There's a lot of resemblance between the ost of those two shows, but 00 is like a step up to Nexus ost (more empowered, more mysterious, and more compelling in conveying the theme of the story).

Their assimilation, while you might see it as hostile, it was their only way of comprehending and understanding others, by taking it into themselves, they become one with it. It was only until Setsuna successfully made a dialogue with them that they finally understood and communicated.
I'm reasonably certain that parts of the track "Lighthouse" from AC7 was sampled from a track from 00. I just can't remember which 00 track it was sampled from.
