I never understood why they originally only wanted Molly Ringwald to dance. It just makes more sense to have the whole cast dance and made it so much better
The chick I dated in HS who happened to be my first love (really!) was an A Sheedy look-alike. Not kidding. I didn't know until people told me after prom.
I like how even the song choice reflects the movie, like it’s catchy and upbeat but the lyrics are about how nobody’s as different as they think from one another.
This song is super underrated, in my opinion it represents the movie better than "dont you forget about me", in terms of how well it connects with the story.
Just watching them dance makes me feel good and free. Loosing your mind over your favorite music(s) like that is one of the best sensations you can have. ❤
You'd never believe it, we were just sitting there in detention and all of the sudden we see this man dancing all crazy and guess who it is! Emilio Esteves! Then we were all like EMILIOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Say what you want about the 80's, but that decade had the best movies about coming into your own and being comfortable in your own skin. Incredible films.
I watched it in the theater and it was so good. It hadn't been that long since I had graduated so most of these characters really did represent the types of kids that were in high school. Personally I hated high school so I was probably ally sheedy's character just hiding enough to get through unscathed.
The time of their lives and many other people’s lives . How good it was to be young Those times (83-84-85)! A colourful time and upbeat songs and well-dressed youngsters .Unforgetable film , unforgetable time , indeed !
Emilio José Guimaraes I’m so jealous, at five years old I daydreamed of being a teenager in the 80’s! I used to watch my older cousin (who was supposed to be babysitting us) who was 17 and just be in awww!
Don’t be jealous, Leeta . In a way, you lived that time, too. Even being a child, you have got that feeling in your heart. Lucky us to have this unforgettable movie to take us back to those times and somehow bring some fun and inspiration to these dull days we’re living.
After a 22 minute scene of confessionals, this scene is catharis - total 'get it out of your system.' When you have revealed yourself, no one feels like they'll be attacked anymore - so they cut loose. Total fucking freedom! Bless you John Hughes!
I feel like Allison and I would have been best friends in high school (if I was alive in the 80s...lol) This movie is hands down one of the greatest of all time imo 😊
My 5 year old loves 80s music and we just were listening to sunglasses at night and she started doing the famous breakfast club walk and i was cracking up! Of course i started doing it with her. Shes never seen this before so she just started doing it on her own which is the best part
I love this movie, but the thing that makes me laugh so much, is there all dancing to the music, that is really loud, there is only them in the building, but the headmaster ,doesn't hear any music 🎶, totally cool film though. 😂😂🥳👍
Superintendent Chalmers comes in: "You are the so called Breakfast Club?" Emilio: "Wrong, we are the Fight Club!" (smashes him down and the others starts dancing on him)🤣
Originally, this scene was supposed to be just Molly RIngwald dancing, but she was embarrassed to dance by herself. So, director John Hughes told the rest of them to go out and dance with her. There was no choreography. It was all pretty much ad-lib.
The dancing goes good with any song you play with it. The song in the scene is great but I sometimes like playing this scene muted while listening to other songs. It can work with other 80's songs, vaporwave, Hip Hop even Heavy Metal.
Crazy that Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy played high schoolers in The Breakfast Club and college grads in St. Elmo's Fire, which both came out the same year.

Fact: This movie was filmed in the gym. The school’s library was too small, so the crew built the set in the gym.

0:22 For me, the part that transports me back in time is this scene with Claire. The dancing, the camera angle, the music.
I like how even the song choice reflects the movie, like it’s catchy and upbeat but the lyrics are about how nobody’s as different as they think from one another.

Fun Fact: Molly Ringwald wasnt confortable dancing alone.
So they made them all dance. It made the scene better and make more sense anyway.
Another fun fact: The bannister they all dance on they got a piece of it after filming wrapped
1:03 - 1:13 best 10 seconds ever

Same here 😂😂
Are you a bad dancer?
I practised these moves for... four days. And they did not go to waste.
I had detention almost every Saturday when I was in school and unfortunately it was never as fun as this.

Ya. I’m in love with 1980’s Ally Sheedy but Molly Ringwald is soooooo cute dancing.
