Driving in Solan - Himachal Pradesh, India

Solan is the headquarters of Solan district in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The largest Municipal Council of Himachal Pradesh, it is located 46 km (29 mi) south of Shimla. At an average elevation of 1,600 metres (5,200 ft).
It is situated between Chandigarh (joint capital of Punjab and Harayana) and Shimla (state capital), and also on the Kalka-Shimla National Highway 5.
The Kalka-Shimla narrow gauge heritage railway line (also known as Toy Train), built by the British passes through Solan and is a recognised World Heritage site.

This is not the Solan I remember in 1950!!! It was small, hardly any traffic. I have some of the happiest memories of childhood there, roaming all over the place, up hill and down. The villagers were wonderful people, kind and hospitable. I wonder if Badrukhan House still exists? My aunt and grandfather used to live in the apartments below that, they rented them from the owners of Badrukhan House. That name used to be painted on the wall facing the road to Simla. How times change all things.

Road connectivity &infra. बेहतर हो,roadsides पर railings लगे जो खाई मे गाड़ी गिरने से बचाये।&इन सब के लिये सभी पूरा tax दे,तभी तो पैसे आयेगे और काम होगा।बिना पैसो के कुछ नही होगा।
