I think its from the stories being told about ten tails. It's appearance is blacked out because no one really knew what it looked like because they never actually saw it in person yet until the war. For example there's this playable character that's still locked and all you can see is it's black silhouette. I think that's what they're trying to achieve with the black thingy.
