@@NM-ev7pu don't be foolish the eyes can see when something bad happens. How serious it is isn't set in stone but come on your body doesn't ripple for no reason.
Couple things I disagree with what this guy says. @2:16 1. The first injury against the Rockets wasn't when he landed off the jump shot. It was the couple steps after he hit it and pushed off to go run back on D (in that dorsi flexion position Brian was mentioning). Pushing off is what causes the achilles tendon to rupture. He landed from the jumper, hopped, planted off his right foot to run back and then got injured, not when he landed. That's why I think he injured the achilles initially, on top of his reaction to looking back like someone kicked or tripped him. He also wasn't able to bend his foot down when walking he was walking with his foot flat (similar to how he was walking on Monday after injuring it). That's why I think he partially ruptured it or strained it initially against the rockets and that it wasn't a calf strain. The other thing I disagree with, is this guy saying that if it's a full rupture you can't bend or create any plantar flexion with your foot @5:50. This is false. I fully ruptured my achilles and was still able to bend my foot down. Now it wasn't with any weight on it. It was like how KD did it. Sitting down and bending it, but you can do that with a full rupture b/c your ankle is allowing your foot to bend and is supporting the movement (it feels weak and uncomfortable but it's still doable). Trying to do it while standing on it tho, won't work cause the achilles tendon is what helps transfer the power/strength from your calf in the movement. It is definitely possible that the initial injury was a calf strain. Achilles ruptures usually happen cause it's overcompensating for another injured part in your leg. But from personal experience, it takes time to build up. I partially tore my PCL and Meniscus in my left knee 4 years before tearing my left achilles. One thing to remember is Durant had a Jones fracture on his foot/leg 5 years ago on that same right side. Could have been what helped lead to these injuries. But based off of the first injury, my guess is he initially injured his achilles, not his calf and the warriors were hiding this from us.
You're acting like he didn't wanna be out there too. Stop it. The man is an ULTIMATE competitor and he didn't wanna see his team go out like it was headed. If you think they somehow forced him to go out and play you are dumb as a box of rocks
@@zendo09 yes he wanted to play and you see the outcome? He played even hes not 100 percent. He mentally thinks that he's all good to go but he's body doesn't think so
Excellent medical insight. My wife just had an Achilles tendon surgery and we're pretty familiar with recovery. Considering the insane stresses of NBA basketball, it's amazing the players (Cousins, Durant) can come back and play within a year.
This will have the effect of when Michael Jordan retired from basketball and will be just as strange. I still can't believe that the GSW management took a risk with their most valuable asset the way that they did. They could have beaten the Raptors without him, but they lost that opportunity when they lost two games at Oracle. It is impossible to keep the GSW guards down for 7 games, but the other parts of the team were not ready. Another thing is that the Warriors regular season record was one win less than the Raptors, this was the factor that I looked at to pick the Raptors for this series along with the way the Raptors had to face tougher competition to get to the finals. Additionally, the Raptors had to work on improving their game throughout the whole playoffs. And lastly, the Raptors are in better physical condition because they had to play more games. But now the Raptors need one game and the Warriors need two to clinch the championship. The Raptors could actually rest a bit if they feel like the game is out of reach in the second half and get ready for game 7. The Warriors need to play hard to win game 6. I hope game 6 isn't a blow out for the Warriors. But I do think they should have the edge going home if they play their game: move the ball, make more than 200 passes in the game (a key statistic for the Warriors), limit their turnovers, get more than 30 assists in the game, get as many easy lay ups as possible (another factor that the Raptors have limited them on during the games at Oracle; so many people don't talk about how much their 3 point shooting gives them easy drives to the basket), and control their defensive board. The Raptors have to make their open shots, don't relax on defense at all, get offensive rebounds, don't turn the ball over , be patient on offense and not settle for 3 point shots, work the interior with their bigs (a definite key to their chances to beat the Warriors), contain the Warriors during the start of the second half, make their foul shots, and give Ibaka a few more minutes in key situations. No lead is too great with time on the clock for the Warriors not to score and make it interesting, unless it 20 points or more with 2 minutes left.
Even if you don't like KD you should be unhappy with this injury. Any true basketball fan should want to see the best game possible played on the court. Which means the best players all being healthy in an ideal world.
@@siukong I am so upset at the Warriors for not managing the minutes of players throughout the whole season. You are totally correct. Now, I am more upset because the best player is probably gone for two years.
This insight was quite valuable. To an outside viewer, much is unclear about a situation, and this allows everyone to fully understand the ripple effect of this injury - the performance of the Warriors, the future of KD, and the future of the NBA.
Not a big fan of KD after what he did to my okc but you gotta hate seeing players getting injured. Hope he recovers quickly and gets back to the same level
Why is everybody acting like this man wasn't instrumental in getting back on the court, you GOTTA be stupid if you think this man didn't wanna be out there to help his team.
Some of those Raptors fans were acting really scummy last night. I'm rooting for the Raptors in this series but cheering for a player getting injured is disgusting behavior.

omar arreola Kevin decided to go out and play, he was pushing to play, at the end of the day if kevin Durant wants to play they can't stop him, he should have sat not been eager to rush back to play
@Mark W for real, it was definitely a lack of long term thinking. Take your lumps at losing the ring this time, but get a big payday and contend for years to come. Instead he came back and got one of the most serious sports injuries possible - very likely missing the entire season next year, possibly losing out on millions of dollars in free agency and who knows if he'll ever be the same player again. Truly sad.
Mark W Nah man. Warriors fans want to see the best team possible just like anyone else. Dubs are just better at this NBA shit everybody else. We draft better. Develop players better, sign better free agents etc. it’s for natural for fans of other teams to want to see us lose. But if your team was as good as the Dubs, you telling me you wouldn’t want that? Lol
Mark W Nellie drafted Steph. He knew. The Logo drafted Klay. He knew. That’s my point. I was a Warriors fan in the 90s but like everyone else I was also a Jordan fan. And yes, we wanted to see as much Jordan greatness as possible. But these are different times I guess. All I’m saying is that true Dubs fans aren’t so different from other fans because we know what it is to root for a losing team. Now these bandwagons...
They wouldn't have a reason to if that was the case! The man wanted to help his team !! What don't yall understand about that ? I see none of yall been in no real war , injured or not , being there for your brothers is EVERYTHING . And he wanted to do that, everyone knew he wasnt fully healthy. No one just expects something as catastrophic as that to happen, reinjuring hisself his first game back.. you cant predict shit like that.
Thank you so much for having Brian on. I’m so sick of all of the speculation and blame games from all of these media people. Very refreshing and informative to hear someone qualified speak on this. Best wishes to KD and thankfully with his height and talent, he can continue to be effective whenever he can play again💯
@@dumbunny8128 I guess, but they said that there was no minutes restriction before the game started. It was a mistake to not have a minutes restriction even if the doctors said he was 100% healed because he hadn't played anything that demanding before last nights game.
I would not. Too much of a risk. Better to get Anthony Davis right now or Zion compared to him. That's the safer bet and they're both healthy right now and young.
Thing that disgusts me is there were Raptor fans saying bye and waving their hands to KD after the injury. Ik he was there to end your teams great run in the playoff, and you would be more comfortable in winning the ring. But KD is a human, respect the man’s situation and stop doing that. Some people were adults. That just disgusts me and it kills me inside that there’s people like that.
The doctors shouldn’t of let him play, even if the the injury was mostly fine he was favoring his injured leg and that could of hurt his other one. That game could of led to permanent injury.

They sacrifice a player for just a one game than a 2 to 3 seasons
You're acting like he didn't wanna be out there too. Stop it. The man is an ULTIMATE competitor and he didn't wanna see his team go out like it was headed. If you think they somehow forced him to go out and play you are dumb as a box of rocks
@@jlking0098 Heey sir just remember that health is wealth.
Kd is not 100 percent he just forced it
He wanted to play you idiot! ... you asshole
@@zendo09 Then he got what he deserved instead of healing himself more.
@@zendo09 yes he wanted to play and you see the outcome? He played even hes not 100 percent. He mentally thinks that he's all good to go but he's body doesn't think so
Great video! Thanks a lot for this Brian and Coach Nick.
The Warriors doctors ruined his career by clearing him to play when he clearly had an Achilles issue.
Even though I'm not a warrior fan, it's the same as Haywards injury, every one felt it. Hope u recover KD
ForeverFw Wolf everyone but raptor fans
YOOO Coach Nick and Sports MD 👀 fire collab!
Excellent medical insight. My wife just had an Achilles tendon surgery and we're pretty familiar with recovery. Considering the insane stresses of NBA basketball, it's amazing the players (Cousins, Durant) can come back and play within a year.
OMG Dr. Brian colab!!!
Woop Woop!!
This channel has the best collabs of all time!
If you like kd or not every basketball fan knew we lose someone special for the nba if he cant play anymore
Edit: sorry for my bad english
Bruh why all these players got bald spots? The HGH supplements are crazy
🤔
Thanks for your guest conversation very illuminating on the durant injury
That’s why Khawi Leonard signed with New Balance lol the best shoes in the world & doctors recommended it 😝
Great to see Doctor Sutterer here at bballbreakdown
They shouldn't have rushed him out. Damn.
LeBeautiful he went out himself
that man brian is just amazing his smile alone made my day
where all the keyboard warriors piling on and speculating about the whole way GS handled the situation
Another high quality video from Nick
Not a big fan of KD after what he did to my okc but you gotta hate seeing players getting injured. Hope he recovers quickly and gets back to the same level
What did he do to OKC? Exercised his right to free agency so he doesn’t have to play with Westbrick?
jumping jehosaphat went to the team he lost to in the wcf after playing the worst basketball I’ve seen him play in the last 3 games of the series
Love the fact that your have a real scientific medical expert instead of pundit commenting on the situation. Keep up the great work!
So glad u got brian on the vid
I just clicked the subscribed button for coach nick and dr. Brian! They are ridiculously good in breaking down stuffs like this.
Even as a raptors fan watching the injury made me feel sick!
Great video coach, Brian explained the injury very well, great job Brian
Warriors better give him the max contract after coercing him to play when they damn well knew he was injures
Why is everybody acting like this man wasn't instrumental in getting back on the court, you GOTTA be stupid if you think this man didn't wanna be out there to help his team.
great video. super informative. much more useful than all the speculation on twitter and basically every news outlet
Anyone else notice Kd had the same shoes on when he injured himself🤷🏼♂️
Same spot too
coach nick is about the feat with every basketball analyst youtuber i watched

More informative than anything I have seen. Thank you
Notice how when Durant walked back to the locker room, Steph was right there? The heart of the team and a real leader.
Wth Coach Nick! First was Heat Check, now Brian. Both are my favorite channels. Im hyped!
Some of those Raptors fans were acting really scummy last night. I'm rooting for the Raptors in this series but cheering for a player getting injured is disgusting behavior.
Lol they were cheering for the fast break and free throw shots
Dec Bow u wrong chap, some were doing clear sings, pointing Durant, doing goodbye sings, dissgusting, hard to recognize? I feel you man, but you should admit the truth
C'mon. Don't generalize the minority of jackass fans who cheered his injury to most of the stadium. They had a standing ovation for Durant.
MrVedude most of the arena cheering for the injury, plus the whole Jurassic Park. You can choose to keep on lying to yourself, but a fact is a fact.
My two favourite breakdown channels I love it
KD should never listen to those people again. Those who allowed him to play. Listen to your body. You only have one body.
KD played cause they prob would've lost without his minutes in the game. I agree with you, but they were desperate and KD's body paid the price.
omar arreola Kevin decided to go out and play, he was pushing to play, at the end of the day if kevin Durant wants to play they can't stop him, he should have sat not been eager to rush back to play
Really enjoyed the breakdown from Biran, seem like a really knowledgeable and well spoken guy.
They wouldn’t have put him in if the warriors were up 3-1, smh I blame everyone in this situation
I hope the warriors win this championship for KD
WE BELIEVE!!!
Disgusting
Eric The best
Yeah keep hoping
😏
Way to go golden state medical staff. Could potentially fuck kd's career. And u think he's gonna resign. A BIG LOL
Your channel and content is awesome 👏🏾 .. I love the basketball break downs and the guest you have on .. you have the prefect guess too for the topics
He definitely should've at least had a minute restriction.
Those were my thoughts before the game. But it's hard to pull a shooter out when they're 3-3 from behind the arc.
they should at least start him from the bench. I remember they did that 3 yrs ago when Steph came back from the injury in the playoff.
Who cares
@@realviewsnetwork1166 About what?
@@dumbunny8128 I guess, but they said that there was no minutes restriction before the game started. It was a mistake to not have a minutes restriction even if the doctors said he was 100% healed because he hadn't played anything that demanding before last nights game.
Love this colab coach great work
I would still give KD a max contract with or without the injury
Ohh he will get that max contract belive me, even if he misses the next season, it's a blessing having the best player in the NBA on your team
I would not. Too much of a risk. Better to get Anthony Davis right now or Zion compared to him. That's the safer bet and they're both healthy right now and young.
osurocks 24 Right Anthony Davis who gets hurt every season lmao
Thing that disgusts me is there were Raptor fans saying bye and waving their hands to KD after the injury. Ik he was there to end your teams great run in the playoff, and you would be more comfortable in winning the ring. But KD is a human, respect the man’s situation and stop doing that. Some people were adults. That just disgusts me and it kills me inside that there’s people like that.
The doctors shouldn’t of let him play, even if the the injury was mostly fine he was favoring his injured leg and that could of hurt his other one.
That game could of led to permanent injury.
Dr. Sutterer's explanation of the extra load on the achilles due to the scar tissue made a lot of sense, too.
