VIDEO NOTE: Kelly McCormick is not Ryan Goslings wife. I had an awkward line in this I'm now realizing which made it sound like that's what I was saying. The line was supposed to say, "his relationship with his wife **AND** producer Kelly McCormick" Because he was taking inferences from both personal and professional life for the role and relationship aspect of his character.
His wife had a name. Just saying. Thanks for your note.
It is weird that they don’t have their own Oscar category. On the other hand, if they did, about 50 stunt men/women would die every year in elaborate stunts the studios pushed for in order to get that Oscar. Like acting where loud, weight gain/loss gets wins more often over quiet, story-driven acting, the award would quickly become, who got closer to dying and there would be no other time for anyone else in the in-memoriam section of the evening.
I mean Tom Cruise does that anyways lmao. The stunts they do are already fairly dangerous, but they also get no recognition for them.
Having casting directors added to the Oscars is fucking insane. They don't do anything of merit. I know a lot of them, and they agree. They may as well have a Unit oscar category or an award for catering.
@@TWFarr casting directors? We're talking about stunt doubles lol
Casting was added to the Oscar’s this year and stunts were shunned yet again. Sorry for venting incoherently
@@TWFarr oh! No You're good 😅 that's honestly a weird category
I worked on it. It was insane. Great atmosphere
Not every film looks like fun to work on, but man this one looked like a good time 😅
I worked on the original Fall Guy in the 80s. That was a trip. There was a serious accident in summer 1983. I really learned how terrifying stunts could be. We used a lot of stunts from existing film footage and edited them in (working on continuity was crazy!)
Sometimes I’d look at a script and think it was garbage, but was always proud of the final result.
Loved one episode with Roy Rogers “King of the Cowboys.”
How did you get into your job as I’m really wanting to work on sets
@@JOOLSBH07 Not sure exactly. Started doing live photography and videography at a local theatre. Studied journalism at University then just started shooting comedy shorts with friends. Fast forward 10 years and I've been working in TV and film for a decade in both Camera and VFX dept. Not sure anyone could tell you how exactly it happens for anyone. You have to want to do it for a long time, and you have to sacrifice a lot of job and life security for it. Also you have to know and surround yourself with people in the industry. Not for the faint hearted. It's a brutal industry, especially now. Big feature films are a very intoxicating environment but yeah if you're considering switching careers for this industry, I'd have to say don't do it [or at least realise that it's a job like any other] Good days, bad days etc.
It was a lot of fun to watch too!
The Fall Guy is a blast.. funny dialog, bad ass REAL stunts and a fun 80s throwback vibe. Go see it!
Glad to see production crew getting recognition for all their work throughout the years
Absolutely;
I still think you could make a series of movies around a stunt man where each movie has this looming "super stunt" that might actually kill him, and the majority of the rest of the film is just interpersonal drama and dealing with production issues
Yes. Yes. I would love that, I am not massive on week to week type shows but I would watch the shit out of that!
Kelly McCormick is not Ryan Gosling's wife.
Sorry, that was actually read wrong. It was supposed to mean "his relationship with his wife, **AND*** producer Kelly McCormick" Because he took instances from both professional and personal relationships. Kind of missed that in the edit, sorry about that
@@FrameVoyagerHe’s not actually married to Eva Mendes, by the way…they’ve just been together for 13 years and have two school age daughters
My head cannon is Drive takes place during his back injury.
Man, I remember watching the TV show when I was a kid. Good times! This looks like an interesting film and pretty cool to hear it's being directed by someone who knows a thing or two about the stunts. Who better to direct.
Yeah! I'm pretty excited about this film. Should be a fun watch
Today, I just got back from this movie, I swear, If people know me in real life, I've always said that stuntman need their own Oscar category!
My sister (Who doesn't like to go watch Movies period, Loved this Film!)
I's so glad I can come to your videos and know I'm not going to get any plot spoilers while the movie is still in cinemas. Like I could have gotten the same number of spoilers from this video as the trailer for the movie, and yet now I'm more interested in seeing it because 1) it's still in cinemas, and 2) You've given me an overview of the movie's importance and cool production techniques.
That's why I like doing these right before the film comes out! I don't give away any details beyond what's already been shared! I actually don't think anyone else on TH-cam is doing these sorts of videos
@@FrameVoyager I certainly haven't been suggested anyone by the algohrithm doing this kind of content. The quality and detail you manage to condense into a short space of time is great too. Can send me down some production rabbitholes I didn't know about myself.
Rabbit holes are what I do best 😅
VIDEO NOTE 2: Got an extremely late copyright claim on one part of this video. It doesn't really take away from anything in the video, so no worries! You might just notice an awkward cut in the 11:00 minute mark area. Just wanted to let you know that's what it was haha
Usually we let these videos sit on our TH-cam account for a while to just make sure no copyright claims come through and edit if they do, I've just never had one come through 9 hours after we've released a video before.
Normally I skip the sponsor bit but because I love your work, I make a point of watching it all.
I began following you because of your BM reviews, but I am glad that you have transitioned to this kind of content.
Appreciate it! Yeah, there was only so much to talk about with camera stuff and I like storytelling type content way better. But hey, still get to use some of the camera knowledge from time to time in some of these videos!
This movie was a big surprise. Love every second of it! We need a Stunt-Oscar!
Saw it in cinema 2 days ago - amazing! Easy and light, self aware and ironic. Not to romcom, great action. Fun, great dialogue, amazing visuals and stunts! Great great job!
Legends of The Fall Guy
I enjoyed it.
Was also fun spotting the guy setting up explosives in the beginning and sound recording in the end is an Australian comedian from a duo called “The Umbilical Brothers”.
I CANNOT WAIT, to watch this Video after I see “The Fall Guy”. I’m so EXCITED😆
Can't wait to see the film too!
Is it possible that the release of Refn’s Drive has played a (small) part in the fact the project stayed in development hell (since it’s essentially the story of a stuntman doing another job by night, with the twist being that this job is not being a bounty hunter but more being on the other end of said bounty… I know you know the film but still) ?
haha could be! I actually forgot about that film and that Ryan Gosling was in it! Man, I would have mentioned this in the video too.
I'm still not sure it affected it too much since they were still talking about the film in 2013. So I think there was probably enough distance at that point. My guess is the people attached to the project got pulled into other things. I think that's around the time Dwayne Johnson started really blowing up and getting signed to all of those movies.
Great video, can’t wait to see this movie next weekend
Hummer EV camera car is crazy
It’s kinda funny that behind that hummer camera car there’s another camera car following it
And apparently the ultimate arm on that hummer was custom made for the movie and not something off the shelf
Did Gosling just state that he was in the car alongside the stunt driver for the world breaking canon roll? Gotta be shitting me.
He clearly didn't. He was describing a scene in the movie.
There's one glaring error in a lot of stunt-scenes though.
The "fake" camera car is driving around with lights on.
They don't do that. In fact, they usually tape up the lights to reduce reflections.
Think you got your script wrong at 5:58 Ryan Goslings wife is Eva Mendes, Kelly McCormick is David Leitch's Wife
We noted that in our pinned comment. It was just awkward wording that was in the script we didn't catch. Was supposed to be talking about both his wife and the producer
great vid but that woodboard overlay texture has got to be ditched in future vids
😂😂😂 I was just testing a projector method out haha
In Casino Royale they broke the record in an Aston Martin
The Fall Guy development didn't actually start in 2010 as many people are saying.
Along with Knight Rider, there was talk of a Fall Guy film in the early 2000s however it wasn't until 2010 that the film was announced.
What happened at 06:34 ?
The Fall Guy was not filmed at ox studios.
I have weird feelings that a movie about a stunt man isn’t starring a stunt man 😅
You Upload About The Production Of Challengers (2024)
What's YOUR Favorite Stunt performed in a film?
The Road Warrior.
Where the guy gets thrown from a vehicle and hits his legs and does a flip. Luckily he was okay but was pretty banged up.
It was nice if the real stunt actor get a chance to start this movie though
5:52 This is complete BS. Gosling isn't married to Kelly McCormick, director David Leitch is.
That was an awkward line. Look at pinned comment
@@FrameVoyager Oh ok, I have them turned off.
Wonder if with so much focus and praise being on the crew, if they also paid the crew fair rates, or if they had exploitative rates anyways. Put the money where your mouth is.
I would say it would be pretty upsetting for a former stuntman to not try and pay that crew fairly, especially making this kind of film.
Bruh, Ryan Gosling is married to Eva Mendes lol. Kelly McCormick is the directors wife
Pinned comment
What a missed opportunity not to have this movie at least loosely based on the tv show. The reason we like the fall guy is because Lee Major's character was a bad ass not only because he was a stuntman.
Made it until 30 minutes into the movie, had to bail, what a bad production.
The almost endless B.S. conversations between leading characters, was having curled toes until it hurt.
The trailer murdered any interest I had. Shot through the...Shot through the..Shot through the..etc,etc....
decent movie, could've been good with a better cast
like who?
@@MegInWhispers Lee majors 🤣
SPOILER ALERT: Lee Majors is in it 🤣🤣
@@FrameVoyager yeah ik cool to see him 🤣
Disapointed in the movie. Too cartoonish.
