Just met Mr Quaye while sitting outside convenience store near to where I live. Even 25 years the song is beautiful and he had a great smile and modest demeanour. This song is incredible.
This came out when black south africans were allowed to vote, I voted I was 18, so this song will always remind me of that time, time of hope and glowers
Its a shame Finley Quaye went off the rails in the way that he did. I heard this song for the first time in years recently, so Googled his name to see where he is now, and it made sad reading. Heartbreaking even, considering the message of peace and joy that ran through all of his music, and all how many people it has touched over the years. Despite everything, anybody who can conceptualise a song like this has beauty in their soul. I hope he can get back in touch with it.
Recent news brought me here. It's been a long time since I last listened to this song, too long. First time I heard it on headphones my mind was blown from the timeless sheer beauty of sound. To me, it is a love song. not one directed towards a specific person, it's a love song to this world. It could be cruel and full with misery and sometimes vile but it's all dwarfed when happiness and love hits you. I've never read the lyrics and looked for the original meanings because I'm afraid they wouldn't match the sensation this song gives me. Thank you for these sonic fruits Finely, I hope your roads will forever be shined upon by the sun.
I remember him watching him filming this video way back when I was a young boy i would of been about 10. I lived in those block of flats in the background. This video was done in Woolwich South East London. I remember watching him from a distance sitting on that bench and all the camera crew I was thinking what the he'll is going on
I used to listen to this song about 25 years ago!!! Wow....time really does fly real quick.... I miss the years between 1995 and 2005 (could stretch it to 2010) Life was so good and beautiful...(no social media bullshit back then!!!) What happened to us...😭😭😭😭😭😭
Where is this guy now he should have been globally massive. I loved his music and he had a unique style at the time unlike any other artist. This song should get re-released in the charts. Let's all do it for Xmas Number 1 instead of that hot dog song or sausage roll
2023 and still loving these songs. Reminds me of passing my driving test and getting my first car. I'm introducing my kids to the music I would listen to with my friends and maybe a couple girls when driving round in the car with no where to go, just drive all night. Great days, great times even better friends
Its 24 year or more old, great artist. When I heard it first time the following day I bought the disc. Hope Fineley is doing well. South Africa loved his soulful sound
A timeless classic sound, vibe, feeling and music video from the 90’s. Love Finley Quaye, his voice talks to you. What a handsome gorgeous looking man as well. So cool looking in black and white. 🥰😘😍🌟🎶🎤📺🎵🎙️☀️👑⚜️💎♥️❤️ 🌧️ 🎥
I loved this album. Played it constantly when it came out. I see him once in a while around Dalston, London every so often. Always brings a little smile to my face!
peace to all... checked out this CD from an old friend on a road trip through Nevada with a rare snow storm ... so much beauty in all this and the life and pain. Let's keep it real and know all journeys of human are cherished.
Edinburgh lad. My home town. His words have meaning today. "All that you go on sir, is the order of the day and all that you believe sir, is the order in this society".
I was 16 in 1997.... 16 years old, a major year in my life and what a soundtrack. Why is Finley Quaye not first on the lips of people when you mention 90's music!? Eclipsed by Britney Spears and Spice Girls... Shows the power of money put behind some names more than others.
Omg, 23 years in London. Your music is relentless, sad. My words, tiny words after all this time. Eyes and talk in beautiful but I guess I'm happy after all this time. x
"You know I love you so and so..." love his lyrics and the phrasing of it...just amazing...my go to, to check in with my lazy vocals...soulful, jazzy underestimated, timeless! Thanks Finley, warm hugs from London 🏴
My amp and speakers told me this was their favorite sound; they keep telling me about it day after day Finley, if you read this, you were my favourite album to listen to through university. Wish you the best bro
I picked up this album after seeing Finley on an episode of Conan back in like... 98? I don't remember for sure. It's been a favorite ever since. Start to finish it's a great album.
I don't smoke anymore but at the time it came out in '97 it was the perfect song to have blasting out on a sunny Sunday afternoon while chillin' in the garden, shades on,, can of lager in one hand and a spliff in the other.
One of the very few albums you can listen to every track and never get bored of hearing them. I've stolen his rhymes and sung them to a few girls in my time.. good times.
I still listen to this album front to back……it was a great moment…. With a great woman… mood perfect… i listen to this song / album … it takes me back and gives me great pleasure.
I was playing pool in The City Cafe, Edinburgh many years ago....grannied some dude.... then the next day, saw him on MTV loloveit!! Thanks Finners! haha
Often an artist or group will make a timeless gem that stands out and outshines everything that came before and often after. This track is certainly one of them. Absolute perfection.

Going on his rap sheet for misdemeanours he is anything but mellow and chilled lol... He got more convictions than hit records that's for sure.
oh so that is such a nice thing my friend. im just sitting with my animals xxx
isn't the name Finley souch a lovely name. I also love the name Troy x
thank you xx his voice will always be incredible x
Hes a total prick, well known for it and I've seen it twice, what a let down his 1st album was sublime, such a waste
This came out when black south africans were allowed to vote, I voted I was 18, so this song will always remind me of that time, time of hope and glowers
It definitely didn't come out in 94'
That whole CD was absolutely amazing.

He seems a lot better now, saw him live not long ago. Clearly been very negatively affected by some events in his life though sadly

Top song. Better than 99% of 2023 music
Better than 99% of music any time, any year.
Man this song still takes me to another (beautiful) planet. Even after 23 years. Peace to all
