Alain would have deserved getting flash pinned in the end. Those pushing / shifting motions are dangerous and not really part of armwrestling. And he isn't doing them in terms of a further going strategy, he simply had no other choice as his dragging and pulling was too weak and he realized it in the first two seconds....

When subjecting the elbow joint to unnatural stress as in arm-wrestling the GTO (Golgi tendon organ) which is a safety switch we all have located in the tendons that will shut off the contacting muscle automatically if the stresses on the tendon are too great and in jeopardy of tearing. Its like a rev limiter on your engine. In addition to shutting off the contracting muscle it will contract the antagonistic muscle to put on the brakes even further to prevent injury. So just remember just because the guy has bigger and stronger muscles in arm-wrestling it does not necessarily mean he has tendons that are strong when placed in the position of arm-wrestling. Its the reason Devon beat Hafthor easily in a arm-wrestling match but do you actually think Devon could compete with Hafthor in powerlifting? Not even close and he will be the first to admit it. To be successful in arm-wrestling you have to have both strong muscles and even stronger tendons to keep the GTO from shutting your muscles off.
To a beginner it would look like both guys struggling a great deal and that offensively Alain has an advantage when in reality Devon is just draining his energy, slowly but surely :D
Devon knows from the first push, if his opponent has "It".....Locks in....Lets them gas themselves, then talks calmly to them, telling them he's about to put them down..... Incredible strength and conditioning.
Man I love how with non-arm wrestlers Devon is absurdly strong whereas amongst arm-wrestlers of his weight class he's pretty average but has the greatest stamina and good technique to go with it.
So I guess it must have been totally worth it for Cyplenkov. It will turn out to be the last match of his life at that level. He almost killed himself from overuse of PEDs. He will NEVER fight again at a world class level since his body can no longer stand the doping. Doctor's orders.
