- The fine voice from the Democratic Republic of the Congo - Lokua Kanza live in concert at the 30th Africa Festival Würzburg in 2018. Please note that all rights are reserved. Any copy or download of the concert is strictly prohibited.
Lokua Kanza has been accompanying the Africa Festival like no other African artist. Ever since his first performance in 1998 at the 7th Africa Festival, he has been enthusing the audience with his performances again and again with timeless and terrific musical quality. Having an anniversary without him would be unthinkable. In 1991 he took his first big steps in the “Soul Makossa Band“ of Manu Dibango and the “Bwana Zolou Gang” of Ray Lema. They inevitably lead him to a successful solo career. As a songwriter he even wrote some tailor-made songs for the amazing Miriam Makeba (CD “Homeland“ / 2000). Therefore he will remember the great Mama Africa during this concert evening in the main tent, too. In 2006 he was given the Africa Festival Award for his musical talent.

The Africa Festival Würzburg has been established in 1989 and is the largest festival for African music and culture in Europe. More than 400 groups and individual artists from 56 African and Caribbean countries have performed live on stage in Würzburg so far and represented the cultural wealth of the African continent to more than 2.100.00 visitors.

Il y'a LOKUA , Richard BONA du Cameroun des artistes qui sont capables de produire une telle" force de frappe" émotionnelle en direct.Ce que j'apprécie chez Monsieur LOKUA au delà du talent c'est davantage l'humilité qui le caractérise: il reconnait la grandeur de MANU DIBANGO du Cameroun, de Papa WEMBA ... C'est une qualité qui manque à certains artistes de nos jours ?qui se croient "arrivés". Merci LOKUA. Thanks 4 all.

One of the best shows I ever saw, SF CA, rainy Thursday in the early 90's. Great American Music Hall. Only 40 people came to the show, and Lokua played His heart out for us. I think it was all acoustic. I may be wrong. It was a while ago. Been a fan ever since. I LOVE these songs. Majestic Voice.
