You play so very beautiflly, with such feeling - I love it! I have a C hulusi. Any ideas on how to stop the extra little unwanted note that sometimes creeps in at the start, and particularly at the end of coming off a note? I notice it doesn't happen with you, or if it does it's barely noticable. I have tried opening my mouth suddenly, and sticking my tongue in the hole as the book advises, but it still happens. Is there a technique that you use to prevent this happening?
Kerri Powles Nadishana performed perfect!I am so surprised a foreigner could performed Chinese instruments too gracefully ,smoothly and professionally! I am a Chinese Hulusi hobbyist. Your problem is a common situation in the first step of learning Hulusi. But it is not complex. You'd better pay attention following items. 1,You must blow strongly and suddenly. If you blow too slightly, the key will perform wrong note. [Except low 3(mi or E),if you want to perform this note, you must cover all holes and blow slowly and slightly]. By the way, blowing need to change lightly as the note rising. For example, you cannot heard anything if you blow 5(sol or G)and 6(la or A) strongly. 2,Never to stick your tongue in the hole. This is a wrong way. But opening your mouth suddenly is a right method. And the important point is stoping your breath at that time! You know, unwanted noise due to residual air. 3,At the step of respiration, opening the mouth large and quickly . Then inhaling suddenly. These keys should be practiced frequently. The keys in the Hulusi are Breath,Tongue and Fingers! Another reason maybe is your Hulusi's quality. Do not use the Hulusi which made by plastics and fake cucurbit. There are lots of noise in that product. Using the Hulusi which made by real cucurbit and flute made by wood or bamboo. I am happy to solve all the performers' problems. Thank you so much York Young!! That was extremely informative. I will take particular note of those points when playing. You are a star for taking the time to type all that out for me. I really appreciate it :)
It was my pleasure! Hulusi is a very simple but interesting instrument. Everyone could play a music by it in a short time. And it is beneficial to the health, especially cardio-pulmonary function and brain . I wish you could perform more and more great and perfect! I hope an increasing number of foreigners like this Chinese instrument. If you need any music score, accompaniment MP3 or request, send email to me please.
Mr. York. I'm a begginer in Hulusi and I was wondering if you could help me clarify one thing. I have two diferent hulusis, one in F and one in bB, Could you help me telling me what note is the one that sound when i close all holes (5.) in F anf bB? This would help me make my finger chart arranging notes in the number notation.
..if the reeds work correctly, an Hulusi (or a Bawu) in F has these notes: from the low (A underblown) C D E F G A (could also play a B with a fork) C D
a max of reverberation ! ....he can't sound like that with the single instrument.... Nadishana is a very good musician, but also a very good seller of his own shop..
This is simply beautiful music, if I visit Germany I will come to your shop.Cheers Tony.

хорошо. а где найти учебник для игры на хулуси?
Hi, sounds great ! Sorry for asking ( I’m amateur) , is this B major or B minor key ?
how are you doing tremelo . wtf, mystical
