Best demo I've seen of this. The info-- clean, clear and upfront and the sound demo-- thorough and custom. And absolutely nothing obnoxious and all amped up dude bullshit. Rationality, then followed up by creativity. We will lose our minds on our own time.
Great review! I appreciate that you play through the sounds based on how the synth patch inspires you. I've seen too many reviews where guys will still play it like a guitar, licks etc. If you want to recreate a synth on your guitar, you need to play the guitar like a synth.
the organ part of the video was really good example of this - the chords sounded great, and he played the guitar like an organ for that part - really solid stuff
Best review/demo for this pedal that I’ve seen so far. Most guitarists just want to shred with this thing, which ends up being very obnoxious and off-putting. You actually let the notes ring out which is extremely helpful to those who need to hear the quality of sounds before they spend $200 on this thing.
Excellent Review bud, you go into all the beautiful sounds and textures, and now I'll be able to show my pals this to explain to them about this pedal works showing your excellent vid
man! i thought "wow what a super in depth review" not even realizing i was only at then" intro/overview. What an amazing demonstration you've done. Bravo mate!
I was given this pedal a month ago. I didn't expect much. Boy was I surprised. Being that I am hip deep in the middle of recording an instrumental Christmas album, I can hear this all over it. The problem? I can hear it on tracks that are already done. Oh well. There are worse things to complain about. Great demo.
A great thank you for taking the time to run thru the patches. This will be extremely useful to me in live situations where electrical outlets are not available. Seems to be a current supply shortage at this time but I will be getting this . THANK YOU again!!!
Damn- talk about being late for the show- but this pedal is awesome. Can't believe it's been out four years and I've never seen or heard of it before. I have seen their 200 series synth pedal- which is amazing, but out of my reach financially speaking- this one though, I can afford, and it's amazing as well imo. Definitely going to get one- that said, it will probably force me to change modelers if I do. I run the Headrush MX5 and it's great- accept when you start trying to use complex, digital pedals through the fx loop- latency. The MX5 on its own already has latency, but it's so brief- measured in milliseconds- you don't sense it. This pedal is the same way- it has latency, but it's so brief you would never notice. But- if you put the two together- you just doubled the latency and now- you can sense it. Like it or not, it takes time to process a signal- and when you stack digital pedals the latency stacks up as well. But- from what I understand the new UAFX Lion 68 has such a small latency you can stack it with stuff like this and still be o.k. I wonder what it would sound like running through this pedal directly into say a cab sim like the ox box or Captor X- then into a powered class D cab. Idk- but I'm going to find out.
I'm keen to add this to my SY300 setup! I see there is a general-ish sweet spot for those tone and depth knobs, which eases my concerns about too much tweaking between songs.
Yeah, many interesting sounds and certainly worth the money. However, live it may sound like a cheap keyboard, even with really good tracking. Also, you have to at least somewhat learn to play keys/ synth licks, although some sounds work well on guitar licks. That’s why even advanced guitar synths aren’t used live much, although this smaller pedal isn’t so cumbersome to lug around. A creative tool, sure, and if you mess around enough you’ll get sounds that just might be good with a band.
This pedal definitely has my interest. I WISH that I knew how to operate the live expressive functions without using my feet- I’m mostly paralyzed from the waist down, so no ankle function.
put the expression pedal on the arm of a chair and push down with your elbow while playing? It'd be tricky but I think it could be done. Other than that, you'd probably have to hack it with an arduino/microcontroller and use some sort of sensor to translate to different potentiometer values on the pedal. Like an accelerometer to change the effect as you move the guitar up and down or something like that
@@paragamer85 You should check out a b-bender. It's a guitar that works like a whammy / dive bar when you move it away from your body. I'm sure an expression pedal can be fitted to a guitar in that same fashion. That actually inspires me to make something similar.
PMTVUK Very useful demo. Much appreciated. Was this all played through a clean amp or overdriven with the more aggressive tones ??? All the best & stay well !!!
That sounds like an interesting idea. That sounds like a JamOrigin - MidiGuitar but in pedal format. I've never seen that done in pedal form but it would be a cool alternative to carrying a laptop.
I love the review, your really showing its power, and what can be done with this, I waited a long long time for something like this to be accessible and when I did get it , My God it was the last one in the shop, on the feast day of one of the most rock roll saints St Francis of Assisi, and one of my favourite Saints He was a true human synthesizing faith and reality and to get the last pedal in the shop was like a prayer answered, its very very good pedal, it improves your playing, scope, it fires up and inspires you to play better, I have no Doubt Gods Hand was in this pedal, the sounds are a dream to play, its astonishing, especially if your into Gospel music and Prince , its amazing, right I've said enough , thank God and St Francis for this all the way from Dublin Ireland slan agus Bail Dia Ort agus Beanacht,
I have ordered SY 1 in Oct 5, 2019 on Found Sound Australia. Don't know when will I get it in my hand. They say that the backorder is very huge. Please let me know when do I expect to get it from BOSS THANKS AND REGARDS.😊
I always see people trying to hate on it in the comments probably old guitar heads but just about everywhere I look it's on backorder or already sold out
No sound during the full nine SECONDS that previewed this pedal with bass (2.14 to 2.22)! Be really great to hear a decent review done on bass as this is being sold as being "equally good on bass as well as guitar".
I had Synth 9 and liked the sounds but for starters the patch cable kept making it's way out... so frustrating then to top it off it had issues powering up with my Strymon Zuma... Bye bye EHX hello Boss SY-1 as of yesterday. Cheers :-)

Bigtime, watching guys shred using this pedal is a pain in the brain.

So true
Exactly. Plug it in and play blues...what!??
This is one of the most inspiring demos with this pedal and I agree with WCSkills

Just bought one of these yesterday, absolutely incredible pedal!
Got to say this has to be one of the best reviews on this padel..
Great now I can play jump by van halen on my guitar
I was thinking the same thing . . . The guitar parts aren't too difficult for a VH tune but the keys may be a challenge . . . EVH RIP
Is this a joke because it sounds like one
This pedal is crazy! Blown my tiny mind a bit with all of the insane tones and sounds.
Also, box fresh Cons, Sam! Nice.

Did you ever release it? I love cheesy synth Christmas music

Thanks for the demo brother. The strings sound fab. 🎼🎸🎶👍🎵
I like the sounds coming out of this for bass compared to the other bass synth pedal demos i've seen.
by far the best review ever about this pedal!! good job
Sounds great! Using bridge or neck? Humbucker or single coil?

Really good detailed review and demo of this pedal.
I'm keen to add this to my SY300 setup! I see there is a general-ish sweet spot for those tone and depth knobs, which eases my concerns about too much tweaking between songs.
I would never use this in any practical situation but I want one so bad! Sounds pretty authentic... great video.

With a good spliff, this pedal should do the job ...🤩🤩🤩🤩

Dadgum it that’s a great place to start. Thanks for your insight! :)

Can’t wait!!! I hope they ship early as expected.
Surprised no one plays Turbo Lover in the reviews 😁
Chris Counts funny to think how many tens of thousands of dollars their synth guitar setups must have cost in ‘86 versus this pedal at $200
Excellent demo! Definitely gonna get one!
About 80% of the sounds I would never use so would I buy it for the other 20%? Yes I probably would!
I think in guitar magazines they call that a guilty pleasure :)
Excellent Video!
Great Video. Where on my pedalboard should this go? I'm using a BOSS ME-80, so would it go before or after? Thanks!
Before
it was a really good video, you had really nice riffs, that's a cool pedal :)
Best review! 1 question: Does Tone knob acts like a Filter cutoff, and can it be controllable via Ctrl pedal jack?
if you had to choose between this one, and the Meris Enzo?
Gorgeous guitar. Incredible sounds.
Really awesome demo!
Love the lead sound in first example
cool to hear the sounds, would've been better to get to see the pedal settings in the frame tho
PMTVUK Very useful demo. Much appreciated. Was this all played through a clean amp or overdriven with the more aggressive tones ??? All the best & stay well !!!
i like that Jamiroquai synth sound at 9:10
4:09 I need one of these with an expression pedal!
thats what i am intrested in sweeping the cutoff filter with the rez cranked up
Is this SY-1 true bypass?
This pedal is really cool for the price point
Que pedal fantástico. Queria vê-lo combinado com Bass9 da EHX. Thank you !!
Could you get a Whitesnake 'Here I Go Again' intro keyboard/synth on this pedal?
Great product, but personally I would like to see it more adaptive form, where you can download favourite sounds and use them in a live gig scenario.
That sounds like an interesting idea. That sounds like a JamOrigin - MidiGuitar but in pedal format. I've never seen that done in pedal form but it would be a cool alternative to carrying a laptop.
Some sound great
Some sound like if a guitar and a pig had a baby.
Cool, now I can get my Gary Neuman on :D

THANKS AND REGARDS.😊
I had to wait for 3 months, but it's worth every penny
Does anyone know where the melody from 15:05 is from?! I swear I know it but can't quite recall where from...
PS great demo!
Grandaddy - A.M. 180
@@u4ik1productions MVP!
Holy CRAP I never realized it had a switch for Bass/Guitar 🥴
The pedal for cybergrinders everywhere
11:49 is that Welcome to the Black Parade?
great... great.. great!!!
Can you do a bass demo
Where in the signal chain should this pedal go?
That intro song tho very very nice
What’s the song at 15:06?
So is a symph the same as a synth?
Will this work with a 12 string
This makes me want one so bad but ifk if I should spend all my money on one
Think Boss will sell all they make of these.... Only available to order I see.
I always see people trying to hate on it in the comments probably old guitar heads but just about everywhere I look it's on backorder or already sold out
I can play stranger things theme now!

Cool pedal. Too bad you can’t save presets.
Desi and Cody at least you don’t have to switch 1/4” cables from a panel of like 100 inputs to change the synth sounds 😆
Jamiroquai at 8:56
Polyphonic?
Maria Rosso yes
Bye bye to my ehx synth9
I had Synth 9 and liked the sounds but for starters the patch cable kept making it's way out... so frustrating then to top it off it had issues powering up with my Strymon Zuma... Bye bye EHX hello Boss SY-1 as of yesterday.
Cheers :-)
wich exp pedal u're using in this video:?
Nine Inch Nails: The pedal
I have never seen anyone play using the finger pads.
Omg!!!!
👍🇺🇸❤
Some sound great
Some sound like if a guitar and a pig had a baby.
Ok I need this pedal. Someone Venmo me 200 bucks.
Yay
Hi
Just buy a keyboard
Stupid comment
@@chrisbanuelos8777 that guitar midi device is not as good as a midi keyboard in my opinion. Get a life, stop being negative
But I like to play guitar?
@@h0zzle327 that's fair enough. I respect that decision. I was being a dick to the other commenter bc he was a dick.
