Some really big discounts here, what would really help though would be having the RRP’s reduced to dodge that ridiculous luxury car tax. Seems like some of the prices are returning to more sensible levels finally.
Yes!
Spot on
The problem with these sky high ”RRP”s heavily discounted is road fund licence, and in particular the additional payment for the first 5 years. By having a retail price of over 40 grand the road tax is £600 a year…! If they priced the cars realistically to sell in the first place the additional tax would be avoided…
Weirdly it's years 2-6 rather than 1-5 - agreed, why manufacturers still put an RRP on a car of £41k baffles me.
And all those cars will still make a profit at the reduced price. It shows how much car manufacturers are ripping customers off.
👍👍👍
The MG5 and ZS EV are end of line, MG is clearing stock to lauch the ES5 (the catch all replacement for both models) in April. The MG5's are pretty much sold out (I ordered one of the last a few days ago, the system was saying they were down to 10 in stock nationally), still some ZS EV's in stock as the deals on those haven't been as good yet (only on the base version), but I did get offered a Trophy long range ZS EV for £28k.
Also found many dealers are advertising ghost MG5's. My local dealer could only offer me a white one, so I started chasing up other dealers in the hope to get a different colour, but pretty much every dealer I contacted about different colours they had listed on autotrader and carwow told me they didn't actually have the listed car, but could still offer me a white one, so ended up back at my local dealership... I even had 2 dealerships trying to sell me 72 reg ex showroom MG5's as new for the discounted list price... I'd hardly call cars that have been sitting around for 2 years and possibly used for test drives 'new'.
Crafty!
MG5 and ZS production has stopped, so gone is gone. No more MG estate, they said SUV's cover a much larger market share, so they're doing what Dacia did with the Logan/Duster, make an SUV with estate dimension internals...
Some relatives bought a new Golf 1.4 Match in 2016. The list was something like £23k and discounted they paid a tad over £20K. £23K for a new one now seems pretty good (especially with all the extra safety kit etc that cars have now).
Yes, it does seem good
Great bit of new car info !! Have a great crimbo Jimbo !!
Thanks, you too!
So I got a cracking deal on an ID3 Match with my A4 Avant 2020 as the deposit for delivery before the end of November with £10k cash back and £149 per month. Great deal. Only problem, they don't have an actual car to deliver. Still waiting.
Well that is a problem eh!
Nice video! Seems BMW makes ugliest looking cars these days!
I think there are some hits and misses for sure. The Next Gen stuff that’s coming promises to be a lot sexier.
Cheers Jim more crazy deals but I still believe a lease will still make more sense financially the more they discount the new the higher deprecation of the second hand 👍
Me too to be fair but always worth doing the sums
December is the last chance for manufacturers to reach that EV percentage target before they get fined £ lots per car. I recall big discounts from VW last year.
Yes, have you seen my latest lease deal videos? 👀
Going to be even better deals in Jan I feel.
Everything a year ilder and mire supply still hitting the market.
These prices more sensible finally.
👍👍👍
At last some good reductions on cars let’s hope this continues on all cars they are still way to much new greed!
👍👍
The over £40k luxury car tax only applies to EV’s in April 2025. The are exempt right now (Dec 2024)
Correct
Great variety of offers. Thanks Jim 👍
Thanks 👍
Hi Jim , I think I’d lease at the moment , prices seem to be continually falling. 👍👍👍👍
Yes! 👍
I saw brand new Volvo xc90 for 55k with company dealership. That is insane.
👍
Old adage that it's only worth what customers are prepared to pay . Ask the ex Stellantis CEO
👌
Thanks Jim , interesting times
They are indeed 👍
Some amazing deals in there jim
👍👍👍
Some great deals there
👍👍👍
Do you think cars like the Ev3 and Elroq will get significant reductions in a year or so?
No idea; much will depend on market conditions and competition at the time.
I think Stellantis have a lot of cars with the old 50kWh batteries sitting around that they’re trying to shift
I'm sure
I asked for this video, thanks for making it
Hope you enjoyed it!
Some good offers about, but its only a sale if you were going to buy it anyway!
Yes
Hi Jim, you mentioned the 40 grand luxury car tax, does it include older electric vehicles registered before April 2025.
No
Standard rate road tax of £190 a year will have to be paid on all EVs registered after April 2017. The VED changes (so also the luxury car tax) take effect on vehicles registered from April 2025 onward.
All a bit confusing, really, as previously registered low emission petrol cars (read mostly hybrids) still will seemingly get discounted rates (£35 a year, I believe).
It's farcical really.
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru I have to correct myself (well, rather, the wording has been updated on the government website). Hybrid cars registered after 2017 will now also fall under the base tariff, which now seemingly has been upped to £195 a year. The lower rate tariffs have been completely removed for all vehicles registered after April 2017... Low emmission petrol cars registered before April 2017 will be paying £35 a year, instead of the £20 a year they pay now.
I love these discount vids. How do you find the best deals on autotrader? Is there a way to filter the biggest discounts by overall amount or percentage? 👍
Not that I know of; I spend about 4 hours researching these and that’s we me having half an idea of what might be discounted 🥲😁
Bloody hell. Thanks for all your efforts.
@@anthonyn3774 not all heroes wear capes 😂
There are a lot of the middle range cars that of of very similar performance which really means manufactures are dictating what w drive most of the SUV are the same except the badge little individuality left try not to be pushed into accepting a banal car just because it’s cheaper.
Yep
If your in the market there are some deals to be done. However, to get a deal on a car of choice with specific options it still requires some negotiation.
A lot of car price discounts at the lower end of the market are easily achievable as these are the ‘bread and butter’ sales and those at the top are either older stock, undesirable specification (Porsche) or have poor customer reviews.
Unfortunately, the new car market is slowing dramatically due to many variables, however, as the owner of a 18 month old BMW car the recent valuation confirmed a loss of £27k and it is fully specced and only travelled 3,000 miles.
I will not be changing my car anytime soon and I don’t think I’m alone in making that decision!
Until the corporate ‘greed’ of dealers reverses I’m afraid new car sales will continue to decline!
Lease new, buy used
Jim,they will be giving some of these cars away soon with every box of Kellogs 😂😂🎉
I hope so, I love a corn flake 😁
@DefinitelyNotAGuru 😀👌
Its such a scam RRP of over 40k ! Especially now its affecting the EV's ! What is the actual incentive now to purchase a EV
👍
Reduced first year VED (or multi-year on cars over 40k). Our government seems to think that's incentive enough moving forward. Probably won't really notice it till EV prices come down to petrol car level accross the board, though.
That BMW grille hasn't grown on me
👌
31mpg on the Omoda! Jeez…
👍
👏
👍👍👍
✌❤👍
👍👍👍
Stunning how the rrp on the ICE Citroen is around £20,000 whilst the BEV has an rrp of £35,000.... No wonder Stellantis are not selling too many!
I think their change at the top was long overdue
4th
Just outside the medals
But who would buy a Skoda!?
Pretty much anyone not living in the 1980's
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru, fair enough. But you must admit they’re hideous!
I quite like a lot of the new Skodas to be honest mate. Last gen not so much.
Brand new 2025 BMW X4 just about to be released .
Never seen a new Porsche getting discounted .
Exciting times.
👍👍👍
Porsche offers discounts on Taycans. Any EV whether leasing or purchase is a poor choice in any circumstance for host of reasons. Don’t believe the government’s narrative.
