There was no submission, Sultan was choked unconscious in this fight by the triangle. It's very visible, you can see his leg go limp and shake even before the armbar is fully applied. He may even have taken some damage to that arm, as he was unable to tap when it was cranked since he was unconscious.
Fun fact, the bjj guy is usually the ref in these Fights. He had an unjury not long ago, but watching all these fights He wanted to test himself. A very nice and technical fight by Niko.
That wasn't a triangle choke, it was a matcha choke! XD Awesome fight, really gets me thinking I should get into BJJ. Love seeing the good sportsmanship from these two. I think they both did pretty well when they were out of their element, but BJJ had the slight edge this time. I'd love to see them fight again and hopefully they get some cross-training. Amazing commentary as always!
@@eliasschneeberger1337 he’s not talking about that, he’s referring to the choke at 5:44 which looks like an anaconda to me now that I watch it a couple more times, thought it was a d’arce at first but nah
Awesome looking fight. The BJJ guy had some pretty decent transitions on the ground. Especially not giving up the mount for an armbar. Mounted armbar is about as risky as it gets, giving up a dominant position for one that leaves you on bottom if the other guy escapes. BJJ guys striking wasn't great, but it looks like he was using it to set up takedowns anyways. Land a jab or two and then fake the jab and hit the takedown. Surprised the Sambo guy didn't have better grappling. He got taken down pretty much at will by the other guy. His use of the overhand punches were awesome however.
Wonderful. JJ guy was using the range pretty well, and that armbar was amazing, though i was yelling for him to go for americana for quite a while before then.

Its not as clear cut. Anyone who has taken the time to check the results of matches between BJJ and Sambo can realize victories go either way. Its 2021, the silly days of BJJ master race are already buried, yet too many kids haven't realized.
Because sambo is not a defined sistem. Is just a rule system, some schools put more emphasis on striking other on wrestling or judo etc. Also you have combat sambo and sport sambo were you can't strike or choke hence the leg lock emphasis

Yeah, I really need to learn more about triangles! My legs are super fat and muscular due to kungfu, so triangles just don't seem to be my thing, but I'll do some more research and training in the future.
@@FightCommentary I'm fat and have short legs in general (I'm only 5'10) so I sympathize. The best tips I can give you (as someone who is himself not great at triangles, so for whatever's it's worth I guess) is that you don't need to do it all it on in one step. You can just get those legs over (one arm in, one out) and cross your ankles and work from there, a position I've come to call the first part of "triangle guard." Not quite triangle, not quite guard. The second thing is you've got to underhook the near-side leg to make angles (or you can grab the gi if that's available). Unless you're super lanky or otherwise amazing, straight-on triangles aren't very successful for me.
About when you say "see sambo guy was winning at this point with the punches" I'm seeing the sambo guy was taking so much more dmg from the punches and he got dazed early in the match and stayed dazed throwing out some punches that land but Bjj didn't seem at all affected by it. Fun channel!

Yes, you can full mount in sambo. There are not chokes in sambo though. Also, they don't really close their legs when in guard. However, amazing throws, leg locks, and catch wrestling esque submissions on top of leg locks. Unlike judo uniform, Sambo uniform has a short sleeve pouch for the opponent to attempt to use for leverage. Very fascinating art. I've been very slowly studying sambo since I was so ashamed at my subpar commentary in this video. Thanks for asking a good question!
Man, why don't these guys use side kicks, back kicks or at least teeps? I'm pretty sure that they know how to do them, and that those are pretty safe and strong kicks
For how high BJJ guy's posture is, he should be more light on his feet, or more bendy at the waist. IMO that's why he got hit so much in the first. (aside from dropping his hands. If he wants to have them low, obvs, he needs to dodge back or "head movement" that shit.)
