I just did my 2014 Countryman JCW following your path. I removed a few more things to avoid bending or breaking any part. Now my Mini is back to live. Thank you for your video. Saved me a lot of time and troubles.
Thanks, TMG Garage, for this detailed video! I was able to do my 2014 Countryman base (non Turbo) after watching this. Several details that may assist you: Careful with the Torx screws that hold the headlight. I spun 1 of mine in the plastic, & had to cut away a little to get it out. Use anti-seize when reinstalling. The 30mm tensioner release can be reached with a socket thru the headlight recess. And, when jacking up the engine, if you clear the top of the bolt on engine mount, the engine will shift backwards 1-2 inches & the alternator will lift straight up & install straight downward easily. It's a bit of struggle to realign the mount over the bolt to lower it, though. The 2 Haynes manuals that cover UK/European models only were of little help compared to the video, as the UK engines are different displacement and accessories/alternator/etc are in different locations.
I have been dreading this job for months. You video was so straightforward and everyone else's that I had reviewed were insane.
Best video of this process I've seen! Thanks! Gotta do this in a few days.
I follow your steps thanks for your help
Thank you again! I did this today and worked like a charm. Just bottom bolt needed to be "massaged". Oh, didn't do anything with the motor mount btw...just backed that bolt in the front. I do have experience in changing that oil filter adaptor housing for this model....so this alternator repair was easy peazy. Cheers!
Saved me tons of time! Thanks! You definitely have to finagle the bagel to get it out but it definitely works. Did this on a ‘15 countryman, no turbo.
This is the way to do it!!!! Wasn’t to bad at all. Your insane if you drain the ac an go through the bottom. Jack up the motor and it’s tight but got it out.
Great video!!!
For the folks in the future you can use a 30 mm long wrench for the belt tensioner works like a dream , everything elsr is spot on, you can suport the engine with a jack like he says and tilt the engine back after removing the top motor mount alternator fell out easy put the new one in and belt tensioner, bolt em down put your motor mount back on, SLOWLY!!let the javk down for the engine bolt it all up and belt bsck on tire etc and yiur good saved me thousands!!!
The best video I going to do tomorrow finger crossed 🤣🤣 thanks
Great video, thank you so much. You saved me so much money.
Glad I can pull it from the top instead of bottom with ac lines. Everything on the passanger side is new and i was preparing for valve stem when the altenator failed.
Excellent sir!
Thanks for posting this video and info, I used it as my blueprint to exchange my alternator. I wasn't successful in the end and would like to ask a few questions, if I may. I'm hoping to get back to it this week. I have a few pics as well to share. How can I reach you?
Thanks
