Our Flag Means Death is a period comedy television series created by David Jenkins. The series is loosely based on the life of Stede Bonnet. In 1717, Captain Bonnet is an aristocrat who abandons his comfortable life and family to prove himself as a pirate during the Golden Age of Piracy, despite having no aptitude for the role. Sailing aboard his ship the Revenge, Captain Bonnet and his dysfunctional crew struggle to survive against deadly threats from naval warships and other bloodthirsty pirates.
The series stars Rhys Darby as Captain Stede Bonnet and Taika Waititi as the legendary pirate captain, Blackbeard.

That scene where Lucius walks in on Ed sitting vigil at Stede's bedside, and the two of them have an entire conversation without Ed taking his eyes off Stede even once... absolutely unhinged. You were insane for that mr Waititi

maybe they'll get it by next episode but I can't blame straight people for not seeing what we as the LGBT+ look for, we're always looking for that slight hint of gay somewhere and thankfully this show has plenty of hints until it smacks us in the face full force

This is one of my favorite episodes... Love the interactions between Stede and Ed.
Ed was really fascinated by Stede from the beginning (since when Izzy mentioned him) because of how different he is. They have such a fun dynamic. There's some twists and turns coming, so looking forward to seeing y'all experience them!
Ed really went: 🎶"I wanna lock you in a basement with soundproof walls and take over your identity..." 🎶
I guessed Ed just said the first thing that came into his mind, because he didn't want Izzy to leave
I'm still wondering if Ed meant it here or not.
Ed's wild enough to pull off these hare-brained schemes, and pulling together a plan in that short amount of time. I think he did mean it in the moment, plan to use Stede to learn about rich people, then off him to escape his life being blackbeard. But the -[Next episode spoilers scene]- was when he changed his mind.
But the end of episode look he made has me thinking if it was "Oh, Blackbeard is just playing the long con" or "I'm not sure I can bring myself to do this"
I'm pretty sure he meant it here. He just couldn't go through with it
And he has to say something that will convince Izzy Hands to stick and for the madness. Considering this is vaguely what happened in real life it is interesting to think how Blackbeard would have convinced Israel Hands to keep Stede Bonnet as their guest rather than just the "us".
Black Sam sure, Captain Kidd maybe, Blackbeard? You did not work for Blackbeard to make friends.
i love you guys' approaches and insight to this, its very interesting to see how clearly he pointed out the connection of blackbeard's retirement=his "death"=stealing stede's identity as i never thought of it that way on my first watch

It’s incredible how people think “not Cis male = woman” I’m literally trans male and I still had to correct my mum every episode “Jim isn’t a woman” 😑
They literally say they're not a woman and want to be called Jim, and the whole crew never uses she, it's not that subtle that they're nonbinary

The song at the end along with Edward's somber close up is such a nive piece of drama! The "My heart is empty" lyrics in a moment in wich (I believe) Ed has to confront the idea of actually killing this guy he got to really like is quite chilling.

Hello I have a suggestion. The Penthouse: War in Life, it has 3 seasons. This is an underrated K-drama and has an interesting storyline, it all started when a girl fell from the 47th floor of Hera palace. Then the Hera club members covered up her death by saying it's suicide, then one of the hera club members finds out that the girl that fell is her daughter. And the revenge starts there. This drama is very frustrating and stressful, it will make your blood boil.
