    I actually had the unpleasant thing happened to me at the job site. I was working with it a Buddy of mine. I ended up falling into a septic tank that nobody knew about. There were 2 homes on the property. When the guy first bought the property, everyone thought the subject system from both units were in one spot. Well, we ended up driving the one time over a part of his yard near a porch of the old building. The foundation was the only thing left of this building. And it had cement stairs and Stone stairs. That way you knew it was the porch. After I drove across it, I went to drop the tailgate to dump some loam I do believe. When the ground collapsed underneath me. It was pretty disgusting my boss gave me the rest of the day off. The homeowner decided to pay for my cleaning bill and gave me some extra money. Which I split with the rest of the crew. It's not my first time getting covered and crap. The place before I worked at had a pump out truck. The gaskets were not very good on it. And the place where you had unload was. You had the back it up ands close as you could to the Is m off tank. Where the solids and the liquids were blinded together then distributed to the leech fields. The connecting hose to the back of the truck had a tenth to spray if you didn't put it on correctly. It took me twice to realize the trick.

      @@rogerstlaurent8704 I did and it wasn't the first time. It was the first time of feeling weightlessness. Then coming to a soft landing somewhat. It scared the crap right out of me. And the guy I was working with. He got freaked out too because I was there one second and gone the next. The problem was getting the truck back across

    I had an elementary school septic tank to clean, a year old, opened the inlet manhole to reveal 1000 Fireball nips. Someone was flushing nips. I notified the school. Can you imagine the discussion amongst the teachers!

    It's amazing what a human body will get used to.. I remember working at a fiberglass plant and not smelling it after a few months of work in there. But all my friends would tell me I smell like fiberglass. Same thing happened when I worked at sewage plant. After a while you don't smell it anymore unless you're really bad that day.

    We lived at a house from 1971 until 2021, it had septic, we followed the simple rules, septic safe paper even if you don’t like it, and nothing else down the drain but water and #2, we never had the tank pumped in the time we lived there, never, when we sold the house and had to have it pumped as part of pre sale, the company said the tank was in great shape but way too old to keep so it had to be dug out and replaced… never had an issue if you just don’t flush things that don’t belong down the drains

    Have you ever seen an effluent chamber with thousands of snails? Odd problem my family is experiencing in North Louisiana

    • @SlackerU
      @SlackerU 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's funny but an interesting observation. We have snails that clear up the water too. If you were in my county they have been improperly venting the aeration-tank into the trash-tank to vent out of the plumbing-roof-vents so if yours was done as incorrectly as the ones here then you might find your house raining-snails when outdoor temperatures get back above 84f.

      Many critters - Flies especially - Are designed by nature to assist the break-up and decomposition of animal waste, and are especially attuned to dealing with human and canine matter; In effect, they're natures dustmen. Because of this human effluent isn't dangerous to them like it is to us, and (Foul though it might seem to us) they're actually attracted to it. 💩
      I'm not entirely familiar with North American septic systems and how animals might ingress into them...But I do know there are species of mollusc (snail) that are laid and disperse in water currents, as anybody who's maintained fish tanks will know about. If you have a natural or groundwater drawn supply, there's a possibility these molluscs are passing through the household plumbing and then developing inside the septic, which will provide a _lot_ of nutrients for their development. 🐌

    This is not a septic but in the neighborhood.
    Doing home repair. The first time i met s sewage injector pump.
    Raw sewage in basement bath tub. Had to remove pump from well. Mom always said that you could alway wash your hands.
    Had a water hose in backyard. And a 5 gallon bucket with hot soapy water out there.
    With an empty bucket at well. Had to reach almost to my shoulder into raw sewage to get pump. Put it into bucket. Carry it outside. To wrince with hose. Then into soapy water.
    Yes Mom was right. You can always wash your hands. Now it is lunch time😂

    The lack of aeration-tank-venting might have also sent pressured gas into the electrical-box to corrode out the components. You want electrical-putty at every spot possible to make as many air-dams as you can.

    Hey! Not sure if this comment will be lost as im 7 months late, but im curious, when you are washing down a tank- where is the water supply/hose coming from? Do you bring a water source with you on the truck or are these just faucets found on the property and you bring your own hose?

  • @SlackerU
    @SlackerU 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You should have a low-pressure gauge to test the air-pumps. Mine is humming at 2.3-PSI as it is rated for. I do not see a vent-to-atmosphere for the aeration-tank so there is a possibility that with all the riser-screws installed the pump was seeing over the max rated 4-PSI which damaged the diaphragms prematurely. Most OSSFs are designed with the inlet of the aeration-tank dipped-into the trash-tank so that all the extra oxidized-corrosive-gas isn't sent into the house plumbing. The vents need to be fly-proof so don't drill large holes in the chlorinator piping. I prefer to have the vent on the riser (away from groundwater intrusion, a violation) b/c it allows me to smell when I might have used slightly too much bleach as the water entering the aeration-tank will show off the excess (in that chlorinator-vents might confuse some customers. Activated-carbon doesn't work when it is wet & cold so I'll be changing mine when outdoor-temps reach 84-f.

    • @dieseldragon6756
      @dieseldragon6756 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From Dom's other videos, it sounds as if people digging-up their lids in advance is very much appreciated and saves a lot of time/money. I don't know if they charge for digging up the lids (Pretty sure they won't in the case of elderly/disabled persons who couldn't possibly do it by themselves) but if you can locate the tank and do this for your pumper in advance, they'll love you for it. 👍

      Poo is poo
      But cat litter stuck to the poo is not good, it will just sink to the bottom.
      If you have your septic pumped when you should there is no issue, it's like having another person in the house.

      @@volvo09 could have been hair as well but in an aerobic system the clarifier or aeration chamber we are growing a bacteria that eats out feces too high of a pH could kill your bugs. What was the issue with the aeration system?

    • @SlackerU
      @SlackerU 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My guesses,
      #1 aeration-tank not properly-vented leaving both
      a) the air-pump experiencing pressures over the rated 4-psi &
      b) the pressure might have been sending the corrosive gasses into the electrical box to destroy everything.
      #2 the trash-tank overfilled which
      a) overfilled the aeration-tank &
      b) clogged around the air-diffusers over pressuring the rubber-diaphragms into premature failure &
      c) filled the pump-tank with biosolids which
      #3 biosolids probably cogged the sprinklers & put the water-pump over its rated 60-psi which,
      Now their yard is covered in 48-hour cesspool-fever.
