    Sweet,two rock chips so far,,. Let the patina commence

      For sure! The car doesn't care if it gets a rock chip. It doesn't bother me either and if I want to fix them, I know I can.

    You actually helped me with my project! I am putting in a aftermarket battery box for my bug, and I was going to just bolt it to the floor. Problem is, that’s begging for water intrusion. If I use the Rivnuts, I can seal them and have a much cleaner look. Thank you.

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto
      @GarageTimeAutoResto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool! Rivnuts are pretty cool especially after paint. Before paint, I like flush weld nuts too.

    Nice work Tom. I’m not a fan of the RS bumpers but understand that it’s the logical placement for the cooler. You make it look too easy. 😆

      Thanks! Plumbing the oil lines might be more of a challenge. Will see? It was a lot of work taking the bumper on and off, but time lapse makes it look easy, ha ha.

    I would bring the cooler all the way out and maybe leave a 5 mm lip and reinforce the lip from the back. I like to see how you do it. Looking great.

      Thanks for the suggestion! I want to leave room for a grill too. I just received some fittings this week, so that will help determine the final position too.

      Cool. I might need a fender cooler too with a fan for low speed driving.

    This one is on my list of things to do as well, the CSF product being on my shortlist. I hear you on getting help that doesn't include arguments! 🙂 ... BTW, I've seen people install these things without cutting into the body for airflow (see the forums on Pelican Parts.) I think with a G-Body and a RS style bumper (that juts out further than your slender bumpers) there might be just enough room to make it work... I guess I'll find out.

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto
      @GarageTimeAutoResto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Highly recommend CSF! Well made, easy mounting holes with helicoil inserts!, And large AN16 /M22 ports
      As long as the airflow has a place to go, you are fine. The cross sectional area behind the cooler should be equal or bigger than the face area.

      @@GarageTimeAutoResto That's a good tip. I've been watching some of Julian Edgar's videos on aerodynamics, and that's given me some ideas on venting the output as well. A project for the new year then! Cheers.

    Don’t you need a grill in it to protect the cooler from rocks and debris?

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto
      @GarageTimeAutoResto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, coming soon. Will improve the aesthetics too. Ie flush grill

      @@GarageTimeAutoResto I’m on my third 911, all C4S. I bought a new to me 991.2 C4S manual last month and need to be grills on it, so my radiators don’t catch debris and cause an expensive repair. Porsche puts them on the GT3, but that’s it. They don’t even sell ones to use. Guess I’ll get Zensport ones.

    Just found your channel. Great stuff. I'm going through a similar front mount cooler install and was looking for part 2 of running the lines but couldn't find a video. Did you not end up documenting that?

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto
      @GarageTimeAutoResto  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks, I'm happy you're here. I haven't finished the cooler lines yet. I went back to CSF to see if I could get a different cooler with fittings ports at a different angle and that didn't work. They suggest banjo fittings which would work, but gives extra flow restriction.
      I'll end up making custom hard lines, but it will be tough.
      Stay tuned.
      Tom

    You have to go 100 miles at wide open throttle in the Sahara before that front oil cooler thermostat opens up.
