Expectations is finally out and I’m so happy!!!!! Happy Labor day everyone! I hope everyone is finding time to chillax today!!!
This is a song me and my boyfriend, Jose, created together. This is a deep song. I’ve always grown up having this internal struggle that I was never good enough to later find out my expectations are out of line and way higher than they should be. But ironically as I’ve grown, I’ve learned that sometimes it’s a good thing to have the bar raised... It’s kind of a part of loving yourself and who you are! Yes be more accepting (and continue to push yourself) but also be more realistic with your expectations and fair to yourself. To be softer on yourself especially if you don’t reach where you were hoping to reach in a certain time frame you set your mind to. (I know one a lot of people struggle with is weight, hence my video).
I look back and I realize that honestly we can be our own worse critic and we may not even realize it! I built this awareness as I matured. Now I know how to be more accepting of how me thinking/ operating differently from others is actually a good thing! I’ve always noticed in the past, when I would try to be like everyone else it just wasn’t right and it’s just not my place. I hope this song speaks to you in a way you deserve to feel loved and reminded that it's okay if your grove and thoughts are outside of the box and unique. That's what makes our world so beautiful. All these different mindsets coming together, keeps the world balanced.
Also side note, in my lyrics you’ll read “spend a dime feeling priceless” this relates to my realization that I grew up thinking that what success is, is to be wealthy. That's what everyone strives for isn't it? It's almost like we think we win at life when we make it to the top financially. When in reality, I'm actually very happy when I swing by a thrift store or clearance store and find a heck of a deal! It shouldn't determine your value or worth. And people really shouldn't get embarrassed going into one. Society makes us grow up thinking a lot of things, and we should feel confident and happy spending a dime instead of $200 on a item or wallet. We are still priceless regardless and it doesn't determine your value.
