I got a Coleman 530 stove from an auction recently so I fire it up for the first time and make coffee on it. The date code on this stove is A 47 which means it was built in the first half of 1947.
My thumb rule for perking coffee out camping is soft perking for 10 minutes plus a minute for every thousand feet above sea level. This adjusts for the lower boiling temperature of water as you go up in elevation. I have used this many times from near sea level to 9000 feet, big and small pots.
To prevent the bottom of the stove to from being scalding hot make a little heat shield out of tinfoil. Doesn't have to be pretty just cut out a little circle the circumference of the stove and cut a slot and shoehorn it underneath the burner bell. Your fingers will thank you.
It actually came with a metal disc for this purpose but I did not use it in the video. Usually these are lost so I was happy to see that this one still had it.
Great video. You can speed up the process a little by boiling the water with the stove wide open before adding the coffee ☕️. Once it's up to temperature, reduce the heat and add the coffee. By the way. Really nice stove. Thanks for sharing, and God bless.

how do you adjust the flame? By closing down the tip cleaner a little to lower the flame so as not to boil over ?
That one is in fine condition.
