Dude, this is EXACTLY the problem I've been having with my 2000 Chevy Tracker! I'm so glad you posted this! EDIT for UPDATE: Installed the new sensor over the weekend and it totally ended the hot start problem. It took me maybe 10 minutes (my arms are too short to comfortably reach that far back, so I had to climb darn near on top of the engine) and about $25 (including shipping). Different Tracker now. Thank you so much for posting this video it really helped me out.
thankyouthankyouthankyou. I drive home 2000 feet up a steep 4x4 road, in low range first gear = 5 mph. I rarely make it all the way now that its summer. I notice this part is waaaay back and near the top of the engine compartment, which is surpisingly well sealed = zero air circulation. There is nowhere for the air to move except down - not hot air's specialty :-) I may grab a computer muffin fan from the junk box and stick it back there. Also, it occurred to me to remove the weather seal or maybe even the whole wiper shroud to allow a little flow out.
I ran with the hood unsecured and only held by the safety latch, like after you pull the latch, but haven't walked around front to let the safety latch out. Of coarse only private property but it will keep it running better in a pinch. (Stop and go traffic is the worst). (Your next vehicle may be a hybrid, after you ask yourself why these things make heat in the middle of the summer while stopped dead in the middle of a freeway and then dump fluid everywhere)

I have a 2001 tracker 54,000 miles. And this part left me stranded 2 times. First time was really hot out, would still run after sits cools down. That was oem part. Replacement part lasted about 2 yrs, then totally failed would not run at all. Such a stupid simple fix if you know its the problem, almost worth getting a spare and have a 10 mm in trunk for quick roadside change

My '99, 2.0, 5-spd will be driving along and all of a sudden the tach drops to 0. Pull over wait 5 minutes and it cranks up again. I hope this is the trick!
I drove a few times with the hood open a few inches, held by the latch of course, and was able to get by forna while. I don't recommend it but it could be a way to test. The fresh air keeps the compartment cool, and the sensor can stay stable.
I own a 1999 chevrolet Tracker And I Cannot Find The CrankShaft Sensor ? any Idea ? for The Oil leak Issue I Just Replace The PVC valve , $ 2.50 From AutoZone If Not You can have a Lot pressure Problem and Create Leaks ( i Can See In Your Video that Small Hose Just Besides Of The Yellow Oil Stick )
Usually it will start after cooling, or you can run with the hood cracked open and held by safety latch. Maybe dangerous, but if you notice a change then it probably is the case. The exhaust manifold is hot inside the engine compartment.

I sure hope this helps me as well. I changed fuel pump and filter to no avail.

Same tracker like mine. Since 2003 have changed that sensor like 6 times. Only problem that has.

It is lower on the motor by the flywheel

Shouldn't the battery be disconnected since the camshaft sensor is electrical before replacing?
That may be a suitable precaution considering the scope of the procedure.

Spark, Fuel. Compression. Maybe check TDC in case you lost timing.

I don't know exactly, but I would check by the fuel rail and injectors. Maybe look up the part so you know what you are looking for.
