its interesting to note. that at least she had ambition. she knew what she wanted and used the education she did have to get what she wanted. even though it didnt turn out the way she wanted. at least her life was laid out for her. un like so many woman whos futures were uncertain except marriage.
You're right, we definitely can't fault her for trying to gain as high a position as possible! I think she might be viewed more kindly if she hadn't been involved in a couple of plots and maybe was kinder to Maria.
Completely agree with you, however could of changed said name to Anne Boleyn, Catherine De Medici, Mary Queen of Scots... fast all the way forward to Queen Consort Camilla 🤪
finally someone who's less known for real😅 sorry! watching this video made me feel sorry for both generation of Medici girls who became queens of France! Not only being the second or last choice for their husbands, being accused of things they didn't do, but also having dark legend about their lives which continued centuries after their deaths💔Catherine Henriette, I wouldn't exactly call the smartest mistress, but luckiest one. since by your descriptions, her behavior would be considered extremely annoying and rude for that time (Anne Boleyn who was no where near as aggressive as her, was still considered cruel or even mad) so, I can't exactly say she had much of wisdom, only a high talent and ability in manipulating the king. and I don't know but I kinda find it funny that most of royal mistresses in France were extremely jealous of Queens. because normally we might think it's the other way around😅
Haha, I do throw the odd unknown in here! 🤣 And you're so right about her being a very lucky person - with another king, it likely would have gone very differently. And yes, both Catherine de'Medici and Maria absolutely got a raw deal. Both also managed to 'rule' in some way during their reigns as well, though, so I guess that's something!
I love your videos and always look forward to see who the next historical figure you will educate us about will be. I love learning about so many different people that I never heard of and learning more for those I have heard of. Would it be possible for you to do a video on Lucretia Borgia?
Hi, awesome live history video I enjoyed it. How are you and Mallard your cat doing? I'm doing well. My cat Benjamin is doing well also. He's big and happy. We have spring like weather in Ontario Canada. How is the weather where you are? Have a great day see you next video. Have you ever done St. Donats castle in Wales. I heard there's lots of history to it. 😊
Hi Michelle, I'm good, thanks! I hope you and Benjamin are doing well. 😊 Spring sounds lovely, we're still in grey wet weather, sadly! 🤣 I'll add it to my list as I definitely want to cover more Welsh history over the next year.
I'm so intrigued about the French royals from history!! I haven't looked, but have you done anything on the Kings? I would love to hear more about the kings also! Love your content! Thank you!!
Hi I love your job 😍, and I have suggestions to the next videos 😂, tell about Queen Maria I and his husband Pedro III of Portugal, D. João VI of Portugal and his wife Carlota Joaquina of Spain and they children 😅 I a lot people. D. Maria leopoldina of Austria empress of Brazil and Her children. Thanks 😂
Oh, good one. So, with the caveat that there's not a lot of *unbiased* sources on this...sort of. Do I think it crossed his mind for a short while? Yes. It seems very sinister to us (rightfully, in my opinion!) that someone should look at their niece and consider marrying them. However, this wasn't about romance, or even lust, but about dynasty and royal claim. Richard knew how shaky his position was with no heir and considering what had happened regarding the Princes in the Tower (as in they were AWOL in some form). Elizabeth of York was not only popular, but marrying her would have strengthened his claim against the Yorkists who didn't like Richard. There's an argument he could have married Elizabeth Woodville, but she wasn't likely to produce an heir. It's also not impossible he would have been able to get a dispensation, we know that such close relationships were given one throughout history. Now, do I believe Richard actually pursued this with any seriousness? No. There's no evidence beyond rumours that he showed any interest in Elizabeth of York in that way, and it wouldn't have brought much to the table in the way of cash or land, especially when there were much better foreign options out there. There's far more evidence that he was trying to seriously gain a match with Portugal. And the one letter that 'proves' Elizabeth had romantic designs on her Uncle has been proven to almost certainly have been doctored by the man who found it. I don't like Richard III, really, but neither do I think he was going to marry his niece. He was an intelligent man, and would have known that was not a real option. But I also think it was an easy brush for enemies to tar him with, especially once he publicly declared he had no intention of marrying Elizabeth, because then of course they were all, " Well why say it if he's not thinking it? Ah ha!" 🤔🤣
@HistorysForgottenPeople I like Richard the III he is my favourite monarch and I don't believe he was a kid killer nor was he going to marry his niece. The tudors made up a lot of lies to make themselves look impeccable...when the reality is...they were monsters themselves 🤷♀️ especially Henry VIII. My ancestors are some of the plantagenet Kings so will stay loyal to them, like Richard III family moto "loyaulet me lie" loyalty binds me.
Hi friend. I hope you had A great weekend. I just have to tell you; there was this great documentary about Jack Johnson(boxer) it was made by Kevin burns.

Hopefully you'll enjoy next week as well - I'm doing my big video on Madame du Pompadour! 😊 (Hopefully my pronunciations keep improving! 🤣)
Please do anne of brittany.
Amazing video on this intriguing lady at the French court. Fascinating storytelling and beautiful portraits. Thank you 💖
You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😊
One might say not being a wife kept her alive.

So, two de Medici married two King Henri of France..hmm
Just to confuse us years later when trying to keep track of everyone's name! 🤣
@@HistorysForgottenPeople it seems the Royals like to also use the same names down the bloodline..they are not really creative..LOL

My takeaway from this is Catherine sounds like she possessed a tongue sharper than blade.
That or she had other magic areas! 🤣 I honestly would love to go back in time and hear how that conversation went.
Poor Marie

Thank you, it's always great to have new suggestions! 😊 I'm definitely going to revisit more Portuguese history this year, so that's super helpful.
I would like to know about them.
For the question of the week, do you believe the rumours that Richard III was looking into marrying Elizabeth of York after Anne Neville’s death?
No I don't as he was actually looking into marrying Joanna of Portugal.
Oh, good one. So, with the caveat that there's not a lot of *unbiased* sources on this...sort of.

Can you do the Princess Lambelle? Marie Antoinette’s best friend.

I have already! Here's her video ☺- th-cam.com/video/BGfgas0QSwI/w-d-xo.html
What's the name of the background music? It's beautiful.❤
It's 'No.1 A Minor Waltz' by Esther Abrami, from the TH-cam Audio library. ☺
@@HistorysForgottenPeople Thank you so much!! ❤❤
Does anybody know if she was a relative of the writer Honorè de Balzac? He lived during the 1800s.
Hope your cold is, by now, giving you a break😭

No, I caught another one! 🤣 Or it got worse, or something. Ah, the joys of having a young child at school who likes hugging everyone. 😳🤣
I would like to think that today's monarchs are only harmless decorations...but alas not in the far west where I'm from...ron
