    Verbatim from Abu, “Any combination of brake blocks can be engaged or disengaged. To engage (turn on), slide the preferred number of brake blocks away from the center of the spool. Each block will click into position. Once activated, the brake blocks will be able to freely move up and down the pins, thereby applying brake pressure.”

      I've caught numerous channel cat 6 - 12 lbs on it and a 3.75lb largemouth no issues. Reels smooth, casts great. I had a goose fly into my tight line while it was out with the line alarm set. It went screaming crazy (the alarm) and everything was fine with the reel still. I will tell you I HATE the slide button for the alarm, its stiff ass hell and tough to switch on/off initially... but its wearing in some. The free spool alarm feature is nice and sensitive though, doesnt make the fish pull very hard at all and spook em, they can run with it and don't seem to mind or realize the little bit of tension. I have a Penn that is 5x tougher to take line from with the alarm set.

    Good video. What i didn't get is having more tabs in decrease the braking power or increase it? Mine doesn't cast far either. Having 2 tabs out like yours should then cast farther?

    • @Mcluvin73
      @Mcluvin73 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spool tension should be the last form of spool control. Use the break blocks. You have to learn thumb control on the spool. If you tighten the spool tension more than just touching you'll never cast any real distance. The less weight you cast the more blocks you need to engage.

      @@Mcluvin73I take it that that’s the exact reason I cast farther when i have my spool *almsot* wiggly loose, and have my brakes dialed in?

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll cast about 10 feet... maybe 15 if you wanna sling your bait off. lol Learn with 2 brakes on, in a year go down to one. One is good, no throwout brakes on is devestating backlashing.

    does that mean its a fake copy Abu reel if its made in China?

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it means Abu has Chinese made reels now. Why do you think they can't have Chinese made models in their lineup??? It is genuine and it is made in China, thats why it's $80. Quality standards can and do change with the times.

    From the factory they come with all six blocks engaged. Unless you don't have any thumbs, two blocks are all you need.
    With six blocks, you'll be throwing your bait unless you use more than a 3 ounce sinker.
    The swedish ambassadors have the same as you called it shitty ass gears.

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it was virtually uncastable when I bought it. That's why I had to find the brakes despite the lack of a how to video existing. I'm not afraid to take things apart cause I can't get them back together, I'm afraid to take things apart without knowing what's going to happen when I do. i.e. pins, springs, washers, ball detents etc. falling or shooting out of place without me knowing where they were.😖 Rather see someone else roll them dice first.😆

    • @independentthinker.273
      @independentthinker.273 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phantomshtter If you were worried about things blowing up or blowing apart that would happen if it was an old classic style Penn reel. I took apart an old and old Ocean City which is similar to the Penn. Parts went everywhere. With the Abu Garcia's and other round reels that are built on the same platform, there are more encased. But when working on any reel, make sure you do it over concrete or a hard floor of some kind. If one of those parts goes flying working over carpet you'll never hear where it landed or bounced off to. You'll need a metal detector to locate it. 😄

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      WRONG. Listen pal , if you own an "Ambassador" then you're the one with a knock off. This is an Ambassadeur and it IS made in China. I'm not fucking stupid, it's a genuine Abu. I can read the label that clearly says MADE IN CHINA as well as the Abu Garcia genuine product hologram on the clearly genuine Abu Garcia package. You seriously think Sportsman's Warehouse is packaging bootleg Abu's in genuine packaging? LMAO... This isn't 1970 anymore gramps, this is a Chinese made $80 Abu Garcia baitcaster with plastic gears and paper thin side plates, get over it. Everybody has their shit made in China because people want everything either free or cheap. Welcome to the 20th century! Now, if you still think you're right then link me to the statement Abu Garcia made that their products will never be made anywhere other than Sweden. P.S. No such statement exists so stop wasting both our time.
