I am sure someone has directed you to a much easier and safer way of picking up the bike, but here's my input. Make sure the bike is in gear., pull the handlebars to the lock position, place your butt in the saddle (thereby bending your knees, one hand holds onto the handle bar, the other hand grabs under the edge of the seat. if the bike is on the left side, simply use your feet/legs (basically walking backwards) until Chris can put the kickstand down and lock it. On the right side, you put the kickstand out before you do the same backward walk. This is a lot safer, bike won't roll as you are setting it up and you are a lot less likely to develop a hernia. We enjoy your adventures and appreciate you taking us along. No longer riding but I rode for 50 years, the last 25 years we toured and put on 250,000 miles while still working full time jobs. Knees in the breeze & keep scanning.
William High Love your videos. I'm a 25 year, 7 different HD models guy but about a year ago I got a K1600B. What a difference. 150 lbs lighter, much more maneuverable and 60+ more horses. My Harley buds cant stand that I switched! I like that GS tho. Maybe next trade. Anyway, about your videos. I'm turning 70 this year and my rides these days are more the 2 hours long and get back to the a/c and the pool but I ride alongside you with each episode. Keep up the good work. BTW I'm looking at the forthcoming Pan America as well.

Yall are awesome i retired 5yrs ago waiting on my wife to retire and our last adopted sun to graduate (4yrs) then were go`a see the USA on our Indian Challenger but we will be 2 up with a camper too. My wife doesn't ride she just loves being a passenger unlike you Miss Chris lol. Safe travels God bless!!!!!
I had my bike lay over several times due to gravel or hot asphalt. Ended up buying a H-D kickstand puck and put it down whenever we questioned the surface. I have seen people use a flattened tin can as well. Safe riding!
When the bike is down turn around and use your legs to walk the bike back up. Several videos on TH-cam on how to do it. I was amazed on how easily I can pick my loaded goldwing back up. I've only had to do it once so far.
I'm so sorry you guys had to go back to work instead of living on the road. I am going back over your previous videos and happily finding bits and pieces that I missed first time around. I would love to tour round America on my motorbike , but, as a pensioner in England there is no way I could afford to do that so I really enjoy watching your travels and historical insights. I had some interruptions and missed the dirt devil and what Gump road is all about. But I saw the Bike taking a nap, and we've all no doubt had that experience. Reminds me to find my kickstand pad!
You both rock. I've been fortunate enough to ridden and camped off my bike all over the US except for northwest corner of lower 48 . Another 2 yrs to retirement. Hopefully be able to ride the northwest corner and on to Alaska. Keep riding and sharing. Life is short. Live it like there is no tomorrow.
Have visited this very same area in a rental car, could not ever imagine me taking my Electric Glide HOG down these roads. You two are super stars. Excellent videos. Just keeps getting better
@20:20 you are correct, I had the same experience on my fully loaded BMW GSA 1250 with camping gears and the bike maintained its balance when I lost control going from deep gravel to tarmac. My bike shook violently from side to side for a few seconds before it became stable. I would have gone down if I was on any other type of heavy adventure bike. I think it is the gyroscopic effects of the boxer engines along with its complex computer system.

What an absolutely fantastic travel programme! I live in England and to see the Big Country like this, how I would like to ride it myself, is just breathtaking. Some years ago I had some spells of work in a desert area and really loved it, which is odd having grown up in the leafy green of East Anglia. I so wanted to go back and ride those immense landscapes. That you lovely people are riding it for us and kindly sharing is very much appreciated. Thank you.
I about had a heart attack when I saw my favorite iron skillet go flying when Rich dumped his bike. I noticed that was the first thing Chris grabbed. Seriously folks, lets not dump any bikes on your next episode. Loved the few seconds around 10:21 minutes into this video, nightfall, Ruby lit up like an ornament on a Christmas tree. Oh my goodness a few years ago my husband and I were out East on our Goldwing 1200. Our bike kept wanting to take naps. 🤦🏼♀️ By the time were done with our trip we had more duct tape then we should have. 😂

My cousin and I just rode from NV to Moab Utah. It was beautiful. There's so much to see and 3 national parks. You can easily ride 200mi and still not see everything. And we didn't go through any of the parks. There's just so much to see.

Wish I known you was so close as when you went by Sanders /191south off I 40 you was only 50 miles from St Johns AZ as I am 18 miles northeast of St Johns. Would had went up to I 40 and said hi. If all goes well I will going to Albuquerque on Thursday or Tuesday the 1st for a vacation. Tulsa will be my first place to camp out in my timeout. This is going to a start of seeing if I want to turn the farm and my tractor over to my son and stay on the road for who knows how long. At the most three weeks this trip as I would have to come back to the farm to finish a few things. Safe travels.
Also I understand it's convenient to run around the Western desert because it's a dry cold when it's cold however I would like to see y'all come over here to the Smoky Mountain Range more often
Looks like your having fun though. More 2 up shots is a great idea. Richard maybe you'll need to beef up the kick stand at some point? Small piece of 1/4" 6x6 plywood of those soft spots..
