People who are emotionally connected to great Mukesh ji, will invariably speak that Udit ji can't be compared which I completely agree !! No two humans can be compared. After all it's a re-sung tribute song so it can't be compared to original version by the great Mukesh ji. However, what I liked in this version that Udit ji gave "his touch" which was refreshing. Mukesh ji was an original singer (didn't copy anyone and had his distinct voice) and Udit ji belongs to same race of original singers who has his distinct voice. So his "touch" in this tribute was a novel factor. For that Udit ji gets a big thumbs up from my side !!

Mukhesh ji's singing was full of emotions and feelings but Uditji has sung it in his own effort less way, his voice texture is so sweet and pleasant that he doesn't require to try harder while singing. He is a very rare natural singer in Bollywood.
He makes this song his own and Launch a Happy version of KABHI KABHI.
Sad version belongs to Mukesh ji.
Today's singer needs too much of music or computer programming to sing one perfect song and to make it a hit song and still it only last for few weeks or months in memory. Whereas all previous singers before this rapping and all came had tremendous voice and singing ability. Just look at the ease with Udit Narayan can sing the voice quality is so clean and soothing. Honestly I do believe these singers be it Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam and so on needs more songs than what they are getting now. I know new comers also needs to earn money and get the opportunity too but there must be at least 5 songs each previous singers can get in whole year which could give all audiences equal opportunity to listen to their favourite singers old and new both
