this has helped so much, the reason I used to be scared of falling is cause I had a lesson horse buck me off, and I thought my life was in danger, his name is Zumba he's a stallion and he is over 17,00 pounds, he threw me, and my FOFR kinda saved me, "FOFR" stands for, Fight Or Flight Response, and my natural instinct kinda kicked in and I saved me, I thought I was going to die, and I somehow landed on my feet with the stallion bolting away. tysm for the tips of how to get rid of my fear.
Thank you so much!! This will really help because I fell off last year and now I just had a confident knock back and I was super scared but this video makes me feel a bit less scared and it really helped! ☺☺
Ya, my cousin told me to “just get back on, you’ll be fine”... I had tried to ride my horse bareback, she spun and ran off... I fell off and bruised my tailbone pretty bad... and now I can’t try to get on her bareback cuz I’m terrified😣
I've got the fear of riding because I have a little son (5 years old now). Becoming a mother has really ran a number on my brain. I worry about body injuries even though accidents were minor in my riding history. I really appreciate the tips for the brain reframe/visualization/mantra, the count down, body posture, and PRACTICE. Also the reminder that we're all on our own journey and that comparison is a thief of joy. 🐎 🐴 ride on folks!! I'm going riding this week, even if it's just a small ride.
I’m also a mama of boys. They are 22 & 23 now, but when they were 6 & 7 I broke my back (1st time) falling off a playground slide while playing tag with them. I was a single mom and now couldn’t work and couldn’t walk. I also was living in VA and my whole family was in UT. To say it was hard is an understatement. But my boys and I bonded so much over the next 6 months. We are still very close. They both live in other states now but they call everyday. The other day my oldest and I talked for 6 hours. I guess I’m trying to say if something happens you will still be a great mom. I assume you are right now because this is a concern for you, you will still be amazing for that little guy.
Yeah, I’ve felt like that with the cowgirl up talk. But my best friend has been super supportive. Thanks for this video!! I got bucked off of a horse a few months back and it’s been so hard to get back to being comfortable on a horse. Thanks again!!
Ya when I was 6 I got a 16 hand horse. I had had it for a few days and when I was riding him he reared up and started to buck. Worst part of all was I was in a bare back pad. I hated horses for about a year. Then wanted to ride agin. So right now I am 11 and am taking riding lessons in a English saddle. I was doing good until it was time to loap. Every time the horse would take a step into it I would stop him. I did not even try to It just happed. I gust it just reminded me of a buck at first. Now I’m getting it down. Thanks for the tips ❤️
Farming injuries have caused issues as I have aged (64+), so I'm afraid that I won't have the skills necessary to react to younger and greener horses. I doubt my self because I am afraid of getting hurt to the point that I won't be able to support myself and family.
I’m not afraid of riding I’ve been doing it for so long but my horse trusts me so much she knows I’m gonna keep her safe so she wants to be in front and m y sisters horse is the boss so she wants too so sometimes I get nervous cause her horse chases, bites or kicks at my horse and I’m afraid she’s gonna get my leg or hurt my horse badly.
I have that fear of my horse tripping and crushing me! She tends to stumble a lot on her front feet under saddle. A few weeks ago she stumbled and fell all the way to the ground with me on her back. Luckily, she popped right back up before I even had time to get off but that has me so paranoid!😬
My horse doesn't like her ears being messed with and my grandpa tried to get the bridle over her ear while I was on it. She flipped out and reared, she feel sideways and she rolled over me . Falling off the horse isn't my fear it's them rolling over me and the horn crushing me. The horn was in my chest and I got the wind knocked out of me, that was the scariest ish ever man... I haven't been on since that day 7 years ago, I really want to get back on a horse. I think these are good tips for when I go back home to ride again. And as a navajo, riding horses is almost second nature to us. So I definitely heard "get back on you'll be alright".
Gosh that’s so scary! The biggest thing I would do is get on something safe when your getting back into it. In fact always stay on something safe. There’s definitely situations when it gets dangerous and it’s better to hand that over to a professional and keep your confidence:)
A few weeks ago the saddle slid to the side and I fell off for my first time. I tried to go fast and I did. I’m scared of going fast because last time my life flashed before my eyes I remember ever second of it. I got back on today and walked a little but too scared to fall again. Any tips on how to stay on and control your horse? And how to sit and move
Yes he is fine and I was just riding with a bareback Pad, my trainer has no idea why he did that as well. Thot I'd ask you maybe you would know. Thank you! your so smart.
Sometimes horses just pull stupid crap on us if we don’t continually make it clear what’s expected. Like me link a video that would be helpful to watch next time that happens :)
I had an accident with my 6 year old Thoroughbred. She dragged me for a little bit before I got free. My anxiety stops me from getting on her again. I start to shake so badly and can't breathe. So I take a break and try again but every time I try again I lose trust in myself. Even thinking about it makes me wanna cry. I have been riding since I was 5. Since owning my horses its been a whole big turn around. Trailer problems and falling off. I continue to overthink and scare myself.
So what do I do when my horse is like 17 so he’s old and he’s not going to do anything but last time we rode he was attached to this other horse and kept throwing his head and it scared me so I don’t want to ride my my uncle said not to be afraid because he won’t do anything and when I ride bear back his ears go back any tips ?
Im just so scared to ride. Riding is fun but I'm a bigginer and I'm not that familiar with control and its just really hard for me. I hate being scared of it and to not be excited to ride
Hey, so I think I am going through a confidence lose with horse riding right now, and I'm not really sure why. Yesterday when I got on I just felt kind of scared and uneasy which is not at all how I usually feel. I felt like I didn't want to go any faster than a walk, because I was scared. I know this happens sometimes, but is there anything I can do to get my confidence back?
I am afraid of the horse itself but he is not bad at all.I just have him now 1 months he is 4 years old I also have a nanny horse she is a 21 year old trail horse. I am just scared they both around me all the time and I am scared they bush or maybe bite each other I don’t know how to keep them separate they are in a big field together all the time .
I tied my horse with the lead rope to the fence then mounted from the fence I got on fine and I leaned over and untied lead rope and my horse bolted and bucked me off. Would you know why he did this? He is a really calm and lazy horse otherwise so this was totally not like him.
What if you are too afraid even after years? My girlfriend only brushes and does ground work shes been riding 20 years.. and the horse she refuses to get on is dead dead dead broke shes trained him. But one horse threw her off and it wasnt the first time but the horse tried to kill her on the ground then she refused to ever be around them.... but shes hurting about it and misses it.
Awww that is so sad that’s happening!😭 I love that you are trying to help her!!❤️ Some of the things in this video should help her. I mean the only way to gain the trust again is being around the horses doing ground work and then u really just have to get back on. Sadly there isn’t a way around it but getting on a horse you know is safe and you trust would be super helpful:) Hopefully this helps
I have been afraid to ride ever since I broke my collar bone training a pony stud he bucked me off when I put him into a canter and I finally realized I'm perfectly calm at a walk and trot it's cantering that scares me now and I hate it because I used to love to canter
My fear comes more from me trying to keep my seat and stay centered while running. I have been trying to find tips on staying centered and not feeling like I am going to fall off forever. Everyone says use your legs while running to help but I don't get it by them just saying it and not showing it
Ta.painthorses Topel this is on my list to film so I’ll be able to have a good video soon to show that. Make sure your subscribed so you don’t miss out when it comes out:) have you tried to drop your stirrups and check you body positioning? Here’s a video that might help.
So I have a horse with EPM and I try to ride him but I am scared that I will hurt him or I will fall I have had this horse since 2014 or 2015 I am trying my hardest to get over the fear but I can’t what can I do
I would talk to a really good equine performance horse vet and get him cleared there first. Once that is done you'll have a lot more confidence knowing the horse is good:)
I’ve never been in a serious accident, just 2 minor falls, and yet my brain goes “well, what if he falls? What if he bucks? What if he bolts? What if he throws me into the fence? What if he runs into the other horse? “ I hate my mind

Lol I’m laying here with a broken back from being thrown. Everyone is telling me to quit and never ride again. I’d rather hear “Cowgirl Up”.😂
Haha well cowgirl girl then 😂😊❤️
Yes, I was buked and I almost pastout

Have you first checked for soreness? Ulcers? Poor saddle fit?
yes that hapend alot of tome

Ta.painthorses Topel Also how often do you ride? Balance takes hours and hours of saddle time to get down.
So I have a horse with EPM and I try to ride him but I am scared that I will hurt him or I will fall I have had this horse since 2014 or 2015 I am trying my hardest to get over the fear but I can’t what can I do

Someone told me to take a shot before going jumping once to help with nerves :') I think it'd just make me worse.
RunOnBarbaro yes alcohol actually does the opposite of helping your focus! Your on track with that, probably want to avoid that:)

Your not the only one, that definitely is a fear that’s a valid one. Let me link you in a video to help:)
