After every tiny mission in mass effect I would talk to all my companions in the hope of getting new dialogue lines. And it’s cool how they respond differently depending which decisions you make on missions and stuff

great vid! I do like how p5 rewards you for leveling up your confidants and forming deeper relationships- some of their mini arcs were just disappointing though (cough makoto). but that’s a writing complaint and not a structure complaint
tbh nothing motivates me more than the DA/ME/BG3 style games and thinking about the next cutscene i’ll get back at camp with my companions. romance is such a big thing in those games and even though I know they’re ultimately inconsequential to the plot, I love how it makes me feel more invested in the characters
also, I saw that ffxii footage 👀 would LOVE if you did a video on xii/final fantasy in general

I have to play through all of them at some point, I really haven’t played that many Zelda games!
For me, I think optional romances in video games are like poor stand ins for romance in a visual novel. They can never go that deep or be super essential to the story because the game isn't built around that. With a visual novel however, you can really see through the storytelling potential because romance is so essential to most visual novels. The truly great ones can completely alter the story your playing and your entire perception of events.

@@EditedbySilvers Gamers in general aren't sexually attracted to the stereotypical female NPC / companion. And they're not waiting for their turn after seeing all the male 80's movie leads get laid. That's the straight male gamers, dude. And maybe some bi / pan / lesbian people if we're lucky.
Like, don't get me wrong; the occasional comment here and there is fine. You're a guy who likes what he likes and that's cool. But the more I hear it in a single video, the more I feel like you don't see people like me as part of gamers in general. And that sucks for people like me who get pushback from other gamers on the reg.
I don't want to dictate how your should run things. This is like an fyi if you ever notice your audience leans strongly to a certain side.
