It looks and feels very "stocking stuffer for a middle schooler" to me. I would have expected quality and glamor from RuPaul. I'm confused 🤔

As soon as I saw it was a Superdrug brand I knew it would be her name slapped on generic crap and mostly sold to kids.

When i heard RuPaul was coming out with makeup i was really excited. But seeing this it’s definitely not what i was expecting. I was expecting a more “high end” brand . This kinda gives me kids makeup vibes . I have a feeling they have just slapped him name and face on it

You know loads of celeb hairdresser brands do this in boots as well? The salon or hairdresser slap their name on it but it’s not their formula . I went to a Toni and Guy salon once they use label M I think . The stuff in boots smells completely different but is still called Toni and Guy

It's literally giving Claire's kids makeup
If RuPaul was going to do a launch that was true to herself and her prime, she should have released a palette based on the 90’s. A palette around her Supermodel days. That aesthetic would have been awesome to see translated into a palette. OR she could have done one completely based on her current franchise by incorporating the mirror messages queens leave or doing something with the packaging to mimic the werk room. Feels like a total missed opportunity.
yeah, something that just screams RuPaul would've been so cool because she is an icon. this just gave me "we had this generic stuff lying around, so let's slap some famous person's name and face on it and call it a day"
That is so trueee! I would love a 90s themed collection!! And in my opinion a RuPaul collab with MAC would be a good entry point to test the waters. In general, I think the targeting for this product is so not on point… Are they targeting gen z who shop shein or are they targeting the og RP fans, who are now in their 30+ and above and have money to spend (but won’t use this ever lol)? I’m so confussseeeeed 😀

She is in her prime right now. Ru Paul has never been more famous or made as much money as she has in the last 7-10 years or so.

I think Ru saw how well Trixie and Kim Chi’s lines were doing and wanted in on it. It’s kinda a slap in the face though bc they work so hard and Ru made something that looks like it belongs in Claire’s Accessories

He hasn't done his own makeup for years and I feel like if he had, he'd probably have been more involved in the process and the products would've been a lot better. Genuinely I think at this point he just functions with the idea of doing whatever makes sure his name is out there constantly whether it's a bazillion spin-off shows or cheap makeup.
Also, with the very young fans of Drag Race, the Claire's market was probably the intended demographic.

There’s literally no excuse for bad make up at the drugstore/high street anymore, some of my fave stuff is from there and it’s such great quality.
I didn't even know this makeup line existed. For someone like RuPaul, with all the connections and knowledge that's been accumulated over the years, you think a better product would have been released. It looks like a glorified version of the first ever eyeshadow kit I got as a kid, a freebie gift at a 5th grade sleepover where we went to see Spice World. 😆

It's hilarious to me that Ru's makeup isn't high end; why would someone who holds themself to such a high standard and clearly has the funds to create expensive makeup make something so cheap looking? What's also funny to me is that Ru would make a makeup brand when someone else does his makeup, not him. This release does not make a lick of sense to me.

This is why I’m over celebrity makeup/skincare/fragrances… their management is just looking for the next business to venture into without any regards for quality. (No hate to those who are taking things more seriously like Fenty Beauty, Rare Beauty, Haus Labs, etc. who genuinely seem to put their money into R&D to perfect their products.)

I think people are forgetting the drag race reunion ep at the start of the pandemic where Ru wore a mask covering his cheeks, forehead and chin because he can’t do his own makeup lmao
I think ColourPop would have done an excellent collab with RuPaul. The colors would be fierce, the wig would be snatched, the boots would be kicking the house, all of the cliches. This however feels like you said, something you buy someone at Xmas because you don't know what else to buy them.
Even though colorpop suffers from quality drop due to a launch every other day, I agree that they would have still done something so much better than this

it would not be any better, clourpop has very cheap quality too, but better packaging i guess. I own the blue moon pallette and its very not worth the 9 bucks i paid for it. Aplies poorly with a brush, leaves a lot of patches and stains the eye to remove. I should not have to find workarounds to be able to wear eyeshadows
@@arielruby13 Yes some of colourpop eyeshadows stains so much, they get away with all their bad formulas saying "do not apply around eye area" while they litteraly put those in eyeshadow palettes

Everything RuPaul has done lately seems like a way to make a quick buck. This had such potential 😩
Honestly, will always adore drag race and all the contestants but when I found out RuPaul was leasing his ranch to FRACKING companies, including to access to the water reserves (which does not JUST affect his property), he effectively cancelled himself for me. Shows him as another rich, out of touch, old fart out to get his bag before he dies, regardless of the environmental damage he does. So this make up being crap is completely on brand for me LOL.
I was curious to see how this brand performed -- disappointing. If Trixie & Kimchi can put out a quality product, it's embarrassing to see Ru go out like that.

Miss Fame has a brand called Miss Fame Beauty. I've heard great things about it. I would love to see a drag queen beauty review with Trixie, Kimchi, and Fame's products!
Mo Heart has a brand too. Mo Beauty, but It seems to be mainly skincare
Miss Fame looks so good, but a bit pricey. It looks LAVISH and highly pigmented, I’d love to try it!

I'm convinced this was meant for children who ask their parents to experiment with makeup. Which is kinda sad in the end cause you can't learn anything with bad formulas. Drug stores have great products that will do extremely well and that won't end up giving them a rash.

I think this look only came out decent because of Robert's considerable skill. As soon as I saw the color payoff on the eye shadow it reminded me of the makeup sets they sell at Claire's. What a missed opportunity!

It would be cool if you could share some information on working as a MUA in the industry... idk what that would necessarily entail but maybe you could show us your kit, building a portfolio etc. Also seing you do different styles of make up (runway, advertisement). Maybe makeup trends from when you was taking clients, to now. You've spoken about most these things before, but it might be cool to have a dedicated video. She put out a set a few years back. It was like 3 loose pigments, eyeliner and lip gloss something like that. And from the reviews I saw of it at the time it was pretty good. But it's so obvious all Ru cares about is money now.

That’s a great idea! Luckily it’s not something I would use often, I was comparing to Haus labs. It’s a shame that it doesn’t just dry matte like it claims!
I love this tip as I appreciate the stay quality of this 6.99 lippy. Spent twice as much on Fenty popsicle and it doesn't stay on half as long.

You can put lip gloss or balm over it for a less dry finish, too. It's one of the few liquid lipsticks I've found that doesn't melt under gloss, it transfers a little bit but doesn't smear or wear off over the course of the day.
With that maybelline lippy, the stickiness I’ve learned to ignore because it stays on so well. Some shades don’t. But most do.

i bought one of the “lookbook” sets (comes with eyeshadow, highlighter, blush, eyeliner and liquid lipstick) i actually love eyeliner a lot!! it lasts all day even through tears, and it applies really nicely. personally i liked the other stuff as well, and for me it made sense for the price. the packaging is kinda what ticked me off, i thought the packaging would be a lot more sleek and classy coming from rupaul… but i guess it maybe makes sense from a marketing standpoint? idek anymore
