Found your channel while looking over info for the Arc the Lad Collection on PS1, first time playing through these, sucks to hear the series ended flat like this.
I didn't know they made Arc The Lad games after Twilight Of The Spirits. Wow, I wish I would have known. I would have 100% gotten this on the PS2 back then.
I mean, it is an Arc game, but not by any conventional means as it plays completely differently to all the other games. I think the reason it didn't do so well, besides some of the gameplay features, is because of how different it was from its predecessors. Still, it's worth trying if you're a fan of the series - just don't get your hopes up.
Great review. You seem to find a very similar trend and style in games. The card system reminded me of your kingdom hearts review. I do miss this style of game.
Oh yeah, the card system is similar to Kingdom Hearts: Re Chain of Memories. I think Baten Kaitos came out in 2003/2004, as did that Kingdom Hearts game, and this game. So maybe it was just a trend for game developers to make card based games, at that time?
There's a roster of characters from previous titles where you can summon them as cards and use them in place of the default character in non-story missions. It's a nice touch, but grinding some of them out is kinda like a gacha, and I definitely didn't get all of them - but was nice to get some of the characters I did get.
Ah, an Arc the Lad man after man very own heart. 🤣 Yeah, definitely the weakest installment. Fun when you want a grindy repetitive experience. So many solid series met their end in the early/mid 2000's. The mobile game should be releasing soon though, so fingers crossed for that.
Yeah, of the five mainstream games I would definitely say this one was the most tenuous to play. It's not that it wasn't fun, but there were some moments that really brought the fun factor down for me. Haha. Yeah, I'll probably look into Arc the Lad: R in the future. I plan on looking at the WonderSwan Color exclusive one day too. Not sure when that will be, though. Haha. Anyway, thanks for watching!
I love Arc the Lad Twilight Of the Spirits! But this game looks and seems horrible... Glad I skipped it. It's ashame they didn't do this game justice and ending this series on a bad note..

It is disappointing, definitely, but the four games before this one are worth playing for the journey.
Been replying the older games and may wanna give this another replay.

How is Elk here if Twilight took place 1,000 years later?? Doesn’t this one take place after Twilight?? 🤔
