To add to all this is the one relative unknown and crucial event the public is not aware of - the farm bill was hastily drafted by the Modi government after a teleconference with several foreign institutional investors in mid-2020. In attendance were also Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. And these funds had tripped over each other to invest in both corporates’ ventures in e-commerce. Farm produce was a critical need for these ventures. And this came the farm bill with zero state government consultation. All the posturing about crop diversification is hogwash.
It is so difficult to comment on such a deep seated rot in the financial sector and its nexus with the corporate world. It seems like the word democracy should be relegated once and for all to the realm of fairy tales, where things always come right at the end. Because in fairy tales, there are good people and evil ones. Where there were evil kings who had all the power to oppress the poor, and good fairies to set it all right. All wishful flights of fantasy.
But for the few people who care, this conversation has been very enlightening.
Kleptocracy, kakistocracy r old terms. shahicracy is the new autocracy.

Many amongst the privileged class would prefer farming to be unsustainable so that they can buy the agricultural lands for their farmhouses and non-agricultural use. Corporates will only be using India as a market for its products.
