Given that you fly Sunwing most of the time, how are you able to keep your carryon under their 5kg/11lbs limit when a laptop weights at least 2lbs and a typical carryon weighs 6-7lbs on it's own? Went to Cayo Coco last November via Sunwing and found that we could put very little into the carryon before we hit that 5kg/11 lbs limit.

Hi Mike. Every time we travel, we always pack lots of extra’s for the Cuban people. Usually 20k of extra’s. But I’m having a problem convincing my wife to travel anywhere since we retired. I’m itching to go back to Cuba. We want to go see Manzanillo Cuba near Pico Turquino. The natural fresh water river from the Sierra Maestra mountain range is just amazing to swim in. It is so clear, you can see about 30 feet to the bottom. The local people and kids are just awesome. Pico Turquino is the highest mountain peak in Cuba. Now I just have to work on convincing my wife. It’s -27 here and that seems to be helping. Enjoy. Nazdravja!

I have been to Cuba many times and one suggestion from myself is that I ALWAYS pay for my baggage on the way to Cuba because while I was travelling with my friends numerous times and their luggage got lost for some days. No need to explain how you feel for the next few days without your belongings.

We always pack 50 lbs in our suitcase mostly to give away items such as medications, clothing, and I personally like bringing baseball equipment as I know baseball is such a huge Sport and hard for them to get items in Cuba. I pick up used baseball gloves at Value Village or Goodwill and also family and friends donate them to me. I also pick up some new baseballs from Canadian Tire or Sport Chek. Also I mean item is a reusable travel mug such as Yeti or Bubba thanks Mike for all your great content
I always bring a leatherman or victorinox multitool for those unexpected issues. For a luxury item, I like to bring astronomy binoculars to watch the boats out on the ocean.
Hey, beautiful kitchen, Mike! When I travel carry on, I transfer suntan lotion into a few squeezable 100ml bottles. Then I put all of my liquids in a 1L TSA approved clear bag. Makes it simple going through security, and sunscreen costs a fortune when you’re at destination.

You spoke in one of your videos on currency and exchange rates for USD and CAD to CUP… from your video it sounded like bringing USD and exchanging to peso to use for spending money was the way to go. My question is where did you exchange your USD to CUP? I know resorts will but not usually at the best rate, did you go to a bank ?
@ seen a lot online about how lots of people exchange their USD to peso. Based on the rates you mentioned I’m assuming that’s the way you did as well. Not sure who to trust but I guess I could politely ask some resort staff that I’m friendly with. Sounds like it’s pretty common that way…

I always take late flights, You can ask for a late check out from your room!!! Maybe pay extra but get the entire day on the beach All good later flights get back into Toronto late!!!

Thks for the reply! Oddly, my personal item has no weight restriction, as long as it fits under the seat. Brought a frozen beef roast last may, with ice packs, bout 20 lbs with cooler bag. No issue, cept cuban customs wanted to know where, and when the BBQ was. Cheers 🤠
Are you traveling with Sunwing? Because if so, it's now 30$ for a carry-on instead of 25$, plus it's always been 5kg max per carry-on, not 10 kg, which is ridiculous...
Make sure u take extra day to day meds just in case of delay ect. Regular meds ect heart meds ect may be difficult to get so take an extra week. Takes very little space.
A unmentioned tip. If you pack prescription drugs in your carry on it’s more than likely they will pull you aside to double check. No problem but it just takes a little longer when passing through customs.
