are healthy and white, and your greens look healthy and taste great: you're clearly doing something right! :)

    These are really annoying to grow commercially.
    I noticed you are having the same issue as us. The seed sticks to the coco coir and it lifts pieces of the medium up into the canvas.
    When I grow crops like cress and Basil now, we are using a nice coco coir mat to prevent this from happening.

  • @MarkMark-bl5qc
    @MarkMark-bl5qc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    this is the wrong way of growing cress u should use less seeds. cress is a plant still growning along winter and in harvest u killed all the plants u must let the leaf in the center of plant to grow and u can harvest the same plants along the season and the leaves will become in different shape big and strong u can not imagine its shape u can eat cress with fish and bread
    by the way when u grow cress in warm or hot wheather it goes directly to flowering so the people grow it in Winter for its leaves
