  • Honestly the hardest part of this game is getting your guys to go into your factories and BLOODY STAY THERE! Stop fleeing the damn country and build that road already!
    Cheers to the devs for tossing me a code for the game!
    Hope you enjoyed this very Open TTD and Cities Skylines esque game - Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic. Was actually pretty good fun once I started understanding how it worked, but it's UI desperately needs work.

      @@soldiersPL It is true that many illiberal republics experienced famines, but rarely are the causes closely examined. For example, the Ukrainian one of the 1930s probably cannot be traced to any single cause; awful weather and pestilence were a few factors, but it didn’t help that many of the landowners were protesting Soviet collectivization by destroying their crops and generally making a mess of the place. However, like the one in the People’s Republic of China, perhaps some responsibility should be given to-yes-the authorities or central planners (though these flaws are amendable). What is remarkable about these places however is that although they did experience some famines after they were revolutionized, the socialists also stopped the series of famines that the countries were experiencing long before they were revolutionized, with no thanks to the capitalists. For example, after 1947 the Soviet Union experienced no more famines, but even before then they distributed famine relief to the Uk.S.S.R. in the 1920s and the 1930s. No surprise since Stalin was consistently very sympathetic to the landless and poor peasants, and many landless peasants supported his administration. Likewise, China saw no more famines after 1961, and even this last one probably wasn’t their worst.

    • @CollinBuckman
      @CollinBuckman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I think the real issue it shows is why Communism doesn't really work when you try to implement it in a pre-industrial society like pre-revolution Russia and China. Communism is inherently centered around factory workers, miners, and other similar industrial jobs, after all, so ideally there should already be an industrialized infrastructure already in the nation when the Communists take power, rather than having to build it all up from scratch. Marx actually was on record saying Russia was too backwards for a revolution at the time, and thought the UK or Germany would be better places to begin spreading Communism.

    At the start, Just sell electricity, then build farms to give your people food, then build stuff that makes them Happy so they stay and don't flee. Then build all the industry with all the Money you got from Exportinger your electricity and boom, you got yourself a Region that you can build Up without having to pay more Money for, in fact, at that Point you Just grow and keep getting money. That you don't even need because you build everything yourself anyway. Yes I Just explained the whole Game and it has close to nothing to do with communism but rather keeping your people Happy in a society where almost everything is owned by the state. Well, it is just a game... Why am I explaining this?
