- Ready to upgrade your mountain bike without breaking the bank on specialized tools? In this video, I’ll unbox and install the Marzocchi DJ Bomber Fork on my GT La Bomba dirt jumper, showing you how to tackle a fork swap with regular tools you probably already have at home. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or a seasoned mountain biker looking for honest tips, this video has you covered.
I’ll walk you through the unboxing process, highlighting the features of this legendary Marzocchi Bomber DJ Fork and why it’s a game-changer for dirt jump and pump track riders. Then, I’ll dive into the installation, proving you don’t need a pro shop setup to get the job done, but you will need a conversion kit if you're planning on running 15mm x 100mm hubs.
This is part two of my GT La Bomba build series, where I take a good bike and make it great. If you saw the first video, you’ll remember my less-than-stellar opinion of the stock fork. Today, I’m upgrading to something that truly delivers performance.
Hit play to learn how to install a new MTB fork on your own, save money, and level up your ride. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more mountain biking DIY tutorials, reviews, and builds!

Love this. Brings me back to the days of installing press fit BBs into my BMX with a 'bottom bracket tool' I made (nuts, washers, and a long threaded bar)
DJer looks NOICE now. Reminds me of the previous year Norco Fluid, silver on racer red fork.
@@TeddyParker it is said necessity is the mother of invention 😁🤘. Love the way it looks! Thanks Teddy!
Great video! I just got the same bike and was wondering where you got the spacers that allow you to use the 15 mm axle in the 20x110 mm fork?
@@stonewheeltech I got the conversion kit from a place online called brands cycle and fitness. Good luck!
Thanks for posting this! In order for the conversion you needed the 15mm Marzocchi kit and a new Headset? Do you recall the size of the headset? Looking to do the same to a LaBomba rigid set up. Thanks!
@@andrewlevison8415 glad you found it helpful. yes you need the conversion kit and a new headset you just need to make sure that the headset is for a taper head tube with a 1.5 inch bearing for the bottom
Thanks for the response and details!
Hey what head set did you use and also what bushings did you use
@@Aiden.MTB133 the headset was a cane creek headset. If they make more than one, not sure which one specifically. As far as the bushings go, are you referring to the cups that the bearings go into? If so, this setup doesn’t require them. The head tube is shaped already to receive the sealed bearing cartridges directly.
@ sorry I meant the through axle bushings
@@Aiden.MTB133 oh ok sorry. The conversion kit that I bought for the marzocchi came with the needed bushings/adapters. You can just search for marzocchi conversion kit and it has everything you need.
@@venacava_mtb ok thank you so much
those cane creek headsets are on all my bikes. Good price and durable.
