It easily could have been misconstrued - & we don’t have any context at all. Chris had homes lined up for almost all of those snakes, a lot of them didn’t have any cost attached, he just wanted to know they’d be safe. Some of the snakes were very valuable, and people really wanted them for breeding purposes, so they were willing to pay for them. FWC seized the snakes & took ownership of them, but then just left them w/him for 14 months. He wasn’t allowed to re-home them during that time, or he’d be arrested. He paid to feed them, for medical expenses, to house them, & he did all the maintenance work. He tried during that time to save them. Imagine if after all of that time, stress, effort…the uncertainty, the sadness, rage, fear…imagine someone said to him “these snakes are worth $850,000….you’d think that they’d rather sell them out of state, or to people who have specialized permits, and put the money back into the FWC’s pockets, rather than killing them.” NOW, these are *HIS* snakes…he created them, raised them, cared for them, and loved them. I can see myself in that situation saying “I’d rather they come here & euthanize every last one of them in front of me, than for them to profit off of what they’re doing.” That being the case, I wouldn’t be saying “if I’m not the one profiting off of them, then I want them dead.” Instead, I’d be saying “NO! After everything they’ve done to me, everything they’ve put me through…all of the threats & intimidation tactics, after refusing to allow me to just give them to the people I’ve already lined up to keep them, who *WANTED* them…no way do they get to take my snakes & profit off of them, so that they can keep doing this to other people just like me, using that money. Nope. I’d rather they kill them, than make even $1 off of this whole mess.” Honestly, I wouldn’t blame him for feeling that way. I live in Fort Lauderdale about ten miles from where this happened. As a fellow Floridian and reptile keeper I am appalled by FWC's actions. I hope FWC is disbarred and reorganized.

A few other reptile channels have voiced that they weren't sure if they should make a video on this topic because every other reptile channel seems to be talking about it, and I want to stress that YES, you should make a video about it if you're concerned about what happened at the Holy Thursday massacre. The more people talking about it and raising awareness, the better. It's not just an echo chamber, it's not simply repetitive. You don't have to worry about saying the same things everyone else has said─ that is literally the point. We need to get that information as far and wide as we can, and make it clear that we are not okay with what happened.
Exactly! It keeps it on the forefront. It shows that it's not a niche worry for a few reptile enthusiasts, that this PISSES US ALL OFF. This was cruel, this situation was a black comedy of errors, miscommunication, labyrinthine rules that no one seemed to know & couldn't (or wouldn't) tell Coffee, they threatened him with jail, they drained his bank account with the court case--money they should pay back, & murdered his ANIMALS ANYWAYS.The whole situation was cruel in the extreme to both animals & humans.
I agree. Pet channels specifically should be talking about the incident as well. The snakes were all beloved pets, so other pet owners need to be aware about this.

Sounds like Bill's got a very good case for a serious lawsuit. He put his heart and soul into caring for these animals...they were not only his means of earning a living, but cherished pets who have gradually learned to put their trust in him. They were murdered in cold blood by public servants who lacked not only the most basic knowledge of animal identification, but also the tiniest bit of compassion for the animals or their keeper.
I think so too. I study body language a lot. I saw the original video the guy secretly recorded, and I'm pretty sure about this - that "officer" KNEW he was directing the others to kill the Boa. He had been told where it was several times. He looked at the label several times. His reaction to the "mistake" was fake. Obviously fake from a body language point of view, he was just putting on a show for the other 3 guys. I believe he did this out of malice. Yeah my thoughts on this won't help anybody, but if Bill can prove that he showed them the tank and label several times, it holds water. I think that's what on the bodycam footage they are currently "reviewing".
I am so thankful to hear Bill speak so movingly about his snakes, and that so many of them have names and he knows their personalities so well. It speaks to these snakes are pets, living, loved, cherished animals and not just “objects” to the people who care for and own them. My heart goes out to both Bill and Chris, and all the other reptile keepers in Florida who are living with the real threat of this happening to them.

I wish we could have seen her sister, but I'm glad we got to see Big Shirl's daughter. Both of them will carry on Big Shirl's legacy. Sometimes that brings me comfort in really tragic situations such as this. I'm so sorry for Bill's loss, and I can't begin to imagine what Chris must be going through right now. I hope they know that the day their snakes died, they were all *our* snakes. They became *our* babies. And we'll fight alongside you guys to make sure justice is served, as anyone would for their babies.
I've not seen anyone else interview Bill, this was great. Not the best circumstances, but very very important. This whole thing is sickening and should not go away. And honestly, as you said, this is all educational- you could legitimately say that all of this is educational for the public and esp kids. They did this in Denver years ago...went to peoples homes who had pitbulls and illegally took the dogs and immediately euthanized them all. This govt is disgusting and criminal. Free country my ass.
I don't think this was a mistake!! That dude in the blue shirt KNEW FULL WELL!!!! He looked at that cage, looked at the ticket that was hanging on that cage!!! More than once!!! He KNEW 🤬 let alone that said cage was the only one within camera view that had a ticket on it!!!! THIS WAS NOT A MISTAKE.....IMO
Bill really is a very competent keeper, his facility is so clean and well organised! It's absolutely awful what he and Chris had to endure at the hands of FWC, hoping he gets some justice even though it'll never repair the damage.

FWS last meeting on the new white list for fish made it very clear that FWS is no longer interested in evidence based solutions and is not planning on even following the federal Fish and Wildlife guidelines. Sad state of affairs....
I live in Washington State and I am completely outraged at the actions that have taken place. I can think of at least 5 ways this could be avoided. I heart is with ya Bill and the other gentlemen. I own no snakes yet but I intend to in a few years. I love all you guys and I see the love and care u put into your babies. I was never a snake person till I started watching several snake guys. Yall have made me really see the aminals I grew up hating in a different light. When I heard what happened I bawled. It breaks my heart to see animals treated this way. I hope FWC is held accountable for what they have done. I am so sorry for your loss. I believe the world is screaming for change. Hopefully FWC hears us and changes how they handle things. It's clear these animals were loved and cared for!
The loss he suffered was just inhumane. I really hope that they have a positive outcome in the end. It just becomes more and more enraging the more details emerge. 14 god damn months they could have been regimes as an extension of the 3 months originally given; would have made absolutely no difference to the FWC and they would have made sure the new homes would have been out of state

Great video! It’s infuriating what Bill endured and Chris, obviously. This boas are incredible. I always wanted a boa and ended up diving off the retic and morelia cliff, but some of Bill’s boas rekindled my desire to get one. That IMG stuff is killer.

What FWC did was so unethical and disgusting, that whole debacle could and should have been avoided!! In the last month I’ve gotten into big constrictors quite a bit, and I’ve been looking into getting one. This situation kind of just fell on my feed one day and to say it’s sickening it is an understatement. Retics are such a favorite animal of mine…majestic and beautiful giants…I cried. I really did. I can’t imagine how you feel about your gravid boa. I have no words. I could go on and on about how wrong and horrific it is, but I’m sure everyone already agrees with me. I’m really happy the owner is getting counsel and is going to be pursuing this legally… That’s really what I’ve been hoping would happen. You deserve legal action and to exercise all your rights as not only a responsible keeper but an American. Keep in mind you’re allowed to litigate the officers personally, not just fish and wildlife. You’re entitled to compensation for your emotional pain. Get a therapist and make sure they know you’re in a legal battle. It will help your case. All the love to your snakes and you, best of luck friend. We’re all with you.

Can't even begin to imagine how Bill was feeling over this, he was absolutely shattered and heartbroken when he learned of the mistake! It was already bad enough that they were killing 30+ of his snakes in the first place over the bullshit laws, and after refusing to give the owner a few more days to save the snakes and move them out of Florida, but the boa death took is to such a higher level that I am literally lost for words. Whats even worse is that he didn't get any of those snakes from a 3rd party, he literally raised them all himself, and absolutely loved them. I was inconsolable over a week after I was forced to put my hamster down after it developed a tumor when she was only a year old. This guy has been raising them almost longer then I've been alive. Can't imagine the heartbreak he must have experienced...

I agree with your learning bit,I do birdwatching as a kid which later got me into Horticulture ,because i wanted to know the Tree /bush they were in ,what berries they were eating,nature is a constant learning curve,NOBODY KNOWS IT ALL

Beautiful facility and unbelievable pets Bill! I know you've heard this a hundred times, but this is absolutely absurd how FWC handled this situation! You are a good man and apparently doing things exactly the way you are supposed to. They should have supported you and encouraged you to keep up the good work and fight the good fight for the animals. I have just recently decided to get into breeding some of my babies and I thurst for someone with your talent and knowledge to show me the ropes. I crave the knowledge you have, but I feel like a baby in comparison and I've been keeping reptiles for 35 years. Along with my decision to start breeding my babies, I've also spoke with my wife about moving out of Florida, just because of how toxic FWC is to the animal community. Bill, and Chris, I hope you get the justice you deserve, understandable nothing in this world could ever fill the void of losing your babies the way you did, but I hope you receive justice to help ease your pain and force FWC to take a different course of action in this ridiculous battle they've engaged in.
They should of been required to have an independent Herpetologist present. To properly ID the animals, but to also make sure the animals are being handled with care and dignity. Not being thrown on the ground and then tossed in trash bags. Fucking disgusting what they did.

I’m so sorry Bill. This entire situation is just gut wrenching and I cannot understand how this isn’t bigger news! For 14 months honestly, isn’t that a refusal to accept surrender after a year? If they didn’t reimburse you for the care of said animals and housing, then they made no attempt to legally accept said surrender of pets. There has to be a law or something that protects this and if not that has to change. This has to be held up in court. All of this, they backed you into a corner with no options. They have feelings and personalities and lives! Seeing those babies on the necropsy was heartbreaking
I found this video after seeing the horrific mistake those cops made of taking that beautiful snake and all her babies life. That was just so sad. I have a new found respect for snakes from watching this! My condolences to Bill and Chris. I pray justice is served!

Holy Heaven! I dont think I have ever said the word Wow so many times as I did watching this video. Thoose boas are so beautiful! I have only seen albinos and wild coloured boas before. The black male was my favorite.
I was born in Florida my father was a charter boat captain. Ive been dealing with the FWC since I was a small child. To say their an incompetent borderline corrupt agency is a understatement. To be honest their incompetence goes every which way. I know multiple groups of people over multiple decades that have got citations for broken wildlife laws that where never prosecuted for the simple reason they lose/ never turn in paperwork on their end. They enforce laws that dont exist, try to enforce laws that do not pertain to wildlife and then dont prosecute actual poachers.
Poor Bill and Chris 😔 love their hearts. It’s an older video, but I really hope anyone who might be new can learn the need we have as responsible keepers to get involved with USARK and help out our fellow responsible keepers and their ability to protect their animals from these BS laws. Please look this organization up and do what you can to support the cause. What Florida has done (as a native Floridian) to Bill, Chris, and many others is inexcusable and morally repugnant. A few other reptile channels have voiced that they weren't sure if they should make a video on this topic because every other reptile channel seems to be talking about it, and I want to stress that YES, you should make a video about it if you're concerned about what happened at the Holy Thursday massacre. The more people talking about it and raising awareness, the better. It's not just an echo chamber, it's not simply repetitive. You don't have to worry about saying the same things everyone else has said─ that is literally the point. We need to get that information as far and wide as we can, and make it clear that we are not okay with what happened.
Exactly! It keeps it on the forefront. It shows that it's not a niche worry for a few reptile enthusiasts, that this PISSES US ALL OFF. This was cruel, this situation was a black comedy of errors, miscommunication, labyrinthine rules that no one seemed to know & couldn't (or wouldn't) tell Coffee, they threatened him with jail, they drained his bank account with the court case--money they should pay back, & murdered his ANIMALS ANYWAYS.The whole situation was cruel in the extreme to both animals & humans.
I agree. Pet channels specifically should be talking about the incident as well. The snakes were all beloved pets, so other pet owners need to be aware about this.

I agree, I own a red tail and there are major differences. Like Kyrab7914 said: fucking look it up if you need to. Measure twice, cut once should have some kind of equivalent to policing measures rather than kill, then ask questions later. As an owner of multiple snakes myself and just simply a pet lover, I'm outraged, to say the least. I'd have each one involved served with a fat law suite.
Sounds like Bill's got a very good case for a serious lawsuit. He put his heart and soul into caring for these animals...they were not only his means of earning a living, but cherished pets who have gradually learned to put their trust in him. They were murdered in cold blood by public servants who lacked not only the most basic knowledge of animal identification, but also the tiniest bit of compassion for the animals or their keeper.
I think so too. I study body language a lot. I saw the original video the guy secretly recorded, and I'm pretty sure about this - that "officer" KNEW he was directing the others to kill the Boa. He had been told where it was several times. He looked at the label several times. His reaction to the "mistake" was fake. Obviously fake from a body language point of view, he was just putting on a show for the other 3 guys. I believe he did this out of malice. Yeah my thoughts on this won't help anybody, but if Bill can prove that he showed them the tank and label several times, it holds water. I think that's what on the bodycam footage they are currently "reviewing".
What's crazy is that they were Fish and Wildlife Conservation officers.
I am so thankful to hear Bill speak so movingly about his snakes, and that so many of them have names and he knows their personalities so well. It speaks to these snakes are pets, living, loved, cherished animals and not just “objects” to the people who care for and own them. My heart goes out to both Bill and Chris, and all the other reptile keepers in Florida who are living with the real threat of this happening to them.

Sometimes that brings me comfort in really tragic situations such as this. I'm so sorry for Bill's loss, and I can't begin to imagine what Chris must be going through right now. I hope they know that the day their snakes died, they were all *our* snakes. They became *our* babies. And we'll fight alongside you guys to make sure justice is served, as anyone would for their babies.

They did this in Denver years ago...went to peoples homes who had pitbulls and illegally took the dogs and immediately euthanized them all. This govt is disgusting and criminal. Free country my ass.

He KNEW 🤬 let alone that said cage was the only one within camera view that had a ticket on it!!!! THIS WAS NOT A MISTAKE.....IMO
Bill really is a very competent keeper, his facility is so clean and well organised! It's absolutely awful what he and Chris had to endure at the hands of FWC, hoping he gets some justice even though it'll never repair the damage.

@@KampKenan thank you for this follow up, it's much needed salve to see Bill's snakes. FWS last meeting on the new white list for fish made it very clear that FWS is no longer interested in evidence based solutions and is not planning on even following the federal Fish and Wildlife guidelines.

I was never a snake person till I started watching several snake guys. Yall have made me really see the aminals I grew up hating in a different light. When I heard what happened I bawled. It breaks my heart to see animals treated this way. I hope FWC is held accountable for what they have done. I am so sorry for your loss. I believe the world is screaming for change. Hopefully FWC hears us and changes how they handle things. It's clear these animals were loved and cared for!

What FWC did was so unethical and disgusting, that whole debacle could and should have been avoided!! Bills faculty is immaculate and what he’s doing for the snake education and breeding community is beyond your average snake keeper . They should of been allowed the time to regime those snakes to homes outside the state !! I’m so sorry Bill and Chris this happened. In the last month I’ve gotten into big constrictors quite a bit, and I’ve been looking into getting one. This situation kind of just fell on my feed one day and to say it’s sickening it is an understatement. Retics are such a favorite animal of mine…majestic and beautiful giants…I cried. I really did. I can’t imagine how you feel about your gravid boa. I have no words. I could go on and on about how wrong and horrific it is, but I’m sure everyone already agrees with me. I’m really happy the owner is getting counsel and is going to be pursuing this legally… That’s really what I’ve been hoping would happen. You deserve legal action and to exercise all your rights as not only a responsible keeper but an American. Keep in mind you’re allowed to litigate the officers personally, not just fish and wildlife. You’re entitled to compensation for your emotional pain. Get a therapist and make sure they know you’re in a legal battle. It will help your case. All the love to your snakes and you, best of luck friend. We’re all with you.

It wasn’t a mistake ! There are red tags showing they were Boa ! I feel so bad for this gentleman!
Can't even begin to imagine how Bill was feeling over this, he was absolutely shattered and heartbroken when he learned of the mistake! It was already bad enough that they were killing 30+ of his snakes in the first place over the bullshit laws, and after refusing to give the owner a few more days to save the snakes and move them out of Florida, but the boa death took is to such a higher level that I am literally lost for words. Whats even worse is that he didn't get any of those snakes from a 3rd party, he literally raised them all himself, and absolutely loved them. I was inconsolable over a week after I was forced to put my hamster down after it developed a tumor when she was only a year old. This guy has been raising them almost longer then I've been alive. Can't imagine the heartbreak he must have experienced...

Beautiful facility and unbelievable pets Bill! I know you've heard this a hundred times, but this is absolutely absurd how FWC handled this situation! You are a good man and apparently doing things exactly the way you are supposed to. They should have supported you and encouraged you to keep up the good work and fight the good fight for the animals. I have just recently decided to get into breeding some of my babies and I thurst for someone with your talent and knowledge to show me the ropes. I crave the knowledge you have, but I feel like a baby in comparison and I've been keeping reptiles for 35 years. Along with my decision to start breeding my babies, I've also spoke with my wife about moving out of Florida, just because of how toxic FWC is to the animal community.
Bill, and Chris, I hope you get the justice you deserve, understandable nothing in this world could ever fill the void of losing your babies the way you did, but I hope you receive justice to help ease your pain and force FWC to take a different course of action in this ridiculous battle they've engaged in.
They should of been required to have an independent Herpetologist present. To properly ID the animals, but to also make sure the animals are being handled with care and dignity. Not being thrown on the ground and then tossed in trash bags. Fucking disgusting what they did.

I’m so sorry Bill. This entire situation is just gut wrenching and I cannot understand how this isn’t bigger news! For 14 months honestly, isn’t that a refusal to accept surrender after a year? If they didn’t reimburse you for the care of said animals and housing, then they made no attempt to legally accept said surrender of pets. There has to be a law or something that protects this and if not that has to change. This has to be held up in court. All of this, they backed you into a corner with no options. They have feelings and personalities and lives! Seeing those babies on the necropsy was heartbreaking

I was born in Florida my father was a charter boat captain. Ive been dealing with the FWC since I was a small child. To say their an incompetent borderline corrupt agency is a understatement. To be honest their incompetence goes every which way. I know multiple groups of people over multiple decades that have got citations for broken wildlife laws that where never prosecuted for the simple reason they lose/ never turn in paperwork on their end. They enforce laws that dont exist, try to enforce laws that do not pertain to wildlife and then dont prosecute actual poachers.
