    Howdy from "Southeast Figs" in North Central Alabama. Teramo, if it's the same as Brown Sugar Crunch unknown, and it looks like it is, it is my earliest of all figs, and handles rain very well once established. Very sweet Brown Sugar Caramel like flavor with big crispy seeds. My favorite sugar fig, the only sugar fig I kept . I culled the LSU and Celeste types.

    Figs are extremely addictive lol. I started with one verity, and now I'm up to 24 different verities, lol. I live very close to you. I'm in Allentown. I love your videos. They definitely help me. Along with all my figs, i have numerous citrus trees. I have apples, peaches, and nectarines. Don't forget the blueberry and goji berry bushes, lol. Along with other gems, lol. I absolutely have an urban forest. Which I love. One day, I will have a property like yours. Keep the vids coming. 😊

      @UncleClaysOrchard I'm close to Cedar Beach on Hamilton Street. If you know where that is. Or about 1 1/ 2 miles from Dorney Park.

      I would have a ton if I didn't live in Massachusetts. Up here we have to bring them inside for winter. But I have 4 so far.

    I consider Ross as one of the top Fig Experts . A world of knowledge ! I love figs but have limited space . So far I have a CH and RDB in ground ( 7a ) and 2 unknowns in pots from our local Master Gardeners who run a Fig trial for our UA . My TX Everbearing has to go this year because ...well.. it doesn't "bear" diddly lol . I probably look into the Green Michurinska for our humid area. Thanks !

    Loved that video. Get ready to load up that property with figs. Bye bye space
    Funny: I bought #1 and 3 from Ross last year. Either of which I can pronounce or write without looking. He had the tree available for the GM, so it’s pretty huge now, and I started the N from a cutting, and it has about 50 figs this year. Mini but real tasty
    Thanks again

      very cool, i’m looking forward to buying some more from Ross. Are all yours in full sun?

    • @edslim718

      @@UncleClaysOrchard not even one of them is in full sun. I look at this stage of my like, here in dallas, as me prepping for retirement. I was to establish some nice strong trees (just over 50 in various pot sizes now - not adding more), and then put them in ground once we move (and probably retire). Living in such a constrained environment is giving me ample opportunity to run several cool experiments. One of them is where you just mentioned: most trees get less than 4 hours and are in pots. I want to see how they do. They’re mostly first year trees from cuttings or air layers, so I won’t be too harsh a critic their first year. But I’ll tell ya what, they are doing very well so far. They’re all huge; people don’t believe they’re first year trees. But I spoil the crap out of them ($$$) with the soil I put them in and then the liquid fertilizer I use. It’s not normal. But 90% have figs, and what I have tasted so far has been very good. Would they taste better in ground and in full sun, yeah I bet probably. But geez man even with this quality, I’d consider it worth growing them if these are your only options. I just purchased a good quality brix meter. So I’ll be able to quantifiably compare the amount of sugar in my figs vs what people in full sun get. I’m under the impression the lack of sun will result in less carbs and therefore less sugars. So let’s see by how much. Experiment on.
      In case that message wasn’t long enough, bonus material: my favorite experiment is the indoor vs outdoor angelito tree I have. The indoor tree had 97 figs on it the other day. I’m sure it’s over a 100 now. And they have tasted wonderful. The outdoor one is doing the best out of all my trees (I think). I’ve had to top it twice. It moved fast. It now has four huge scaffolding coming off to the 4’ main branch to the sides and I left one in the middle. Every single node has a fig. The thing is a beast. I think all angeliots are beasts based on what I’m seeing on TH-cam. And they taste so good. So far, the best angelito fig I’ve had (mind you both first year trees so I’m not over analyzing it yet), out of 9 from the inside tree and 5 from the outside tree, was the third one from the outside tree. While they all tasted good (except the first one from each tree), the third one from outside was insane. I never had a fig like that. I don’t know what was happening in my mouth. I’m hoping it was giving me a glimpse into the future, but the next two didn’t taste like that. Again, they all taste exceptionally well, but now I have a target goal in mind.

      very cool i love experimenting , so your getting good production with only 4 hours of sunlight?

    • @edslim718
      @edslim718 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UncleClaysOrchard it’s hard for me to say good production because they’re only first year trees. And they’re in pots. But my outdoor angelito has over 50 figs. And a dozen of them have 20-30 figs. Then the rest have less than 20. Only 2 or 3 have no figs. But I think that’s common for first year. So production wise, seems I’m fine. I’ll know better next year. But I keep hearing the quality will also suffer from not having sun. Again, they’re all first year so I’m keeping that in mind. But seriously the figs we’ve had have tasted very good. Good enough to make it worth it for folks who don’t have space like me. I’m going to start measuring brix levels so I can speak with numbers vs my limited opinion. But I have a lot more experimenting to do before I can share thoughts I feel strongly about. Then I’d like to try the same figs from people that have them in full sun. I’m probably 1-2 years away from a solid option.
